Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Level 29 9 His documented level during the fight with Dai Mubai. He has two Soul Skills and is disadvantaged against Dai Mubai’s three-skill repertoire without his stolen Hidden Weapons.
Level 30 and third Soul Ring — anticipated 26 The system forecasts a Star Dou Great Forest expedition after he reaches level 30, where he is expected to obtain the Man Faced Demon Spider’s Soul Ring and an External Soul Bone. Neither advancement occurs in the supplied chapters; Li Zhiyan receives a mission to seize the opportunity.

Background

Tang San is the son of Tang Hao, the Clear Sky Douluo, and Ah Yin, the Blue Silver Emperor. Tang Hao regards his son as the means to take revenge on Spirit Hall, planning for Shrek’s talented students to support Tang San’s eventual ascension to godhood and for a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast to become his Soul Ring 2 6 13.

Tang San initially believes his father to be an ordinary blacksmith. After hearing that Tang Hao is the Clear Sky Douluo, he accepts the claim because it accords with his Clear Sky Hammer Martial Soul 6 8.

The narration refers to Tang San having lived two lives, but the supplied chapters do not explain his earlier life 11.

Personality

Tang San is intensely possessive of Xiao Wu despite the two not being an established couple. He considers her his future wife and expects her unconditional loyalty. Her closeness to Li Zhiyan provokes jealousy and repeated thoughts of murder, while perceived romantic betrayal can overwhelm his judgment 1 6 7 11.

His treatment of companions is often calculating. He privately regards Shrek’s other students as future subordinates whose support will help him become a god. He restrains himself to preserve the group’s usefulness, yet later resolves to kill Dai Mubai and the others once they are no longer needed 7 8 17.

Learning his father’s identity makes him markedly more arrogant. He threatens Dai Mubai with Tang Hao’s power, although his own combat strength has been weakened by the loss of his Hidden Weapons. He nevertheless remains deferential to Yu Xiaogang, valuing his theoretical instruction and fearing the loss of his tutelage 9 11 12.

Abilities & Skills

Blue Silver Grass

Tang San uses his plant-type Martial Soul to restrain opponents 9.

  • Blue Silver Entanglement: Attempts to bind Dai Mubai, who tears it apart through brute force after activating his strengthening skills 9.
  • Parasite: Used against both Dai Mubai and Bu Le’s group, but does not reverse either unfavorable battle 9 19.
  • Demonstrated limitation: Opponents familiar with his skills or substantially stronger than him can overcome his control attempts 9 19.

Clear Sky Hammer

The Clear Sky Hammer is Tang San’s second Martial Soul and one of his most prized trump cards 7 20.

  • He summons it while preparing to kill the man he mistakes for Li Zhiyan 7.
  • He intends to use it against Bu Le’s group but is subdued before he can fight back 20.
  • Its quality is visibly inferior to Li Zhiyan’s Divine Emperor Clear Sky Hammer; Tang San feels his own Martial Soul trembling in its presence 20.

Hidden Weapon Techniques

Tang San’s precision with Hidden Weapons is sufficiently distinctive that his classmates treat it as proof of his involvement in attacks actually committed by Li Zhiyan 9 11.

  • Surprise attacks: He previously used Dragon Whisker Needles against Zhao Wuji after Xiao Wu suffered backlash from using Charm on him 5 11.
  • Combat advantage: Dai Mubai believes he needs his third Soul Skill to contend with Tang San under normal circumstances 9.
  • Dependence on equipment: Losing his weapons sharply reduces his fighting strength and confidence, prompting him to seek replacements from a blacksmith 9 16 19.
  • Copied expertise: Li Zhiyan receives an exact copy of Tang San’s Hidden Weapon techniques as a system reward, allowing him to reproduce Tang San’s methods and frame him 7 10.

Equipment / Weapons / Items

  • Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridges — A storage Soul Tool worn as a belt. Li Zhiyan steals it using Ah Yin’s vine while Tang San is distracted by a staged romantic encounter 7.
    • Contains Dragon Whisker Needles, Silent Sleeve Arrows, Bone-Piercing Needles, Black Iron Flying Needles, and poisons 7.
    • Holds blueprints for the Parent-Child Life-Seizing Soul-Chasing Balls and Torrential Pear Blossom Needles 7.
    • Releases Hidden Weapons when opened by Li Zhiyan, who safely triggers the mechanism inside his Personal Space 7.
  • Replacement Dragon Whisker Needles — Stored in a black box near the foot of his bed. Xiao Wu steals the box at Li Zhiyan’s request; Tang San subsequently blames Dai Mubai and the others for the loss 14 17 20.

