Ch. 1Dead Right After Transmigrating

Shen Ge transmigrated into the body of a starving youth in the Flowing Cloud Kingdom, only to be killed almost immediately when a Devil Cultivator used the Ten Thousand Souls Banner to slaughter the village. He eventually regained awareness as a ghostly soul inside the banner, where he stood like a lackey.

  • Shen Ge woke in a dilapidated temple, learned he had transmigrated into a world of immortal cultivation, and found that he had no system or other golden finger.
  • A farm woman left leftover rice outside the temple, and Shen Ge ate it before leaving to find his next meal.
  • A black cloud arrived over the village, and a Devil Cultivator sent the Ten Thousand Souls Banner to massacre everyone and drain their corpses of blood.
  • The Devil Cultivator left after declaring his Law Treasure complete, while Shen Ge's soul drifted among countless others inside the banner.
  • After an unknown time, Shen Ge regained his mind and stood inside the Ten Thousand Souls Banner.

Ch. 2The Two Sects at War

Shen Ge retained his wits inside the Ten Thousand Souls Banner and began growing stronger by devouring other ghostly souls. Meanwhile, Mo Shang reported the Spirit Moon Sect’s battle preparations to Devil Creek Sect Master Li Yu, whose subordinates urged him to escalate the war.

  • Shen Ge resisted the Banner’s influence, ate a mass of Qi, and decided to pursue ghost cultivation.
  • Shen Ge attacked and devoured a nearby ghostly soul, making his body more solid.
  • Mo Shang returned to Devil Creek Sect and told Zi Qi that fighting the Spirit Moon Sect could cost them their lives.
  • Mo Shang reported that the Spirit Moon Sect had sent a hundred Foundation Establishment cultivators and a Golden Core elder to Fallen Phoenix Slope.
  • Li Yu’s followers called for an all-out war to destroy the Spirit Moon Sect and seize its resources.

Ch. 3Each Making Their Own Plans

Mo Shang prepared for the looming war between the Devil Creek Sect and the Spirit Moon Sect while Shen Ge grew stronger inside the Ten Thousand Souls Banner. The Spirit Moon Sect resolved to fight, and Mo Qingyu sent her disciple Liuyue to the Verdant Sea for experience.

  • Mo Shang worried about the coming battle, then gave Shen Ge a hundred dark souls to devour while he cultivated.
  • Shen Ge reached the Qi Refining Fifth Layer, worried about his lack of freedom, and fell asleep to digest the souls.
  • At Moonfall Mountain, Spirit Moon Sect elders urged Sect Master Ziyang to attack the Devil Creek Sect for slaughtering villages and towns.
  • Mo Qingyu said she would face Old Ghost Qingming, and Ziyang approved a full-scale war and convened a three-day strategy meeting.
  • Mo Qingyu sent her disciple Liuyue to the Verdant Sea to gain experience and consolidate her cultivation.

Ch. 4The Verdant Sea

Mo Shang and Li Xiao were tasked with keeping Shangguan Ouyang occupied while Shen Ge grew stronger amid the Verdant Sea battlefield. Su Liuyue arrived with a war token for Shangguan Ouyang, who warned her not to advance too far and risk an ambush.

  • Mo Shang brought reinforcements to the Verdant Sea and met Li Xiao, who agreed to seek help to deal with Shangguan Ouyang.
  • Mo Shang ordered his disciples to avoid battle and used the Ten Thousand Souls Banner to gather lingering yin souls.
  • Shen Ge's presence rose to the Foundation Establishment Realm, and he developed Soul Scream, claw attacks, and yin fire.
  • Su Liuyue arrived at the Spirit Moon Sect camp and went to see Shangguan Ouyang with a letter from the sect master.
  • Shangguan Ouyang read the letter, recognized it as a war token, and warned Su Liuyue not to go too deep or risk an ambush.

Ch. 5Granted a Cultivation Method

Su Liuyue headed for the battlefield, and Qin Yu followed to watch over her. Mo Shang gave Shen Ge the Yin Cold Instruction, named him Mo Yi, and made him a branch soul, while he weighed whether to flee the Devil Creek Sect as war loomed.

