Loss of Standing and Commitment to Cultivation

Raised within the Dao-Seeking Academy as a privileged Cao Clan young master, Cao Youqian initially relies on wealth and family favor. After his transfer to the Miscellaneous Dao Institute, his former companions disappear. A trip to collect business dividends reveals that Cao Youde has seized the money; the Pill Dao Institute’s great elder then denies Cao Youqian further institute resources 25 272.

Lin Ping’an subsequently confronts him over Lianxin, alleging coercion. Cao Youqian insists that she approached him voluntarily and concealed her engagement. Xiao Chen’s intervention protects him, but the experience forces him to recognize how little he can do without strength. He returns to ask Chu Feng to teach him cultivation 27 28.

Academy Recognition

His rapid transformation attracts recruitment offers from elders of the Pill Dao and Heavenly Spirit Institutes, among others. He rejects all three offers, declaring that Chu Feng’s inheritance is no weaker than Xiao Chen’s 42.

His rivalry with Lin Ping’an leads to a scheduled duel on the Life-and-Death Platform. By the time they meet, Lin Ping’an’s Sword Qi cannot penetrate his defenses. Cao Youqian later wins the inner sect tournament by defeating Qin Qin in the final, bringing the championship to the Miscellaneous Dao Institute 62 63 115.

Great Void Secret Realm and Song Zhaoyi

Traveling alone in the Great Void Secret Realm, he earns a fearsome reputation and clears the Trial Tower’s ninth floor. Continued training inside the tower provides the practical foundation for fusing his many fist techniques 135 136 141.

He meets Song Zhaoyi after killing cultivators who attack him while pursuing her. Their travels include mining profound yin cold iron and confronting threats to academy disciples. He later intervenes when Long Yan claims Song Zhaoyi as his fiancée, rejecting the claim alongside her 142 145 169.

After further travels and lightning tempering, he spends three years training in Gale Gorge. On returning, he still loses to Xiao Chen, despite having hoped to fight him to a draw 178 179 261.

Nether River and Holy Son Appointment

Separated from his companions inside the Desolate Ancient City’s royal court, Cao Youqian discovers a Nether River and turns it into a cultivation site. He rejects Whitebeard’s offered gauntlets in favor of improving his own fists, though he later exploits the trial’s rules by using a magic treasure 289 298 301.

His subsequent achievements lead to nomination as a Holy Son candidate and the selection of Cao Qiuwan as his Dao protector. At his Holy Son ceremony, Lin Ping’an returns with the Seven Killings Sword Art. Cao Youqian withstands the attacks, demonstrates his superiority, and stops his finishing punch rather than kill a promising academy disciple 313 314 358 359.

Barbarian Continent and Rival Holy Lands

During his later travels, Cao Youqian defeats Great Sage Baiyan in Fire Phoenix Valley and accepts his surrender. He then knowingly enters the Fire God Sect’s ambush in Witch Devil Valley, reaches its headquarters, and plunders its treasury with Great Sage Eight Treasures 435 448 449 455.

At the Ten Saints Grand Competition, he challenges successive holy-land prodigies. Wuming concedes after acknowledging the exceptional strength of his body, and the remaining challengers fail to last a single exchange 596 597 598.

Hongyuan Continent and Tyrant Fist Holy Land

After traveling through the Holy Institute to Hongyuan Continent, Cao Youqian subdues Thunder Qilin and identifies himself as that world’s Ancestor of Body Cultivation. He takes disciples, guides Xia Kang’s Fist Dao, and leads the Tyrant Fist Holy Land 600 601 606 607 621 639.

He brings Wind Thunder Valley under his authority and later leaves Lei Ruoxi managing his territory while he takes Cao Ying, Xia Kang, and Thunder Qilin to the Dao-Seeking Sect 644 652.

In the latest documented battle, he and Xiao Chen lure out four Demon Race Divine Kings. Cao Youqian kills Mad Lion Divine King, while the pair prevent the surviving Nine-Headed Bird and Twin Tiger Divine Kings from escaping 676.
