History
Earlier Development
According to Ya Zhaoying, the household’s advancement from Ninth to Eighth Grade required 127 years and three generations; reaching Seventh Grade then required another 398 years and nearly ten generations. She credited merit earned against the Demon Race and invading True Martial World cultivators with shortening the latter process by one or two generations. The promotion nevertheless consumed almost all the strength and foundations accumulated by more than ten generations 350.
The household was reportedly connected to the Central Domain. Information gathered by the Kong Household suggested that it had come from there and retained deep ties, contributing to the Bifang Bi Household’s wariness toward it. Kong Wenxuan considered Ya Zhaoying’s later combat methods evidence that its bloodline inheritance had an exceptional origin 404 451.
Intervention Against the Du Household
The Shrike Lao Household invited five Ya cultivators to support more than thirty servant-cultivator lineages seeking release from the Cuckoo Du Household’s bloodline control. The scarlet-haired Ya representative promised to force Du to lift its ability and report its actions to the imperial court 54.
Du Yuxian revealed that drawing the Ya Household into the confrontation had been part of his own plan. Knowing of the Lao Household’s connections with Ya, he had arranged for information to reach it through other lineages 56.
During the Cuckoo Secret Realm’s collapse, Ya cultivators used their True Spirit Star projection to seize and preserve territory. They allowed the Kong Household to retain a mountain range it had protected and sheltered more than thirty surviving cultivators 68. The Ya Household also obtained a drop of False Phoenix blood from the Du Household 346.
Occupation of Cuckoo Town
Ya Zhaoying claimed the ruined Cuckoo County City for the household and renamed it Cuckoo Town. She suppressed looting with Fire Crow clones and ordered household members and servant lineages to rescue survivors and restore order 69.
The household retained its headquarters in Fire Crow County City rather than relocating. Cuckoo Town became an additional holding administered by stationed members 81. Its recovery attracted migrating bloodline lineages, from which Ya collected land, planning, and resettlement fees. Kong Changgeng remarked that the town had become livelier than under Du rule 93.
Control of Cuckoo Town also made defending Demon-Suppressing Pass a direct responsibility. The territory served both the household’s expansion plans and Ya Zhaoying’s efforts to acquire resources for higher cultivation 105.
Flying Peak Campaign
After Kong Wenxuan reported a suspected Third-Tier demon at Flying Peak, Ya Zhaoying identified it as the Earth Dragon that had previously ambushed her. She organized an expedition and invited the Kong Household to participate, offering to leave Flying Peak to it if the site proved suitable for settlement 126 129.
The campaign became another confrontation with the Du Household, whose demonized members had used rumors of the spirit medicine garden as bait. Anticipating an attack on Cuckoo Town while she was absent, Ya Zhaoying had summoned additional troops and two household Purple Mansion cultivators to prepare an ambush at Demon-Suppressing Pass 137.
At the Five Peaks, Ya forces joined the Kong Household in attacking the eastern peak while Ya Zhaoying suppressed the Five Elements Demon Array. Ya Xingqu offered a Third-Tier Demon Beast corpse and access to the garden’s medicines in exchange for Kong assistance 143.
Damage from Demon Thunder Pearls left fewer than one-tenth of the garden’s plants intact. The Ya Household retained the surviving garden and allowed its vassals to strip resources from surrounding peaks instead. It then removed the garden toward Fire Crow County; Flying Peak collapsed as the garden was carried away 155 156.
Wars and Seventh-Grade Promotion
The household earned substantial merit in the battles at the Mystic Crane Secret Realm, Black Crane County City, and Eastern Forest Great Marsh. Its Fire Crow County force was the first to breach the True Martial Hall, but Ya Xingheng died during the fighting 337 340 346.
After the Fire Crow True Spirit Star advanced to Seventh Grade, the household postponed its celebration for a year. Kong Wenxuan and his relatives inferred that this delay was intended to give Ya time to produce Golden Core cultivators under the newly promoted star’s protection 347.
By the celebration, both Ya Xinghe and Ya Zhaoying had reached Golden Core. Ya Zhaoying delivered the public Dao discourse, while Ya Xinghe appeared at the feast. The household’s higher rank secured a larger allocation of commandery-city trade, shops, rights, and benefits, including shares relinquished by the Kong Household 351.
The promotion also drew numerous wild-bloodline households seeking protection and service under Ya. Preparations for receiving them kept Fire Crow County orderly despite the influx 349 351.
Later Campaigns
The Ya Household joined the expedition into Qinggeng Commandery and continued fighting in the wars against demons and martial cultivators 360 362. During a later three-year campaign, Ya Tianyu became its third Golden Core True Person with access to a cultivation site provided by the Bi Household 458.
By the Bi Household’s Fifth-Grade promotion celebration, Ya Xinghe publicly gave the Kong Household precedence. Having observed its techniques and battlefield performance, Ya recognized that Kong’s strength had surpassed its own 476.
At Spirit Taming Pass, the Fire Crow County army suffered heavy losses against Fire Crow demons and their self-destructing earth-fire spirits. Ya’s effort to capture demons for their bloodline inheritance contributed to its retreat. Kong Wenxuan intervened when a Fourth-Tier Fire Crow demon overpowered Ya Zhaoying, severing its wing; she asked him to spare it for capture 547.
Territory and Administration
| Holding | Function and Features |
|---|---|
| Fire Crow County | Ancestral territory chosen for its volcanic terrain and abundant fire-element power. Temperatures are noticeably higher than outside the county 349. |
| Fire Crow County City | Household headquarters, built over an active volcanic crater. The volcano was reportedly suppressed and refined into a power source for formations, restrictions, alchemy, and artifact refining 349. |
| Cuckoo Town | Former Cuckoo County City, annexed after the Du Household’s fall. Initially overseen by Ya Zhaoying and later guarded by Ya Xingqu 69 349. |
| Demon-Suppressing Pass | Defensive stronghold protecting Cuckoo Town; Ya Xingqu served as its garrison commander before becoming the town’s guardian 126 349. |
| Ya Household Manor | Bifang Commandery City residence used for business, official dealings, intelligence gathering, and relations with other lineages 102 227. |
Servant-Cultivator Lineages
- Two principal groups: Long-established servants from Fire Crow County and former Du Household servants incorporated after the occupation of Cuckoo Town 128 146.
- Unequal standing: Some Fire Crow County servants looked down on the Cuckoo newcomers. The Yan, Ma, and Yun Households believed joining Ya would leave them near the bottom of its servant hierarchy 146 166.
- Military manpower: Nearly a thousand servant-lineage cultivators accompanied the Flying Peak expedition 146.
- Dependence on transport: Many expedition followers were only at Qi Refinement and relied on Ya’s Feather Boats to survive the nearly seven-thousand-li return journey 156.
Trade and Logistics
- Supply caravans: Sold the Kong Household pills, artifacts, talismans, formations, and other supplies during Peacock County’s development, earning substantial profits through price differences 176 178.
- Recruitment assistance: Helped Kong hire cultivators from Cuckoo Town and Fire Crow County for its territorial expansion 176.
- Boat rentals: Rented Fire Crow Feather Boats to Kong, including for its relocation. Kong later sought independent transport to avoid surrendering profits and exposing household secrets 220.
- Cross-border traffic: Kong caravans passed through Cuckoo Town en route to Bifang Commandery City; Ya hunting and resource-gathering parties used Peacock County for rest and resupply 349.

