Appearance

  • Human form: Long emerald hair tied into twin ponytails with golden ornaments, a crown, orange-gold eyes, a green shawl, a white top, and a long emerald skirt 47.
  • Facial markings: Four emerald-green demonic markings on each side of her face 47.
  • Skin: Snow-white and translucent, with green light faintly flowing beneath it 47.
  • Scorpion traits: Can extend an Ice Jade Scorpion tail while in human form; her hands and forearms become covered in diamond-like granules when using Ice Emperor’s Wrath 48.
  • True form: An Ice Jade Emperor Scorpion. Its spiritual manifestation is large enough to fill Chu Qing’s Sea of Consciousness even while suppressed 50.

Personality

The Ice Empress is proud, quick-tempered, and openly contemptuous of humans. She initially treats Chu Qing as potential food and proposes extracting his secrets before eating him. During their equal-cultivation test, she refuses to accept the Snow Empress’s judgment that she has lost and eventually releases her full power 48 49.

Her attachment to the Snow Empress and loyalty to her clan drive her most consequential decisions. She angrily opposes the Snow Empress becoming a human’s Soul Spirit, then ultimately stakes her entire clan on the same path to godhood. Before the ceremony, she offers to surrender her leadership to any clan member unwilling to participate 49 50.

She enjoys teasing and intimidating others, often pinching Chu Qing’s face or demanding concessions before helping him. That confidence has limits: when Chu Qing intertwines his scorpion tail with hers, she blushes, slaps him, and retreats into the Second Sea of Consciousness 50 75 97.

Her concern for humans remains selective. She kills two unfamiliar Titled Douluo without consulting Chu Qing and later regards Chen Hanyu’s survival as secondary to her own interests. Nevertheless, she shows embarrassment when told Chu Qing knows the dead men and offers to help bury them 52 89.

Abilities & Skills

Ultimate Ice and Innate Combat Abilities

Her ice attribute and physical resilience underpin her standing among the Far North’s strongest beasts 48.

  • Eternal Frozen Domain: Forms solid ice more than a hundred meters thick around her. She considers the Far North itself her natural domain 48.
  • Ice Emperor’s Wrath: Hardens her hands and forearms with diamond-like granules; a strike punches through Chu Qing’s Azure Hair Bull Python 48.
  • Scorpion tail: Used for piercing attacks, restraint, and close-range intimidation 48 75.
  • Physical durability: Withstands Chu Qing’s concentrated attack during their test, although the Snow Empress attributes this to her body’s superiority rather than equal-level combat performance 48.
  • Full-power release: Overwhelms Chu Qing’s petrification and shatters his Azure Hair Bull Python after she abandons the test’s restriction 49.

Faith Soul Ring

The Ice Empress and her clan produce Chu Qing’s ice-jade-colored Sixth Soul Ring. Its deeper function is revealed as a Faith Soul Ring, gathering the collective power of the Ice Jade clan 50 94.

  • Allows her to draw the clan’s faith into herself and merge its Soul Spirits into her manifestation 94.
  • Grants access to every innate skill of the Ice Jade clan across its history, including abilities she did not originally possess and those yet to appear 94.
  • Gives her the Ice Explosion Technique, which she later uses to blast the Golden Titan Giant Python apart from within 94 103.
  • Makes her manifested body solid enough to appear living in every respect 94.
  • Her operation outside her original body still raises the issue of Chu Qing’s ability to sustain her with Soul Power, a limitation Xiong Jun explicitly challenges 95.

Wrath of the Northern Lands

The Million-Year Sixth Soul Ring grants Chu Qing Wrath of the Northern Lands, which the Ice Empress can activate through him 51 52.

