• Harry and his friends entered the Hall of Prophecy, where Malfoy revealed the trap, but Grawp’s arrival gave them a chance to escape with the Prophecy Orb.
• William traded the Prophecy Orb for Harry and Ron, then confronted Voldemort at the Ministry as Dumbledore and other wizards arrived, and Voldemort declared the Second Wizarding War.
• Dumbledore explained the founders’ connection to the River Styx, while Bones defeated Scrimgeour in the ministerial election and Harry’s friends finished their exams.

• William and Hermione investigated Tom’s Scourer gathering in New York, where Tom preached wizard supremacy and arranged for William to arrest him to advance his standing.
• William learned that the Scourers were abducting magical children to create an Obscurial and enlisted Newt, Tina, and Hermione to trace the missing children and their captor.
• William and Hermione found the children, including Lucas Picquery, in Graves’s hidden chamber and rescued them while Graves took Mera to the Congress execution chamber.
• William stopped Graves from sacrificing Mera, but Graves revealed that an Obscurus inside him would destroy New York, so William transferred the Obscurus through Vanishing Cabinets and escaped with Mera.
• William received public honors for saving New York, learned Newt’s method for handling an Obscurus, and returned to Britain with Hermione.
• Dumbledore asked William and Hermione to recruit Horace Slughorn, and William brought Harry along to approach him at his home.

• Cedric opened his wand shop with Akali’s Mystery Shop’s backing, while William worried that Death Eaters could obtain the Ministry’s order of powerful defensive cloaks.
• William agreed to supply the Ministry after it restricted the cloaks to Kingsley’s Aurors, and Mrs. Weasley told Ron and Harry their O.W.L. results.
• William warned Harry not to investigate Draco, then revealed to Hermione that he had placed a Vanishing Cabinet in his Gringotts vault to reach Bellatrix’s vault and Voldemort’s Horcrux.

Back at Hogwarts, William’s biography of Voldemort stirred attention, and Slughorn’s party brought him a chance to recruit Gwenog Jones for the Chudley Cannons.

• Ron borrowed Monica’s Nimbus 2200 for Keeper tryouts, but it spun out of control and carried him into the Forbidden Forest, where Hagrid rescued him.
• William and Hermione traced the Nimbus’s failure to a missing control mechanism, while Trelawney’s fire-divination lesson sparked a blaze that destroyed her classroom.
• Katie Bell was cursed by a bracelet, and Hermione extracted the curse before William destroyed its residue, and William then suspected Draco had arranged the attack.
• William confronted Draco in the Room of Requirement and accused him of cursing Katie and using Madam Rosmerta, then urged him to choose whether the Malfoys would serve Voldemort or William.