  • Su Liuyue flew toward the battlefield, and Qin Yu followed her out of concern for her safety.
  • Mo Shang summoned Shen Ge from the Ten Thousand Souls Banner and gave him the Yin Cold Instruction.
  • Mo Shang promised Shen Ge half the banner’s Yin souls to devour until he reached the Foundation Establishment Late Stage.
  • After Shen Ge spoke and asked Mo Shang to name him, Mo Shang called him Mo Yi and assigned him as a branch soul in charge of one thousand Yin souls.
  • Mo Shang assessed the Devil Creek Sect’s disadvantage against the Spirit Moon Sect and decided to wait until his side started losing before considering escape.
  • Shen Ge worried about the dangers of fighting as a branch soul, despite being promoted at eighteen.

Ch. 6The Hunt and the Counter-Hunt

Su Liuyue continued hunting Devil Creek Sect cultivators, while their disciples planned an ambush against her. Elsewhere, Li Hai and other Spirit Moon Sect Golden Core cultivators waited for the demonic woman to return, leaving the impending clashes unresolved.

  • Su Liuyue killed another Devil Creek Sect cultivator with a Fire Explosion Talisman, bringing her Foundation Establishment tally to eighteen, and told Qin Yu to stop following her.
  • Devil Creek Sect disciples identified Su Liuyue as Mo Qingyu’s personal disciple and decided to seek Chu Xiong’s help in ambushing her.
  • Shen Ge overheard the disciples’ plans from inside the Ten Thousand Souls Banner, then resumed cultivating by consuming wandering spirits.
  • Mo Shang worried that either permitting or preventing the planned attack would bring trouble upon him and wished for Li Xiao to return.
  • Li Hai led ten Golden Core cultivators to a mountain near the Devil Creek Sect camp and chose to wait for the demonic woman rather than target its protector.

Ch. 7Ambush Foiled

Su Liuyue foiled Chu Xiong’s ambush and drove him back to the Devil Cultivators’ camp, where Shen Ge listened to the news while trapped in the Ten Thousand Souls Banner. Frustrated with his predicament, Shen Ge tried to cultivate using remembered incantations and began reciting the Clear Heart Instruction.

  • Su Liuyue pursued Chu Xiong, but he escaped with Blood Escape after his golden light talismans kept her sword at bay.
  • Su Liuyue abandoned the chase rather than pursue Chu Xiong into Devil Cultivator territory and returned to the bamboo forest.
  • Chu Xiong returned injured to camp and angrily confirmed his failure, while the other disciples speculated that he might lose his title as a devil son.
  • Shen Ge listened to the camp’s conversation from inside the Ten Thousand Souls Banner and considered making Su Liuyue a friend because of her strength.
  • Shen Ge devoured ghosts to vent his anger, then tried reciting the Golden Light Incantation but stopped when it hurt his soul.
  • Shen Ge turned to the Clear Heart Instruction, which he believed was better suited to his existence as a ghost.

Ch. 8The Spirit Moon Sect's Encirclement and Slaughter

Li Xiao returned to the Devil Creek Sect camp with three Rogue Cultivators, intending to attack the Spirit Moon Sect, but found the Verdant Sea trapped inside a grand formation. As the Spirit Moon Sect’s Golden Core cultivators attacked, the four formed a desperate defense and fled toward the formation’s edge.

  • Li Xiao met Mo Shang and brought Old Man Wuya, Master Kuangshan, and Ghost Demoness to prepare a surprise attack on Shangguan Ouyang.
  • A flying ship appeared as the Spirit Moon Sect sealed the Verdant Sea inside a grand formation, trapping Li Xiao and the Devil Creek Sect cultivators.
  • Li Hai ordered ten Golden Core cultivators to attack, and Old Man Wuya, Master Kuangshan, Mo Shang, and Ghost Demoness formed the Four Symbols Formation to withstand them.
  • Shangguan Ouyang and the Spirit Moon Sect cultivators unleashed spells, while Master Kuangshan used a shield and Ghost Demoness released Yellow Needle Wasps to help hold off the assault.
  • Old Man Wuya led the four in a flight toward the formation’s edge, but Spirit Moon Sect cultivators pursued them with Law Treasures, wounding all four.

