Was Harry Ready to Die?
Returning to Hogwarts felt like a William had passed.
It was just an Easter holiday, but it felt like many years had passed.
The bombing of the United States. Capitol, the eruption of Mount Ilvermorny, and the Prehistoric Mysteries of the Washington Monument...
All I can say is that he went through so much during this holiday that he was completely exhausted.
Of course, the most important thing was to obtain the Resurrection Stone and kill Tom.
This suddenly relieved William's tension, which had been building for four years.
His emotions fluctuated greatly, and so did Dumbledore's.
Inside the Headmaster's Office,
Dumbledore read William's memories six times without getting tired of them.
When he wanted to replay the video a seventh time, William quickly stopped him.
Good grief, I Taoism you hate Tom, Professor, but you don't need to keep dredging up his memory like this.
Dumbledore was naturally excited; his best-case scenario was that Tom would dismantle the Horcrux, giving him a chance to kill Voldemort.
Dumbledore even planned his own death to bring Voldemort to an end.
But William far exceeded his expectations!
Or rather, after William appeared, things took a sharp turn, and the gloom that had been hanging over his heart was swept away.
"William..." Dumbledore emotion.
"I believe that in the hundreds or thousands of years to come, when many people turn the page on this part of our History of Magic, they will simply move on and move on."
Only you can make someone slowly turn back to those pages in the quiet of the night and read them carefully a few more times.
Come on, let's have a drink!
Dumbledore was intrigued. He waved his wand, and a large bottle of chilled gin and two glasses appeared on the table.
William took the glass, drank it, hesitated for a moment, and then whispered, "Professor, that Horcrux Slytherin's Ring..."
Dumbledore's fingers trembled slightly. He took a sip of his drink to conceal his lapse in composure and said:
"Did you destroy it?"
"Tom's soul has been destroyed by me, and I've brought back the Resurrection Stone..."
After a brief silence, Dumbledore asked, "You've used it?"
William nodded.
After obtaining the ring, he immediately allowed Tom's soul to be absorbed by the Dementor.
Then the Resurrection Stone was used.
William attempted to summon the Four Founders and Merlin, but failed.
Unable to summon such a powerful wizard, William then summoned Professor Tywin and Barty Crouch Jr.., two Death Eaters.
"They both appeared," William recalled. "But they were neither ghosts nor living people; they were more like beings born from my memories."
If you wish to use the Resurrection Stone...
The stone lay quietly in William's pocket.
He rubbed his right hand in his pocket, and could even feel the symbol of the Deathly Hallows on the stone.
Dumbledore suppressed his desire, his expression turning painful and ferocious.
Ultimately, reason prevailed. The old man lowered his eyelids, looked at his knees, and said sorrowfully:
No, don't give it to me, William!
Do you remember that time? At Gaunt Shack, I lost control and went crazy trying to get the Resurrection Stone.
In that instant, I really wanted to see Ariana, my mother, my father...
"I'm a fool, a complete fool."
Tears welled up in Dumbledore's eyes. He took off his Half-moon Spectacles, wiped them, and said:
"The Resurrection Stone is too tempting for me. If it were in front of me, I would lose control and become completely addicted to it."
Just like when I was young, I was once captivated by the illusion of the Mirror of Erised.
The Resurrection Stone affected me more than anyone else. Its seductive power was strong enough to possess my mind and body, like the second brother in the Tale of the Three Brothers.
"Of Deathly Hallows, I am only fit to possess the most insignificant and useless Elder Wand." Dumbledore tapped the wand in his hand.
"I can tame it, I can use it, because I take it not to conquer, but to save."
"But facing that stone, I wanted to use it to pull those who have been sleeping for so long back into the world of the living."
This is absolutely unacceptable!
William, you are the one who truly deserves it.
The Resurrection Stone is yours to keep; I must never see it unless I die.
William sighed, but ultimately did not take out the Resurrection Stone.
The two remained silent, continuously drinking pine nut wine; the atmosphere was somewhat oppressive.
After finishing the bottle of wine, Dumbledore finally regained his composure and slowly asked:
"Now there are only two Horcrux left. Runespoor, I have already arranged for Professor Snape to deal with it."
"What do you plan to do with that Horcrux hidden in Gringotts?"
William had a plan in mind, and he replied:
"During the final battle, we trapped Voldemort."
Hermione will lead Anne, Cho, Cedric, the twins, and Neville... into Gringotts.
I'll also give Bellatrix to them; with Hermione around, there shouldn't be any problems."
Dumbledore felt the same way; with Hermione leading the team, he was very reassured.
"What do you plan to do with Bellatrix after you find Hufflepuff's Cup?" Dumbledore asked again.
William hesitated for a moment before saying, "I want to give it to Neville and Mrs. Longbottom."
"Neville..." Dumbledore, his expression complex.
"Speaking of which, I've always felt that the Sorting Hat was too hasty in the sorting process."
But sometimes, it is incredibly accurate.
"You mean Neville?" William asked.
"That's right." Dumbledore nodded.
Neville would probably be more comfortable in Hufflepuff than in Gryffindor, where the students are more tolerant, and he would grow up happier.
But Neville completely lost the ability to have courage.
The child lacked courage, but these very strengths were actually hidden within him.
Deep down, he also yearned for courage more than anyone else.
Hufflepuff doesn't need Neville, but Gryffindor needs Neville, and similarly, Neville needs Gryffindor.
"You've done a good job in this regard," Dumbledore said. "Always helping that boy build confidence."
William, you will surely become the greatest headmaster of Hogwarts in the future.
William was taken aback. Was this truly a sign of imperial decree?
The old man said sadly, "I'm no good. I've been a failure my whole life."
As a professor and as a university president, I clearly have a responsibility to guide and protect young people.
But over the years, I haven't done a good job... nor have I been able to protect many people."
William looked at Dumbledore.
It's unclear whether the old man was thinking of Tom, who had gone astray, or of James and Lily, who had sacrificed their lives.
Or perhaps... Harry.
The final battle is imminent, and the remaining two Horcrux are under our control.
The only problem is Harry; his lifespan depends on how long it takes to destroy all the Horcrux.
At this point, the final moment had undoubtedly arrived.
He should go and face his death.
"Harry... are you ready?" William finally asked.
Dumbledore opened his eyes, his lips moving as he spoke:
"I don't know... but I hope he does well."
