The Holy City of Radiant Church, Fenlai City.
Feeding pigeons in the plaza of the Radiant Temple was one of Jason's early sightseeing plans.
This was Jason's first time in Fenlai City. Veronica didn't want to come, Linda and the others felt that all human cities were pretty much the same, so only Jason came.
Jason's goal this time was very clear: to pass on the Fate Law.
Jason believed that destroying the Radiant Church would absolutely affect Linley's birth. Veronica herself had not asked Jason to do so, so Jason chose to avoid conflict with the Radiant Church as much as possible.
A large number of high-ranking members of the Radiant Church were gathered around the Radiant Temple. Jason glanced around to see who might possess information about Fate Law.
So, that evening, Jason arrived at a house in Fenlai City and found himself facing a Cardinal was tied up.
"I apologize for my intrusion in visiting so late at night; I hope you do not mind."
Cardinal Stampfli, who had just been awakened from his sleep, found himself bound and sitting in front of a stranger.
Stampfli had risen to the position of Cardinal, was no ordinary man. Realizing he couldn't break free from his constraints, he calmed down. Looking at the person opposite him, he saw a thin mist covering their face, obscuring their features.
"A master, at least at the Peak Saint," Stampfli, a Ninth-level Warrior, judged.
"What brings you here, sir?"
"It's like this, I sensed a trace of the power of destiny surrounding you, and I wanted to ask His Excellency the Cardinal if he had any methods for cultivating the Fate Law." Jason originally intended to go directly to the Pope, but when he scanned the area with his divine sense, he discovered that this Ninth-level Warrior was actually surrounded by the power of destiny, so he decided to come and inquire about the information in the middle of the night.
"The Fate Law is a closely guarded secret of our Radiant Church. I once signed a contract with my soul, and if it were revealed, my soul would perish. I have no right to pass it on to outsiders," Stampf politely declined.
In reality, Stampf never made such a contract. The Fate Law was just a magic spell, and the Radiant Church had already revealed it after so many years of existence. This secret was not as valuable as a cardinal.
In his view, although Jason was powerful, his attitude was good, and he himself had learned the Fate Law, which allowed him to conceal his intentions under the Divine Power of the Saint-level.
So he decided to try and negotiate first, to see if there was any chance of a turnaround.
Jason stared at the other person for a while. "Hmm, Ninth-level Warrior, but his Divine Power is only level eight. It seems the rumors are true. The Fate Law can only be used as an auxiliary skill before reaching the Saint-level. You need to use other methods to break through to the Saint-level before you can formally cultivate it."
Jason could tell the other party was lying. He hesitated whether to directly search the soul. With his Saint-level- level Necromancy, searching an eighth-level soul would definitely kill the other party, which could potentially affect Linley's fate.
But directly pressing for answers risks providing inaccurate information.
Fenlai City is too close to Wushan Town; Jason's unintentional actions could have a huge impact on the future birth of Linley.
"Forget it, it's such a small matter, just go find the Pope." Jason placed a hand on the other person's head, erasing his memory.
Jason can handle this small matter.
Jason scanned the interior structure of the Radiant Temple.
"These are the fanatics? Interesting." Jason's divine sense landed on several warriors on the seventh floor of the temple.
Individually, each fanatic is unremarkable, but when several fanatics walk together, a problem becomes apparent—their Battle-qi fluctuations are exactly the same.
Jason still remembered that in the original story, Linley was once defeated by a battle formation of six people from the Radiant Church, and at that time, Doehring Cowart was surprised that the people from the Radiant Church could achieve complete uniformity of their internal energy.
"Is it energy directly supplied from the outside?" Jason wondered.
Jason communicated with the Violet-Eyed Bladewing Fiend and learned that powerful Demon could directly infuse their power into weaker creatures, forcibly enhancing their strength. Of course, this had significant drawbacks, because after the energy was infused, the person could not cultivate on their own unless a special method was used to dispel all the abnormal energy; moreover, this method could not break through to the Saint-level, because the body would reject the external energy, and the comprehension of the laws would be reduced to a minimum, making it almost impossible to break through to the Saint-level on one's own.
Demon often use this method to lure humans from the Material Plane into corruption, forcing them to sacrifice their souls, perform blood sacrifices, or summon Demon —the Demon sorcerers of the Luo'ao Empire rely on this method to enhance their strength. However, Jason heard that they have developed a method that allows them to continue cultivating even after using Demon to increase their power.