  • Summons Ice Jade Scorpion ice sculptures matching the number and cultivation of her clan members 51.
  • Becomes substantially stronger when she and the clan’s Soul Spirits possess the sculptures 51.
  • Can descend as an Ice Jade Meteor Shower, with a scorpion sculpture inside each falling meteor 52.
  • Kills two Titled Douluo in its first documented deployment outside the sacrifice site 52.
  • Is not unstoppable: the Golden Titan Giant Python’s Gravity Field redirects the meteor shower upward, allowing it to flee 102.

Ice Jade Scorpion Emperor Transformation

The fused Million-Year Soul Bone uses the Ice Empress’s torso bone as its foundation. Its skill strengthens Chu Qing and gives him the Ice Jade clan’s innate abilities 51.

  • Basic form: Human form 51.
  • Advanced form: Half-human, half-scorpion; later shown increasing Chu Qing’s height to over nine meters 51 115.
  • Ultimate form: Bone-scorpion form 51.
  • Earlier use produces extra arms, pincers, and a scorpion tail, while its Ultimate Ice presence suppresses An Lengye’s Frost Bear Martial Soul 55.

Spiritual Techniques and Soul Spirit Research

She and the Snow Empress revise Chu Qing’s Soul Spirit Secret Method by combining it with Soul Beast sacrifice 50.

  • Coordinates her clan’s souls during the shared contract and guides weaker scorpions into Chu Qing’s Sea of Consciousness 50.
  • Uses the Blade of Life’s Watch to stabilize clan members’ souls 50.
  • Helps open Chu Qing’s Second Sea of Consciousness when the original becomes overcrowded, also awakening his Eye of Life as differently colored pupils 75.
  • Requires Chu Qing’s cooperation for this internal spiritual work despite possessing much greater spiritual power than him 75.

Possession and Attribute Amplification

The Ice Empress identifies Chen Hanyu’s Martial Soul as a temporary vessel for the Snow Empress, then joins her in possessing Chen Hanyu’s body 85.

  • Controls Chen Hanyu during Qianling Academy’s tournament match 85 86.
  • Amplifies An Lengye with Ultimate Ice and Snow, transforming her Frost Tornado into an arena-filling blizzard 87.
  • Uses Chen Hanyu’s Umbrella Spirit position-switching while attacking with the Snow Empress’s Emperor Sword: Ice Extreme Peerless 87.
  • The possession endangers Chen Hanyu’s body, making the subsequent journey to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well necessary 85 88.

Cooperation with the Snow Empress

  • Northern Darkness Mysterious Light Qi: Their combined attack wounds Xiong Jun after he attacks with Sky-Rending Claw 94.
  • Domain fusion: Her Eternal Frozen Domain joins with the Snow Empress’s domain and Chu Qing’s Slow Domain, ultimately becoming Cold Slow Heaven Delay Domain 51.

Equipment / Items

  • Blade of Life’s Watch: Claims Chu Qing’s Gold of Life blade after forming their contract. Uses it to stabilize souls, drain residual life force from corpses, and open a passage into the Second Sea of Consciousness 50 52 75.
  • Hundred-Thousand-Year Snow Lotus: Initially intended for her human recultivation, but given to Chu Qing to strengthen him before the clan’s sacrifice 49 50.
  • Preserved clan remains: Retains her original corpse and the bodies of the hundred-thousand-year Ice Jade King Scorpions in Chu Qing’s Spirit Rhinoceros Ring. Says they can be refined with ice extreme divine crystal into at least divine weapons 52.
  • Claimed divine artifact: Tells Xiong Jun that the God of the Sky has entrusted her and the Snow Empress with a divine artifact, but refuses to show it 94.