|---|---|
| Ya Xinghe | Patriarch and Fire Crow County magistrate; Golden Core True Person by the Seventh-Grade celebration 351. |
| Ya Zhaoying | Principal commander in the Cuckoo and Flying Peak campaigns; initially the household’s youngest Purple Mansion cultivator, later a Golden Core True Person 98 129 351. |

Abilities & Skills
Fire Crow Clone
The household’s signature Bloodline Divine Ability condenses flames into Fire Crow clones 86.
- Mass offense: Clones swarm, burn, and explode against enemies; large groups can combine into battle formations 85 86.
- Scalable deployment: Ya Zhaoying manifested three hundred clones, while a later household force deployed thousands across the battlefield 89 326.
- Limited defense: The ability is naturally better suited to attack than protection or rescue 86.
- Vulnerability to contamination: The Earth Dragon’s Flesh and Blood Sludge destroyed or contaminated many clones. Most affected Qi Refinement and Foundation Establishment cultivators could not promptly recreate them 89.
- Backlash: Heavy clone damage injures their users. Ya lacked the Fire Crow demons’ more advanced method of deploying expendable, self-destructing spirits 547.
Fire-Element Cultivation
Ya cultivators follow a fire-element inheritance associated with yang fire, distinct from the Bi Household’s Calamity Fire 280.
- Their Bloodline Divine Ability enhances fire-element Law Techniques 281.
- Water shaman martial cultivators substantially weakened their fire attacks in the Mystic Crane Secret Realm 321.
- Ya Zhaoying’s later methods burned and refined a Fourth-Tier Zhurong martial cultivator, impressing Kong Wenxuan with their killing power 451.
- The inheritance remains incomplete despite its strength; Fire Crow demons demonstrated applications the household had not mastered 547.
True Spirit Star and Battle Formations
The Fire Crow True Spirit Star supports coordinated combat, communication, and territorial preservation.
- Secret-realm protection: Its projection preserved and seized areas of the collapsing Cuckoo Secret Realm 68.
- Long-distance communication: Exchanged star imprints allowed direct contact with the Kong Household 75.
- Cross-realm striking power: Ya cultivators and Fire Crow Dao Soldiers produced a Starlight Fire Crow capable of a Third-Tier strike, at a severe cost to their strength 145.
- Formation dependence: Losing access to their clones sharply reduced the household cultivators’ collective killing efficiency 89.

- Shrike Lao Household — Early local contact that invited Ya to intervene against Du; later appeared among Ya’s servant-lineage forces 54 146.
- Black Crane He Household — Ya Tianyu criticized its habitual late arrivals at gatherings, while Jiao representatives attributed its arrogance to close ties with Bi 228.
