What Are You Looking At?
"Lin Sui!"
Startled by the sudden interruption, Su Fuxi sloshed her wine and immediately reached out to seize Lin Sui's wrist. "What are you doing?!"
She had been floating on air as the female cultivators waited on her. Seeing Ruolian approach Lin Sui and throw herself into his arms, she had thought the boy would accept the beauty's attentions.
Lin Sui met her eyes, then looked down at the hand gripping his wrist. Su Fuxi followed his gaze and immediately snatched her hand back.
Lin Sui took out a handkerchief and wiped the fingers he had just used. Looking at the female cultivator with disgust, he said coldly, "Sorry. I thought someone was trying to harm me."
He turned an innocent face to Su Fuxi. "Master~ I don't like other people getting close to me."
"You-" Su Fuxi held his gaze for a moment, then abruptly found herself at a loss for words.
Suddenly, she waved her hand, and a bottle of healing pills landed on Ruolian, whose eyes were brimming with tears. The woman's face was pale, but she didn't dare make a sound. In their line of work, unreasonable customers were all too common.
Besides, Lin Sui was a Golden Core cultivator. She didn't dare voice the slightest complaint.
"Thank you, Senior..." Ruolian said through the pain, clutching the medicine bottle.
"You..." Su Fuxi had no wish to force the matter, so she told the women to leave. She casually tossed a storage bag to the female cultivator who had been feeding her spirit fruit. "All of you, go on. Take this to make up for the fright."
"Thank you, Senior!"
The female cultivators hurriedly helped Ruolian up and left the room.
Once outside, Ruolian swept her spiritual sense over the medicine bottle. Only then did she discover that it contained high-grade healing pills-ten whole pills!
In the Fallen Dragon Marsh, she would have had to spend over ten thousand spirit stones to buy this bottle. She glanced back at the tightly shut door, deeply grateful to Su Fuxi.
"Oh, Sister Lian, look!"
The female cultivator holding the storage bag cried out in surprise. "That senior actually gave us tens of thousands of spirit stones!"
Ruolian swallowed a healing pill and checked the storage bag. No more, no less, there were exactly forty thousand spirit stones-just enough for the four of them to have ten thousand each.
"Senior is a good person."
Her disciple was a bad fellow, though. Ruolian was as observant as a single strand of hair was fine, and she had already noticed that the way Lin Sui looked at Su Fuxi was very strange.
Su Fuxi had planned to spend the night at the Lovesickness Pavilion.
After the women left, the room fell completely silent.
"Tsk!" She dispelled her disguise and pulled back her hood, returning to her original appearance. Sitting up properly, she smoothed her robes and looked at Lin Sui across from her. "I told you to enjoy yourself. What was that about?"
"I finally brought you out to broaden your horizons, and you weren't even willing."
"Master, you're worrying too much. I simply don't like being close to others."
Lin Sui poured another cup of wine and carefully set it before her. He apologized without much sincerity. "I'm sorry. Your disciple spoiled your enjoyment, Master."
Her enjoyment? Though she had been a little reluctant to see it end, Su Fuxi couldn't actually have a yuri relationship with a female cultivator now, nor was she interested in one.
She looked steadily at Lin Sui. Setting everything else aside, the bond between her and Lin Sui as master and disciple probably wouldn't last much longer. She reached for her cup and said:
"Never mind. If you're unwilling, then let it be. This is the first time we've drunk together as master and disciple."
"Beneath the Lovesickness Sect stands the Lovesickness Pavilion; within the Lovesickness Pavilion, one longs for worldly pleasures. What a fine Lovesickness Pavilion!" Su Fuxi suddenly looked toward the enormous window, where a beautiful dancer was flying through the air, scattering flowers like a heavenly maiden. Her exclamation was somewhat heartfelt.
A moment later, she lowered her eyes to the wine in her cup.
"Don't laugh at me, but this is actually the first time in hundreds of years that I've come out to enjoy the mortal world."
Her voice carried a faint melancholy.
Lin Sui looked at her cheeks, slightly flushed with wine, lovely as peach blossoms in full bloom. They set off the pale pink gauze skirt showing beneath her black robe.
He glanced at the window but said nothing. In his heart, the vastest mortal world and all its finest wonders were embodied in the one person before him.
"Come, let's have a toast." Su Fuxi gave a refreshingly forthright smile, a rare sight. "May worldly cares never follow you, and may you soar to the heights on your immortal path."
Yet she felt even more melancholy inside, silently cursing herself for wearing a human face over a beast's heart and plotting to seize a junior's body.
And yet her words were so high-sounding. Her face and heart were at odds.
Lin Sui paused, then raised his cup and gently clinked it against hers. He watched her throw her head back with carefree abandon, though she seemed troubled, and drain her wine in one gulp. In the blink of an eye, no Flying Rosy Clouds remained in her cup.
He paused before bringing his own cup to his lips.
Su Fuxi set down her jade cup and watched Lin Sui drink slowly. His handsome face was so young and full of vitality. A thought suddenly came to her: if... if her possession failed, then she might as well be struck down by the five heavenly thunders and sent to hell. Lin Sui wouldn't even need to kill his master himself.
She sometimes cursed her disciple for his great disrespect, but wasn't she herself offending heaven's harmony and disregarding the bonds of human decency?
Cultivating immortality was hard...
The atmosphere suddenly fell quiet.
