Background / History

Life Among Humans

Xiao Wu is a transformed Soul Beast who regards the Star Dou Great Forest as home. Da Ming, the Sky Azure Bull Python, and Er Ming, the Titan Giant Ape, are her family there. By the time she attends Shrek Academy, she and Tang San have been companions since childhood, relying on one another throughout their upbringing 10 17 67.

At Shrek’s entrance assessment, she attacks Chu Feng alongside Tang San and Zhu Zhuqing, but retreats before his flames and ultimately surrenders. She subsequently joins his Martial Dao classes and becomes close friends with Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing 1 2 4 8.

Return to the Star Dou Great Forest

During the group’s Soul Ring expedition, Er Ming senses Xiao Wu and comes to retrieve her. She intervenes to stop him from attacking Zhao Wuji again, after which he carries her to the forest’s lakeside. Rather than welcoming the apparent rescue, she scolds him for injuring her teacher and worries that Tang San will endanger himself trying to find her 13.

Chu Feng follows them and reveals that he has known her identity since her first day at Shrek. His continued acceptance reassures her, and she protects him from Da Ming’s attempt to silence him. She also takes an immediate interest in his proposal to reduce conflict between humans and Soul Beasts, including his demonstration of Contract Soul Rings that leave the participating beasts alive 14 15.

At Chu Feng’s request, she remains with Da Ming and Er Ming to help receive his personnel. His soldiers address her as an officer and ask her to arrange experimental Soul Beasts; she agrees to have Er Ming capture some, but insists they be treated well. Meanwhile, Chu Feng conceals her circumstances from her classmates with a story about cultivation in a secret realm 17 21 24.

Reunion and Arena Training

A Soul Guidance Communicator allows Xiao Wu to reconnect with Tang San before she returns to Shrek. On her return, she eagerly resumes training and receives a suitable Martial Dao secret manual from Chu Feng 34 36.

She partners with Tang San for two-on-two arena matches, and they quickly defeat their opponents. Against the Imperial Fighting Team, she and Ma Hongjun pressure Dugu Yan so heavily that Dugu Yan calls for assistance despite possessing higher Soul Power 49 50 59.

Revelation of Her Identity

Chu Feng later gives Xiao Wu the Lovesick Heartbreak Red to conceal her Soul Beast origin. The danger is immediate: Dugu Bo has already recognized her identity, and Chu Feng’s intervention has prevented him from acting against her. In the same private meeting, Tang San uses the Full Moon Wearing Autumn Dew to strengthen his Purple Demon Eye and sees her true form 67.

Although Xiao Wu fears rejection, Tang San embraces her and affirms that her identity changes nothing between them. Their relationship grows closer during the following five months, by the end of which she reaches level 40 67 71.

Personality

Xiao Wu is affectionate and playful, particularly around Tang San, whom she calls “Third Brother.” She also displays jealousy: when he considers the possibility of Martial Soul Fusion with Zhu Zhuqing, she pinches his waist and questions him with a deceptively bright smile. She similarly enjoys teasing Ning Rongrong about her concern for Chu Feng 10 58.

Her loyalty extends across the divide between humans and Soul Beasts. She shields both Zhao Wuji and Chu Feng from her forest family, hopes to end indiscriminate hostility between the two sides, and insists that captured experimental beasts receive proper treatment. Despite accepting responsibilities within Chu Feng’s organization, she dislikes being treated as an officer and chiefly wants a peaceful future with Tang San 13 14 24.

Abilities & Skills

Soul Beast Transformation

Xiao Wu lives in human form despite being a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soft Bone Rabbit 67.

  • Detection risk: Her origin can be recognized by a Titled Douluo such as Dugu Bo, or by Tang San’s Purple Demon Eye after it reaches the Mustard Seed Realm 67.
  • No Contract Soul Beast: She explicitly attributes her lack of a Contract Soul Ring and companion beast to being a Soul Beast herself 39.
  • Concealment: The Lovesick Heartbreak Red is provided specifically to prevent her origin from being exposed 67.

Martial Dao and Close Combat

Xiao Wu studies Chu Feng’s body-strengthening Martial Dao and later receives a secret manual suited to her 4 36.

  • Her combat technique and application of her abilities help her pressure the higher-level Dugu Yan alongside Ma Hongjun 59.
  • She uses Eight-Stage Throw against the thirty-thousand-year Swamp Thorn Alligator Snapping Turtle, but its defenses withstand the attack and the recoil leaves her feet aching 87.

Team Coordination

  • Participates in Tang San’s coordinated, nonlethal training battle against a Thousand-Year Phoenix-tail Crested Serpent 10.
  • Fights alongside Tang San in two-on-two arena matches 49 50.
  • Attacks the Swamp Thorn Alligator Snapping Turtle while receiving Ning Rongrong’s amplification 86.

Equipment / Items

  • Lovesick Heartbreak Red — Immortal Herb given by Chu Feng. Rather than eating it, Xiao Wu is instructed to drip blood onto it. It conceals her origin and can automatically block a fatal blow while preserving her origin; it does not increase Soul Power 67.
  • Soul Guidance Communicator — Issued through Chu Feng’s organization, allowing her to speak remotely with Tang San during their separation 34 36.
  • Martial Dao Secret Manual — A manual selected for her by Chu Feng when she returns to Shrek; its specific techniques are not named 36.

Relationships

  • Tang San — Childhood companion, romantic partner, and two-on-two teammate. His acceptance of her Soul Beast identity resolves her fear that revealing it would separate them 49 67 71.
  • Chu Feng — Training instructor and organizational leader. He accepts her identity, involves her in cooperation with the forest’s Soul Beasts, and provides protection against exposure 14 17 34 67.
  • Da Ming — Sky Azure Bull Python — Forest family member and protector. He worries that humans will exploit her identity and initially attempts to kill Chu Feng to keep her safe 13 14 17.
  • Er Ming — Titan Giant Ape — Forest family member who retrieves her from the Shrek expedition. She freely scolds him for hurting Zhao Wuji and later asks him to capture Soul Beasts for Chu Feng’s personnel 13 24.
  • Ning Rongrong — Close girlfriend who worries about her disappearance, warmly welcomes her return, and celebrates her cultivation progress 8 21 36 71.
  • Zhu Zhuqing — Close girlfriend who is visibly delighted when she returns safely to Shrek 8 36.
  • Zhao Wuji — Academy teacher whom she protects from Er Ming; she subsequently rebukes Er Ming for injuring him 13.
  • Dugu Bo — Recognizes her as a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast. Chu Feng identifies her as his companion to prevent Dugu Bo from targeting her 67.