Ch. 9The Five Elements Grand Formation

Mo Shang and the other Golden Core cultivators were trapped by the Spirit Moon Sect’s Five Elements Grand Formation while the two sects’ disciples fought below. Old Man Wuya ordered Mo Shang to sacrifice his Ten Thousand Souls Banner, releasing a swarm of wraiths as Shen Ge escaped underground.

  • Old Man Wuya said he could break the Four Spirits Heaven-Trapping Formation, while Chu Xiong rallied the Devil Creek Sect disciples to attack the Spirit Moon Sect camp.
  • Chu Xiong tried to surround and kill Su Liuyue, but she flew toward her allies; he then slaughtered Qi Refining Stage fighters until a Foundation Establishment disciple stopped him.
  • Li Xiao unleashed poisonous mist, prompting Li Hai to send Elder Lu to protect the disciples and activate the Five Elements Eight Trigrams Formation with four other Golden Core cultivators.
  • The Five Elements Grand Formation replaced its sea of fire with Bone-Eroding Rain, weakening Mo Shang, Old Man Wuya, Master Kuangshan, and Ghost Demoness and threatening to break their formation.
  • Old Man Wuya told Mo Shang to destroy his Ten Thousand Souls Banner, and its explosion released tens of thousands of wraiths that drove back the Spirit Moon Sect cultivators.
  • Shen Ge swept up several wraiths and fled underground when he saw a Spirit Moon Sect Golden Core cultivator.

Ch. 10Ten Thousand Li Teleportation Talisman

Shen Ge hid as the Golden Core cultivators battled while Old Man Wuya tried to break the formation. Mo Shang escaped with a Ten Thousand Li Teleportation Talisman, and Ghost Demoness died after warning Shen Ge to stay hidden.

  • Shen Ge reached the surface and hid in a crevice while Li Xiao remained bound by the three Golden Core cultivators.
  • Mo Shang offered his incomplete Law Treasure to shield the group, but withdrew when the Sumeru Wind tore through it, leaving Master Kuangshan to block the attack and die.
  • Old Man Wuya took Master Kuangshan's Storage Bag and prepared to activate a formation plate as vines attacked the group.
  • Mo Shang used Blood Explosion to disguise his escape and fled with a Ten Thousand Li Teleportation Talisman as Old Man Wuya activated the formation.
  • Ghost Demoness warned Shen Ge to hide and gave him spiritual light before a vine attack killed her and destroyed her body.

Ch. 11Freedom

After surviving the Spirit Moon Sect’s purge of the Verdant Sea, Shen Ge discovered that the Golden Core cultivator’s attack had weakened him into a spirit vulnerable to sunlight. He fled south and settled in a remote seaside cave, determined to stay out of the conflict between the Spirit Moon Sect and Devil Creek Sect.

  • Shangguan Ouyang and the other Golden Core cultivators left the Verdant Sea after retrieving the formation foundations, and the Spirit Moon Sect disciples exterminated the Devil Cultivators.
  • Qin Yu ordered the disciples to hunt the remaining ghosts, and they spent three days clearing the Verdant Sea while Shen Ge stayed hidden.
  • Shen Ge survived by suppressing his bloodthirsty instincts, then waited half a month before discovering that sunlight burned his weakened spirit.
  • After nightfall, Shen Ge traveled cautiously south for over a month and found a secluded cave near the sea.
  • Shen Ge settled in the cave and resolved to keep out of the fighting until the Spirit Moon Sect and Devil Creek Sect had finished battling.

Ch. 12New Life

Shen Ge used Lu Xi’s memories to learn the Return to Life Instruction and spent fifteen years forming a new body. After surviving the final lightning strike, he became human again and prepared to resume cultivation.

