Ten Thousand Immortals Cult
At the entrance to Jinghai University.
Su Han stood by the roadside, his face cold.
Xu Li...
The photos he had just seen flashed through his mind again and again.
The beach, the sunshine, the bikini, and Xu Li's radiant, smiling face.
He had never expected it. He truly had not.
Two years of love, all fed to the dogs in the end.
No wonder Xu Li had said those things in the recording Zhang Ping gave him. She had sold him out long ago, then gone off to enjoy herself.
"I really didn't know he would do something like this..."
"Someone like Su Han is too scary..."
Recalling Xu Li's testimony, he had originally thought she had been forced to say it.
But now that he thought about it, perhaps Xu Li had meant every word.
Still, thinking it over calmly, this was a lead.
If he could find Xu Li and question her face-to-face, perhaps he could learn something.
Who the people who had bought her off were, how much they had paid, and why they had framed him.
But the next second, Su Han shook his head.
Xu Li was a smart woman.
After taking the money, she had immediately deleted him from her friends list, and had just done the same to her best friend Li Sisi.
Having cut ties so completely, she had clearly made up her mind to sever all connections.
Find her?
Too difficult.
But... Xu Li still had parents.
After all, Su Han had been Xu Li's boyfriend and had visited her home a few times. He remembered that the old couple lived in the Jinhua Residential Community.
He just didn't know whether Xu Li's parents had moved away.
If they hadn't, perhaps he could get something out of them.
With that in mind, and having nothing else to do, Su Han decided to go take a look at Xu Li's home.
He raised his hand and hailed a taxi.
"Jinhua Residential Community, please."
Jinhua Residential Community.
It was only a middling residential community, but the surroundings were quite nice.
Xu Li's family lived in apartment 301, building three.
Su Han went upstairs.
The stairwell was quiet, with only the sound of his footsteps.
When he reached the third floor, he stood outside apartment 301 and raised his hand to knock.
"Knock, knock, knock-"
No one answered.
He knocked a few more times, harder this time.
"Knock, knock, knock! Knock, knock, knock!"
Still no response.
But he did attract the attention of the person across the hall.
A door opened a crack, and a woman in her sixties poked her head out. She looked at Su Han warily and asked,
"Who are you looking for?"
"Ma'am, I'm looking for Xu Li's family," Su Han replied.
"Old Xu's family?" The woman breathed a sigh of relief. "They're not home. They left a few days ago."
"Where did they go?" Su Han pressed.
"They said they were going on a trip with their daughter," the woman said, thinking back.
"They didn't say exactly where, but they were carrying all sorts of bags. It looked like they were going a long way."
"Thank you for telling me."
Su Han nodded and turned to go downstairs.
It seemed Xu Li's parents had run off with her.
But he had been prepared for that, so he wasn't too disappointed.
He went downstairs and was about to leave the community.
Suddenly, someone emerged from behind a landscaped strip nearby and blocked his path.
It was a young man, seemingly around twenty years old.
He wore a black baseball cap, its brim pulled low.
Even so, his eyes were visible. They were bright, and the way he looked at people held a trace of contempt, as though he held everyone beneath his notice.
"Su Han?" the man asked lazily.
Su Han stopped and warily stepped back.
Had those enemies come after him again?
Su Han's gaze hardened, his killing intent fully exposed.
A faint layer of force already covered his body, as though it could erupt at any moment.
But he didn't make a move right away.
He could sense something like a furnace inside the other man's body, as though something were burning within him.
It was rather strange.
Across from him, Zhao Lei showed not the slightest fear in the face of Su Han's stance and killing intent.
Instead, he sneered.
"No need to be so hostile. I'm not the one who killed your parents."
"Then who are you?" Su Han stared at him, his voice very low.
"Zhao Lei, of the Ten Thousand Immortals Cult," Zhao Lei said casually, as though it were some impressive identity.
The Ten Thousand Immortals Cult?
Su Han frowned.
He had never heard the name before.
"It's normal that you haven't heard of us." Zhao Lei saw his confusion.
"Our sect has always kept a fairly low profile."
"But that's not important. What matters is that we know who killed your parents."
Those words were like a boulder hurled into the sea, instantly stirring up monstrous waves in Su Han's heart.
"Who was it?" There was a note of urgency in Su Han's voice.
"Join the Ten Thousand Immortals Cult, and I'll tell you," Zhao Lei said teasingly.
"I'll join."
Su Han agreed without the slightest hesitation.
This time, it was Zhao Lei's turn to be stunned.
Everything he had prepared to say was now stuck in his throat.
He had thought Su Han would at least ask what the Ten Thousand Immortals Cult did, what rules it had, and whether there would be any danger...
Then he would explain everything one by one.
He had even prepared ways to boast, tempt him with benefits, and threaten him into joining.
But the man had just agreed, like that?
Without hesitating for even a second?
"You..." Zhao Lei opened his mouth, a little unsure what to say.
"You dare join without even asking what our Ten Thousand Immortals Cult does?"
Su Han shook his head, his gaze firm.
"I have only one goal: to avenge my parents. Nothing else matters."
Zhao Lei stared at him for a few seconds, then suddenly smiled, his smile a little strange.
"Interesting. Very interesting."
"Starting today, you're a menial disciple of the Ten Thousand Immortals Cult."
"You can raise your status by completing missions."
As he spoke, he pulled a small booklet from inside his clothes and casually tossed it to Su Han.
"This is our Ten Thousand Immortals Cult's basic cultivation technique. Keep it safe and take your time practicing."
The booklet was thin, its cover blank except for a single handwritten line: "Azure Waves Immortal Martial Arts: Body Tempering Chapter."
Su Han caught the booklet, opened it, and took a look.
Inside were handwritten passages and a few simple diagrams of the human body.
"The people who harmed your parents were from the Self-Circulating City," Zhao Lei continued.
"As for the one that handled everything, it's called the Sturgeon Group."
"Just investigate along those lines."
"As for more details... I'll tell you after your status rises."
Su Han's expression turned ugly.
He had the urge to blast the man to pieces with a single punch.
The guy was only telling him half the story, clearly keeping him in suspense.
And that contemptuous attitude and condescending tone infuriated him.
But he glanced at the cultivation technique in his hand and thought of the information the man possessed.
He held back.
"How do I contact you?" Su Han finally asked the crucial question.
Zhao Lei gave him his Fetion number.
"Add me on Fetion. I'll call you when there's a mission."
He turned to leave, but then looked back and added, in an even more arrogant tone,
"Until then, practice that cultivation technique properly. It's not something your trash secret martial art can compare with."
With that, he shoved his hands into his pockets and sauntered away.
His retreating figure soon vanished at the entrance to the community, leaving no trace.