Relationships

  • Snow Empress — Closest ally and partner in pursuing godhood. Their bond leads the Snow Empress to request that Chu Qing eventually take the Ice Empress with him to the Divine Realm 49. They later fight and undertake a divine inheritance together 94.
  • Chu Qing — Initially prey and an unwelcome prospective partner; later her contracted host and the foundation of her clan’s attempt to become gods. Their interactions mix cooperation, threats, bargaining, and flirtation 48 50 75.
  • Ice Jade Scorpion clan — Her subjects and fellow Soul Spirits. She leads their collective sacrifice, protects their souls, and draws on their faith 50 94.
  • Sky Dream Ice Silkworm — Calls her “Bingbing” and tries to capture her for Huo Yuhao. She despises him, pursues him after escaping, and regards him as food rather than a prospective companion 47 62.
  • Huo Yuhao — Intended recipient of her power in the Sky Dream Ice Silkworm’s failed plan. She never becomes his second Martial Soul in the depicted events 47 62.
  • Chen Hanyu — Temporary possession vessel. The Ice Empress shows little concern for the damage to her body, though she later offers the possibility of instruction 85 89 97.
  • An Lengye — Receives her attribute amplification during the tournament and later follows her in hopes of gaining guidance 87 97.
  • Xiong Jun — Rival whom she provokes and helps wound. His humiliation at the empresses’ hands motivates him to train his bloodline ability more seriously 94 106.

History

Capture and Meeting Chu Qing

The Sky Dream Ice Silkworm traps the Ice Empress in his shed skin, intending to make her Huo Yuhao’s second Martial Soul. The Snow Empress arrives with Chu Qing, and the two empresses break the seal together. The Ice Empress pursues the fugitives but loses their trail after Huo Yuhao falls into Electrolux’s Undead Demiplane 47.

After returning, she learns about Chu Qing’s Soul Spirit Secret Method. At the Snow Empress’s suggestion, she tests him with her cultivation suppressed. His domains and transformations overwhelm her restricted movements; unwilling to concede, she ultimately breaks the restriction and retaliates at full strength 48 49.

Choosing the Soul Spirit Path

Chu Qing leads both empresses to the Earth Dragon Sect’s Ten-Thousand-Year Profound Ice Marrow. The Ice Empress initially chooses human recultivation and asks the Snow Empress to protect her until rank seventy, but the Snow Empress remains committed to becoming Chu Qing’s Soul Spirit 49.

After studying and revising the contract method together, the Ice Empress abandons recultivation. She gathers her clan, strengthens Chu Qing with the Snow Lotus, and leads a voluntary collective sacrifice. Their souls enter a shared contract, while their power and bones form his unique Million-Year Soul Ring and Soul Bone 50 51.

Tournament and Ice-Spring Expedition

The Ice Empress accompanies Chu Qing beyond the Far North and later helps create a Second Sea of Consciousness to house the clan. During the tournament’s deciding matches, she negotiates two months of control over Chu Qing’s body in exchange for helping solve his team’s disadvantage, then fights through Chen Hanyu instead 52 75 85 87.

After the tournament, the group travels to the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well to address Chen Hanyu’s condition. The Ice Empress leaves Chen Hanyu’s body to absorb the ice spring through her sculpture and later erects a barrier to keep the released cold from damaging ordinary spirit plants 88 89.

Confrontation with the Ferocious Beasts

During Chu Qing’s negotiations with Di Tian, the Ice Empress deliberately provokes the Great Ferocious Beasts and argues that they must first demonstrate their strength. She reveals the Faith Soul Ring’s capabilities and joins the Snow Empress in wounding Xiong Jun. The pair also disclose their progress in a god’s inheritance 93 94.

She subsequently returns with Chu Qing and the Snow Empress during the purge of senior human Spirit Transmitters at the North Spirit Pagoda, undertaken to prevent the Soul Spirit method from enabling Artificial Soul Spirits 97.

Hunt for the Eighth Soul Ring

When Chu Qing reaches level eighty, she assists in hunting a roughly two-hundred-thousand-year Golden Titan Giant Python. Its Gravity Field initially defeats the meteor shower, but the group catches it again. On the Snow Empress’s order, the Ice Empress uses Ice Explosion Technique to kill it, then dispatches her clan to guard the area while Chu Qing absorbs its ring 102 103.