  • Shen Ge absorbed the memories of Lu Xi, the Ghost Demoness, and learned that the Return to Life Instruction could create a physical body.
  • Shen Ge recovered and cultivated in seclusion while the Spirit Moon Sect defeated the Devil Creek Sect.
  • After fifteen years, lightning struck Shen Ge as his spiritual body was completed, leaving him unconscious for five days.
  • Shen Ge awoke with a human body, found his cultivation reduced, and decided to use the Yin Cold Instruction while seeking materials for a Law Artifact.
  • Shen Ge basked in the sunlight, completed his spiritual body as the five elements gathered, and sent Little White to hunt for food.

Ch. 13First Time Refining Artifacts

Shen Ge searched the mountains for iron essence and tried to refine it into weapons, but his furnace and flames could not melt it, so he forged a crude sword from ordinary iron instead. Five years later, at the Ninth Layer of Qi Refinement, he worried about the risks of attempting Foundation Establishment and set out with Little White to search for a Foundation Establishment Pill.

  • Shen Ge found two chunks of iron essence after searching the mountains and brought them back to his cave.
  • Shen Ge built and dried a clay furnace, but his flames could only begin to melt the iron essence before his spiritual power ran out.
  • Shen Ge melted ordinary iron ore and spent three days forging it into a rough sword.
  • Shen Ge cultivated for five years and reached the Ninth Layer of Qi Refinement, then considered whether to seek a Foundation Establishment Pill.
  • Shen Ge decided to search nearby mountains for a pill and other valuables, and left with Little White.

Ch. 14The Beginning of It All

Shen Ge left the deep mountains and reached Sea Village, where his strange appearance drew suspicion and hostility. Han Yu agreed to find him clothes, while Shen Ge used Spiritual Qi to keep the villagers from confronting him.

  • Shen Ge left Little White in the mountains to guard a Scarlet Blood Fruit Tree and followed a path toward human settlements.
  • Shen Ge asked a woodcutter for directions to Sea Village and gave him hemostatic powder before continuing north.
  • Shen Ge reached Sea Village and asked a woman by the creek where he could get clothes, but she insulted him.
  • Han Yu offered to take Shen Ge to get clothes, and Shen Ge silenced Auntie Wang with a stern stare before following Han Yu at a distance.
  • Villagers gathered and tried to confront Shen Ge, but his Spiritual Qi pressure made them retreat.

Ch. 15Changing Clothes

Shen Ge followed Han Yu home to borrow clothes, while villagers grew alarmed at the nearly naked stranger and warned Han Wu. After Shen Ge changed, Han Lin scolded him for bringing gossip to his sister, then told him to hurry before their father returned.

  • Han Yu gave Shen Ge a worn set of linen clothes and let him change inside her home.
  • Li Shan told Han Wu and Mother Han that Han Yu had brought a nearly naked man home from the southern mountain forest.
  • Shen Ge entered Han Lin's room and poured him a bowl of medicine before Han Lin realized he was a stranger.
  • Han Yu came in to explain, but Han Lin shouted at her to leave and then rebuked Shen Ge for endangering her reputation.
  • Shen Ge apologized, and Han Lin accepted his apology and told him to change before their father came home.

Ch. 16Driving Away the Crowd

Shen Ge silenced the villagers who had gathered to accuse Han Yu and returned with Han Wu and Han Yu to examine Han Lin. After learning Han Lin’s chest pain began after he found a giant tiger carcass in the mountains, Shen Ge sensed that the tiger bone still held a trace of essence.

  • Han Wu tried to strike Han Yu, but Li Shan and the other young men restrained him and defended her from the villagers’ accusations.
  • Han Wu kicked Han Yu’s basket, spilling precious medicinal herbs, and the villagers grew greedy when they learned their value.
  • Shen Ge came outside, silenced the crowd, and sent the villagers away; Han Yu returned his herbs, and Han Wu apologized for the damage.
  • Shen Ge returned to Han Lin’s room and asked about his illness; Han Wu said Han Lin suffered worsening chest pain each night after returning from the mountains.
  • Han Lin recalled finding a carcass that seemed to be a huge tiger and bringing home one of its bones; Shen Ge sensed a trace of essence remaining in it.