Lin Sui abruptly raised his eyes and met hers. She quickly turned naturally toward the window, but Lin Sui was certain now: Master was hiding something from him. Perhaps it was her great secret?
But it definitely wasn't the matter of her disguising herself and coercing him to remove the poison.
Given Su Fuxi's nature, such a matter of wind, flowers, snow, and moon would never have troubled or worried her in the slightest.
Especially when she suddenly rose, took up the wine pot and her cup, and leaned against the window to watch the decadent song and dance.
"Master, Flying Rosy Clouds has a strong aftereffect. Don't drink too much."
Lin Sui walked over and studied her expression, intent on uncovering her secret.
What exactly was her secret?
"Cultivators don't get drunk easily." Su Fuxi shook her head without looking at him.
Her eyes seemed hazy, but in truth she was perfectly clearheaded. She leisurely poured her wine, then raised her cup with a smile to a dancer just flying past the window.
The dancer immediately gave her a coquettish smile and winked. Her lips formed the words, "An immortal guest visits Lovesickness; let one long dream end in drunkenness~ Hehe~"
Her coy laughter was shut out by the window, faint as ripples on water, as her graceful figure drifted away.
The woman in the peach-blossom-pink skirt stood before the window, her profile delicate and lovely. Sensing the gaze resting on her face, she suddenly turned to the young man in black robes and blue clothes. "What are you looking at?"
Her gaze was faintly cold.
His gaze had been somewhat unrestrained just now. Lin Sui hastily looked away, fixing his eyes on the windowsill. "This pavilion never sleeps. Master, you're going to the Spirit Radiance Pavilion for the trade fair tomorrow. You should rest early."
It was nearly midnight, yet the Lovesickness Pavilion remained extraordinarily lively, its lights bright as day.
You Tom had better be looking at the sleepless pavilion!
Hmph, wicked disciple!
She scolded him softly in her heart.
Su Fuxi shook the empty wine pot. "Fine. You have a point."
Her interest had faded.
She casually tossed the wine pot and jade cup behind her, and Lin Sui caught them. She walked over to the enormous bed behind the screen.
She formed a seal to clean the bed curtains, then tipped sideways and lay down. With a wave of her fingertips, the pinkish-red curtains dropped and closed on their own.
"Just find somewhere to meditate. Don't disturb me before it's time."
Her voice came from within the bed, drowsy with wine. Without waiting for a response, she fell silent, leaving only the sound of her soft, even breathing.
The room was very spacious, with the bed taking up more than half of it.
Lin Sui cleaned up the somewhat messy tabletop, shut the window, and thoroughly sealed the restrictions, shutting out every disturbance.
He went around the screen and stood before the bed. His spiritual sense passed through the curtains, revealing Su Fuxi's face, flushed like flying rosy clouds. She was actually already drunk.
She simply hadn't lost her reason, and her spiritual sense hadn't grown muddled.
Lovesickness Flying Rosy Clouds Wine was intoxicating indeed.
After watching her for a long while, Lin Sui left her undisturbed this time and sat down to cultivate outside the screen.
Spiritual energy was so sparse that he was forced to learn from the Spirit-Corroding Insects, refining and absorbing spirit crystals. He could distinctly feel his cultivation increase by a small degree.
To keep his cultivation from growing too quickly and appearing unstable, he refined it again and again, compressed it over and over, and held it firmly at the middle stage.
"Hey, boy, why aren't you cultivating the Yin Nether Mystery-Surging Scripture this old man passed down to you? That's the cultivation method suited to your constitution, one that points straight to the great Dao."
The sword spirit had awakened from cultivating his spirit body, and his tone was puzzled.
Lin Sui said, "I've already learned the basics. The second level would stir up the energy here, and I can't wake Master."
The sword spirit was speechless for a long moment. "...Boy, has your master become your inner demon?"
Lin Sui ignored him.
The sword spirit suddenly gave a wicked, alluring smile. "Heh, boy, you don't seem much like a righteous cultivator. Even a thoroughly upright cultivation method like the Azure Cloud Scripture couldn't set you straight. Are you planning to walk the demonic path?
"Haha, that's not out of the question. Why don't you just follow me and cultivate the No Falsehood Dao!
"Once you form your Nascent Soul, just seize your master and come with this old man to the Demon Prison Realm. You can do as you please!"
Lin Sui fell silent for a moment. Although he was outrageously disrespectful and coveted his master, he had no intention of betraying his sect for now, much less of becoming a bandit and carrying her off.
"Senior, don't corrupt my Dao heart!"
"Hahaha! If your Dao heart is firm, I naturally won't be able to shake it. If I do, it only means your Dao heart isn't strong enough!"
The sword spirit's voice still sounded like a youth's, but now it carried a hint of temptation. "With your gifts, you belong in my Demon Prison Realm. This old man's Yin Nether Scripture is an emperor-grade cultivation method. Enter my No Falsehood Dao and dominate this Human Realm, and then you can have whatever you desire..."
At the same time, wisps of the sword spirit's soul power began probing into the space between Lin Sui's brows, entering his sea of consciousness.
Lin Sui frowned. Although he did plan to cultivate to the peak of the Human Realm himself, he didn't want anyone other than Su Fuxi telling him what to do!
He steadied his mind, and his consciousness detected something amiss in his spiritual altar. Lin Sui kept his eyes tightly shut, a fierce, savage look appearing on his face.
A moment later, a miserable scream rang out in his sea of consciousness.
"Ah!"
"Wh-what's going on?!"