Relationships

  • Tang Hao — Father and protector. He attempts to kill Li Zhiyan to eliminate a threat to Tang San’s future. Tang San later invokes his father’s strength to intimidate Dai Mubai 2 9.
  • Ah Yin — Mother. Tang San twice experiences maternal warmth when her plant form is nearby, without identifying her. Ah Yin longs to see her grown son and accepts Li Zhiyan’s promise to arrange a meeting 5 7 13 16.
  • Xiao Wu — Childhood attachment and intended future wife, though they are not formally together. Li Zhiyan’s warnings and framing schemes erode her trust; she becomes Li Zhiyan’s girlfriend while Tang San continues believing she loves him 6 7 14 23.
  • Yu Xiaogang — Respected teacher. Tang San obeys him even when falsely accused, accepting an unwanted confession under threat of expulsion from his tutelage 11 12.
  • Li Zhiyan — Rival whom Tang San helps drive out of Shrek Academy. Li Zhiyan retaliates by stealing his equipment, turning his companions against him, and targeting his future cultivation opportunities 1 7 10 26.
  • Dai Mubai — Teammate turned bitter rival. Li Zhiyan’s schemes lead to a violent fight between them; Tang San later plans to kill him once he is no longer useful 8 9 17.
  • Oscar and Ma Hongjun — Teammates who come to believe Tang San attacked them with Dragon Whisker Needles. They reject his denials because the weapons and techniques appear uniquely his 10 11.
  • Ning Rongrong and Zhu Zhuqing — Teammates who defend Li Zhiyan and condemn Tang San over the alleged ambushes. Tang San privately desires both women while concealing those intentions 7 11 17.
  • Zhao Wuji — Academy instructor whom Tang San previously injured with Dragon Whisker Needles. Zhao Wuji resents that attack and the subsequent beating he received from Tang Hao 11.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Driving Li Zhiyan Out of Shrek

Jealous of Xiao Wu’s affection for Li Zhiyan, Tang San denounces him as an Evil Soul Master and demands his departure. Although he has considered killing him, he worries that openly murdering a fellow student would damage his reputation 1.

Tang Hao then independently attempts to eliminate Li Zhiyan. His failed assassination strengthens Li Zhiyan’s determination to retaliate against both father and son 2.

Theft of Twenty-Four Moonlit Bridges

Li Zhiyan exploits Tang San’s possessiveness by arranging for two ordinary people dressed like Xiao Wu and himself to kiss in public. Tang San charges toward them with his Clear Sky Hammer, only to realize his mistake and apologize 6 7.

During the distraction, Ah Yin’s vine removes his storage belt. He notices its absence only after Ning Rongrong points it out at the Great Soul Arena. His accusations against Li Zhiyan instead draw opposition from Xiao Wu, Ning Rongrong, and Zhu Zhuqing 7.

Framed Attacks and Shrek Infighting

After learning his father’s identity, Tang San becomes less cautious. Li Zhiyan’s scheme brings him into conflict with Dai Mubai, who strikes him and accuses him of pursuing Zhu Zhuqing. Their confrontation becomes a bloody fistfight before Zhao Wuji separates them 8 9.

Li Zhiyan subsequently attacks Dai Mubai, Oscar, and Ma Hongjun using Tang San’s stolen needles and copied techniques. Tang San correctly identifies Li Zhiyan as the likely culprit, but nobody believes him. Yu Xiaogang slaps him and threatens to end their teacher–disciple relationship, forcing him to apologize for attacks he did not commit 10 11 12.

Estrangement from Xiao Wu

Xiao Wu grows wary after Li Zhiyan claims that the Tang family intends to obtain her Soul Ring through sacrifice. These accusations manipulate her fears; the passages do not establish that Tang San himself has made such a plan 6 7.

She stops partnering with him at the arena, enters a relationship with Li Zhiyan, and steals his replacement needles. Tang San notices her distance but cannot uncover its cause 8 14.

While staying next to Li Zhiyan, he repeatedly hears intimate sounds that resemble Xiao Wu’s voice. He dismisses his suspicions, and Yu Xiaogang reinforces his belief that Xiao Wu remains devoted to him 14 15 17.

Defeat by Bu Le’s Group

Tang San, Dai Mubai, and Oscar confront Bu Le, Tianya, and E Kao—one Soul Ancestor and two Soul Kings. The three women with them refuse to help, having been told by Li Zhiyan that the confrontation is a staged rescue scheme 16 18 19.

Without his Hidden Weapons, Tang San is quickly overwhelmed and brutally beaten. Li Zhiyan then immobilizes the surrounding group and kills all three enemies with Ring Detonation and his superior hammer Martial Soul 19 20.

Seeing Li Zhiyan kiss Xiao Wu, Tang San is too frightened to intervene and faints from rage. He later awakens with his clothes stolen, returns to the hotel in humiliation, and continues insisting to himself that Xiao Wu only favors Li Zhiyan because of his Martial Soul 21 22 23.

Threatened Star Dou Opportunity

Li Zhiyan’s next major target is Tang San’s anticipated Man Faced Demon Spider Soul Ring and External Soul Bone. The system predicts that Tang San will encounter them after reaching level 30 and assigns Li Zhiyan the task of taking the Soul Ring first 26.