Ch. 17Searching for Clear Brightness Grass

Shen Ge set out to find Clear Brightness Grass in a fogbound forest so he could cure Han Lin’s miasma poisoning. As night fell, he encountered the distant pursuit of Su Liuyue by a remnant of the Devil Creek Sect.

  • Shen Ge learned that Clear Brightness Grass grew in a dangerous, mist-covered forest and promised to return within five days with a cure for Han Lin.
  • Han Yu prepared food and water for Shen Ge, who accepted them and set off toward the forest.
  • Han Wu asked Han Yu whether she would go with Shen Ge, but she dismissed the idea as beyond her station.
  • Shen Ge traveled more than ten li before stopping to rest when night fell.
  • Su Liuyue fled a Middle Golden Core Stage pursuer from the Devil Creek Sect and considered using her Hidden Mist Array, Burst Talisman, and shield to escape or fight back.

Ch. 18Fierce Battle

Su Liuyue lured her Devil Cultivator pursuer into a trap and fought him in a deadly battle. She killed him but was left seriously injured, with her meridians sealed and her Spiritual Qi cut off.

  • Su Liuyue prepared a hidden Mist Concealment Formation and a conspicuous sword formation in a misty valley, then resumed her escape to lure the pursuer there.
  • Su Liuyue trapped the Devil Cultivator in the sword formation and battered him with her shield and Burst Talismans, but he survived and counterattacked with the Crimson Blood Sword.
  • The Devil Cultivator detonated the Crimson Blood Sword, seriously injuring Su Liuyue, then attacked her with the Devil Creek Sect's Soul-Tearing Hand.
  • Su Liuyue met his blood hands with Ten Thousand Swords Instruction, and the flying swords tore apart the Devil Cultivator and his soul.
  • A few blood hands pierced Su Liuyue's abdomen and sealed her meridians, but she collected her Law Treasure and the Devil Cultivator's Storage Bag before leaving the battlefield.

Ch. 19Fortuitous Opportunity?

Shen Ge searched a misty forest for Clear Brightness Grass and found a wounded woman in a cave after sensing a faint red light. He recognized her clothes as belonging to the Spirit Moon Sect but could not remember where he had seen her, and began looting her corpse.

  • Shen Ge entered the misty forest after confirming the fog was barely poisonous, then avoided a trail marked by signs of a Golden Core battle.
  • Shen Ge found and gathered a large patch of Clear Brightness Grass, worth at least two hundred Spirit Stones if refined into Detoxification Pills.
  • Shen Ge spotted a faint red light near a cliff, found a cave, and fled after glimpsing a bloodied figure inside.
  • Shen Ge returned to the cave, decided the woman was dead, and approached her body to loot it.
  • Shen Ge thought the woman looked familiar and guessed from her clothes that she belonged to the Spirit Moon Sect.

Ch. 20Looting Corpses, Being Countered

Shen Ge accidentally revived Su Liuyue when he tried to take her Storage Bag, and she absorbed much of his Qi while breaking her seal. After recovering, Su Liuyue repaid him with a valuable Storage Bag and a Spirit Moon Sect token, then revealed that Shen Ge had a top-grade Metal Spirit Root.

  • Shen Ge tried to take the unconscious Su Liuyue's Storage Bag, but she opened her eyes and absorbed half his Qi.
  • Su Liuyue broke the seal in her body while Shen Ge repeatedly woke and obeyed her order to guard the cave entrance.
  • After two days, Su Liuyue told Shen Ge she would not punish him because he had saved her, and offered to grant him a favor.
  • Shen Ge asked for a Storage Bag, and Su Liuyue gave him one taken from a Golden Core Devil Cultivator, along with its remaining pills and Spirit Stones.
  • Su Liuyue gave Shen Ge a Divine Sword Peak disciple token and checked his Spirit Root, identifying it as top-grade Metal.