"No wonder the Fanatic Legion is one of the Radiant Church's trump cards; it seems it's not just based on faith. The ones infusing them with energy must be those Deity-level angels from the Light God Plane. I just wonder if they can continue cultivating after receiving external energy." Jason probed into the bodies of several Zealots with his divine sense, wanting to see the characteristics of the energy within them.
"Who?!" The unusual fluctuations in the Battle-qi within the bodies of several fanatics alerted them.
"Able to react to divine sense? It seems the fanatics of the Radiant Church are different from those Demon sorcerers!" Jason exclaimed.
Without further arguing with a few fanatics, Jason flew directly to the balcony of the Pope of Light's office.
Jason's stealth abilities weren't enough to evade the Radiant Temple's detection methods, but he didn't conceal his presence either. He simply relied on his speed to become a blurry figure and fly over. Some powerful individuals should have been able to see Jason break in.
The current pope is not Heidens, but Saint-level named "Allison". As for Heidens, he is now a high-ranking member of the Radiant Church.
Jason observed that the current Pope Allison possessed only a very weak power of destiny, not as strong as the cardinal from before. He was probably just going through the motions as Pope and had only learned a little bit of the basics.
The Radiant Church claims that the Fate Law has been passed down through generations of popes, but in reality, not every pope has the aptitude to practice the Fate Law.
"What brings you to the Radiant Temple?" Allison, a young man, looked out the window from his office and released the window's lock.
"You were able to sense my divine sense just now?" Jason pushed open the window and entered.
Allison stood up and pointed to the chair in front of the desk. "This is, after all, the Radiant Temple, the place on the entire continent closest to the Radiant Sovereign."
Jason nodded and sat down opposite Allison.
"Five days ago, the Vatican detected a surge of divine power; it must have been you, sir." Allison sat back down.
Jason vaguely remembered that in the original book, Heidens mentioned that one of his predecessors, a pope of the Radiant Church, had abandoned his faith in the Radiant Sovereign, which was probably Allison in front of him. He couldn't help but smile.
"It's me, and my last name Rhein," Jason readily admitted.
Allison raised an eyebrow. "The Rhine Clan truly produces outstanding talents. In four thousand years, you are the third member of the Rhine Clan to achieve Deity-level independently."
"Just luck." Jason wasn't in a hurry. "It seems the Radiant Church also has measures to counter Deity-level."
Before arriving, Jason discovered that many areas within the Radiant Church could not be explored with divine sense from the outside, which piqued his interest.
"To gain a foothold on the Yulan Continent, Deity-level power is indispensable."
"I have a question for you. Did the God of Light ever teach you anything about comprehending the laws of nature?" Jason asked.
Why do you ask that?
"As the Radiant Church of God of Light, it has never had a single person who has independently attained godhood in thousands of years." Jason sighed, "Even a small family like our Rhine Clan has books that guide the cultivation of the laws."
This time it was Allison's turn to sigh.
"After the high-ranking members of the church become gods, do the believers worship the God of Light, or the Deity-level within the Radiant Church?" Allison asked, as if answering Jason, but also as if asking himself.
The two remained silent for a while.
"Let's get down to business," Jason sat up straight. "I want the method for practicing the Fate Law."
Allison paused for a moment, then said, "You want this, sir." He pulled a book from his Interspatial Ring. "Remember to proceed gradually when you begin your cultivation—uh, never mind, never mind."
Jason wasn't about to take it for free. "This Blue Jade Fruit, once consumed, can increase your Divine Power by the equivalent of a Early-stage Saint-level mage, and for ten days it will sharpen your mind, helping you to seize inspiration."
The Blue Jade Fruit were given to Jason by Bili; there were ten in total, as a congratulatory gift for Jason's breakthrough to Deity-level.
Thank you.
"The Fate Law is a magical cultivation system that simplifies the 'prophecy' aspect of the Edicts of Fate, and it requires extremely high aptitude from the practitioner."
"Generally speaking, cultivators are required to reach the Saint-level first to comprehend the rules before they can begin cultivating. A small number of highly talented individuals can comprehend the rules before reaching the Saint-level and thus begin cultivating earlier. Before comprehending the corresponding rules, cultivators can only gather the power of destiny in a special energy-gathering array and attempt to comprehend the Edicts of Fate while surrounded by the power of destiny, without being able to release magic."
Only after reaching the Saint-level and refining the power of destiny within one's body can one unleash magic related to the Fate Law.
There is also a magical rune; drawing and studying it can help practitioners comprehend some of the rules of prophecy.
Turning to the last two pages, one depicts an energy-gathering array and the other a magical rune.
"The Fate Law is finally mine."
