Background / History

Departure from the White Tiger Duke’s Mansion

Huo Yuhao leaves the White Tiger Duke’s Mansion carrying a deep grievance against its household. He later insists that he must personally kill his enemy so that his mother can rest in peace. Childhood malnutrition had also degraded his original White Tiger Evil Eyes Martial Soul into Spirit Eyes 47 63 107.

In the Star Dou Great Forest, he struggles against a ten-year Wind Baboon until Chu Qing kills it with an arrow. Although embarrassed by Chu Qing’s criticism, Huo Yuhao remains determined to become a Soul Master, even if he can obtain only a white Ten-Year Soul Ring. He gratefully accepts an offer of help finding a suitable spiritual-type beast 30.

Chu Qing’s assistance conceals an attempt to interfere with Huo Yuhao’s encounter with the Sky Dream Ice Silkworm. The Will of the Plane prevents Chu Qing from attacking him and pressures Chu Qing into abandoning a plan to lead him away 30.

Sky Dream and Entry into Shrek

The Sky Dream Ice Silkworm chooses Huo Yuhao for his mental attribute and becomes his First Soul Ring. During their fusion, a fragment of Electrolux’s divine consciousness enters Huo Yuhao’s Sea of Spirit and settles into a gray bead 31.

When Tang Ya and Bei Bei mistake the unconscious Huo Yuhao’s situation for an attack, they fight Chu Qing. Huo Yuhao intervenes on their behalf and supports them with Spiritual Sharing. Afterward, Tang Ya offers him the Tang Sect’s examination-free admission place at Shrek Academy, with conditions attached 32 33. He subsequently joins the Tang Sect and attends Shrek, where the Soul Tool Department takes an interest in him 47.

Failed Ice Empress Recruitment

Sky Dream takes Huo Yuhao to the Far North to obtain the Ice Empress as his Second Martial Soul. After discovering Sky Dream’s concealed intentions, Huo Yuhao accuses his companion of deception and fears being made into a puppet. Their argument delays their escape when the Snow Empress approaches 47.

Forced to abandon the captured Ice Empress, they flee her pursuit. Electrolux awakens and shelters them in his Undead Demiplane 47. Electrolux later grants Huo Yuhao the Holy Necromancer Martial Soul instead; the Ice Empress does not become his Second Martial Soul 62.

Soul Master Tournament

Huo Yuhao competes as a member of Shrek’s reserve team. Wang Yan values his judgment, team loyalty, and understanding of the bigger picture, but considers his cultivation too low for the captaincy 61. Huo Yuhao proposes using the reserves to investigate Chu Qing’s abilities and volunteers to draw lots, claiming at least a ninety-percent chance of obtaining a team battle 65.

Against Qianling Academy, he combines spiritual support with undead summons and blood sacrifices. Unable to secure victory, he accepts power from the Evil Eye Holy King despite Electrolux’s warning that conceding would do him no real harm. The agreement includes helping the Holy King slaughter the Dai family—a condition Huo Yuhao accepts without moral hesitation 67 69 73.

Following the battle, he helps Ma Xiaotao stimulate her Evil Fire so that she can contribute more against Chu Qing. He warns that her next Martial Soul activation will transform her Evil Fire Phoenix into an Evil Fire Black Phoenix 76. Shrek supplies Huo Yuhao and several teammates with further cultivation resources, but the academy ultimately loses the final 78 87 90.

Holy Spirit Cult Interest

On Shrek’s return journey, Holy Spirit Cult members address Huo Yuhao as their “Holy Son.” Long Xiaoyao seeks to take him away, arguing that his unusual Martial Soul could offer hope for Evil Soul Masters. He promises to make Huo Yuhao his personal disciple and protect him, but Mu En refuses to surrender him 90.

As Mu En’s condition deteriorates, he warns Huo Yuhao that the cult will try again after his death. He advises him to hide with Dai Huabin and Zhu Lu if war breaks out and remain concealed until they reach Limit Douluo. Huo Yuhao, unwilling to lose his master, offers to turn him into an undead being; Mu En instead intends for his soul to return to Shrek’s Golden Tree 91.

Inheritable Soul Spirit Research

Chu Qing requests Huo Yuhao’s assistance in developing Inheritable Soul Spirits. Huo Yuhao initially resists visiting Star Dou because Di Tian killed Ma Xiaotao and Yan Shaozhe. Electrolux nevertheless supports the project’s potential to transform the Soul Master world and believes it could allow Huo Yuhao to gain faith power 98.

Huo Yuhao later reports that he has developed a version that does not require Soul Bones. He withholds its introduction while Shrek benefits from the stronger Soul Bone-dependent version and while he prepares an unspecified backup plan 107. His successful development of the technology is subsequently acknowledged within Shrek 112.

Xuan Zi praises the decision to designate him as a Sea God Pavilion successor two generations ahead. Huo Yuhao later rejects the prospect of becoming Pavilion Master, recommending Xuan Zi and then Bei Bei instead. He also asks permission to leave Shrek to search for Tang Ya, recognizing Bei Bei’s unspoken distress over her absence 107.

Personality

Huo Yuhao begins with pronounced inferiority and timidity, but remains determined to cultivate despite his weakness. Receiving the Million-Year Soul Ring gradually strengthens his confidence. His gratitude is sincere: even after Chu Qing defeats his companions, he defends Chu Qing as someone who saved his life 30 33.

Shrek becomes a home to him, and protecting its reputation increasingly drives his decisions. He supports teammates, attempts to rally them after defeat, and earns Wang Yan’s approval for his sense of collective responsibility 61 67 90. That loyalty can also become self-destructive: he sacrifices his blood and teeth in battle and accepts dangerous external power rather than concede 69 73.

His compassion coexists with deep resentment. He wants to ease conflict between humans and Soul Beasts, yet privately intends to avenge his mother and accepts the prospect of slaughtering the Dai family 73 107. He refuses Mu En’s proposed intervention against his enemies, both because he wants revenge personally and because he does not want his teacher’s reputation stained 107.

A spiritual Martial Soul descended from the Evil-Eyed White Tiger. Its original White Tiger Evil Eyes form deteriorated through childhood malnutrition before later evolving again 63 76.
