Background / History

Rebirth and Medical Practice

Qin Lu is reborn with memories of a previous life. Twenty-one years later, he operates the Qin Clan Medical Hall in Bayi Town. He has no system, supernatural patron, or inherited divine artifact; his initial opportunity is an Azure Wood Scripture found in a mountain cave while gathering firewood 1.

Although he initially struggles to cultivate the scripture, its medical knowledge allows him to become a traveling physician and eventually open his own hall. His parents have died, his uncles have seized the family property, and he has no siblings or continuing ties to those relatives 1 4.

Establishing the Qin Household

His medical reputation and pill-refining ability give him leverage against Bayi Town’s established households. He arranges marriage alliances with the Zhao and Chu families, using their dowries to fund alchemy while building a coalition against stronger rivals 3 4 5.

During the destruction of the Han Household, he kills Liu Yujing and Han Qing, saves Chu Shan to preserve an ally, and acquires cultivation methods and the sword he names Tai’e. He subsequently consolidates Bayi, demands the other households’ inheritances, and exploits the Qi Household’s hidden connection to the Cangnong Qi Clan 10 18 19.

After draining Qi Bailing to improve his aptitude, Qin Lu expands beyond local warfare into organized commerce. He takes over the Li household’s industries, establishes the Black Dragon Chamber of Commerce, sets schedules for auctions and pill sales, and completes a Pill Pavilion on Muxuan Mountain 19 28.

Founding an Immortal Clan

Following his Qi Condensation breakthrough, Qin Lu obtains official recognition for the Beichuan Qin Family, choosing the name to commemorate its origins among northern mountains and rivers. The court appoints him principal Sima, and the Qin replace the Xuan River Zhang Clan as Yingchuan County’s dominant power 40 41 42.

He develops the clan through military expansion, marriage alliances, regulated commerce, and strict laws. His relationship with Zhang Xuan combines battlefield cooperation and marriage ties, while the birth of the third generation prompts him to formalize generation names and insist that mortal relatives must not undermine clan governance 42 48 56.

Warfare and the Northern Frontier

At the Flower Willow Courtyard, Qin Lu seizes extensive cultivation and immortal-art inheritances before escaping underground in disguise. After half a year in hiding, he learns that Daliang has fallen, the Qin have repelled an attack, several allies have died, and outside powers are investigating the unidentified thief 117.

He later develops his own cultivation path rather than simply reproducing the Cangnong Qi Clan’s heritage. His Dao Foundation attainment and transformation of his physique establish the foundation for his increasingly specialized Soul Dao methods 136 148 161.

His northern campaigns include killing the Frost Demons’ Second Elder, attacking Nangong Qinghong, secretly planting a soul seed in Zhadelei, and helping kill a Third-Tier snow wolf half-demon. Possessing Zhadelei also gives him access to inheritances and a Core Formation method 196 239 247.

Core Formation and Nascent Soul

Qin Lu survives his Golden Core tribulation by combining his treasures, Dao Principles, ghost forces, and an Infant Embryo Fruit. After leaving the secret realm, he declares his ambition for Great Qin to unite the world 296.

His preparations for a gifted heir lead him to obtain the Fetus-Nurturing Technique and select Haiyue as the mother. He overpowers and sexually assaults her despite her objections, later promising her the status of Qin Clan matriarch. He also prepares Qin Zheng’s future support by transferring Flower Princess’s contract to him and securing Gai Nie’s oath of loyalty 306 348.

For his Nascent Soul advancement, Qin Lu draws soul Qi and blood Qi from the Northern Continent. During the Heart Demon Tribulation, he revisits Qi Bailing’s death, the killing of his three mortal wives, and his mass sacrifices without repudiating his choices 393 394.

Nine Heavens and the Struggle for the World

Qin Lu combines the Four Origins Creation Method and Five Elements Creation Method into his plan for Nine Heavens. Haiyue settles her true body in the Water Cloud Realm, helping its evolution through the Great Dao of Tides, while Qin Lu prepares to absorb the Immortal-Seeking Secret Realm into the Fourth Heaven 465.

He maintains Great Qin’s neutrality when both the Longlife–Three Truths alliance and the Four Kingdoms Alliance seek his support. Later, he deliberately uses conflict in the Eastern Wasteland to weaken competing powers and advance the Qin Clan’s interests 487 515.

He destroys Meng Yu’s remaining will and spirituality, strengthens his Primordial Spirit, and declines to seize control of the realm. With opposing camps now seeking his support, he destroys the Myriad Spirits Holy Land and its senior cultivators 564.

Immortal Campaigns and the Finale

As a True Immortal, Qin Lu hunts across the star seas for resources, including attacking a Starfall settlement whose inhabitants can strengthen his weapons and the Qin Clan’s artifact refining. He later tracks down and refines Silver Moon Immortal’s hidden True Spirit, preventing his return and improving the Emperor Soul Crown 622 643.

Against the Mountain Mist Ancestor, Qin Lu survives the destruction of his body and Primordial Spirit through death substitution, seals the battlefield, and kills his opponent seventeen times before devouring his Primordial Spirit. His subsequent annihilation of the Void Soul Spirit Race enables him to forge a True Soul, although looking into the higher heavens inflicts a severe Dao injury 660 712.

After reaching Daluo, Qin Lu continues expanding the Qin Humans’ position. In the finale, he joins Phoenix Ancestor and Grand Yin in killing the Great Yang Dao Ancestor, helps Qin Daoran ascend to Taiyi, and establishes enduring alliances. Qin Zhenyu and Qin Yuhua later become Dao Ancestors, leaving the Qin Humans with three Ancestors and the standing of a top-tier race 739 750.

Appearance

  • Youthful and handsome: His appearance helps make his courteous manner reassuring to Meng Ao 59.
  • Black robes: He is depicted drinking alone on a mountain peak with his black robe snapping in the wind 46.
  • Sword-immortal bearing: Holding Tai’e, he presents an aloof, refined appearance despite his limited early sword-path attainments 62.
  • Transformed physiology: His original human heart eventually shatters; complete integration with the Heart of a Wood Demon produces a new bloodline and exceptional regeneration 480.

Personality

Qin Lu initially values self-sufficiency, practical skills, and longevity. Having already died once, he is acutely conscious of mortality. His early strategy favors patience, favorable odds, and alliances that convert economic resources into personal strength 1 4 7 12.

His devotion to the Qin Clan is genuine but hierarchical. He lovingly raises his sons, prepares escape plans for them, remembers descendants lost in war, and invests in their futures. Nevertheless, he places the lineage above any individual and restricts his attention and resources to selected descendants 15 48 69 348 511.

He combines strict internal governance with unrestricted aggression toward outsiders. He demands that descendants respect clan law, yet permits extreme wrongdoing when it benefits the clan and can be covered up. His justification is that Qin strength protects its people from becoming slaves or disposable resources themselves 56 84 85 126.

His ambition progressively exceeds ordinary family preservation. He accepts mass sacrifice, soul consumption, and the abandonment of unwanted humanity as means to advancement. The Heart Demon Tribulation confirms that affection and memories do not produce regret strong enough to alter his path 394 465.

Qin Lu also displays calculated cruelty: he prolongs opponents’ fear and hope because emotionally agitated souls are more nourishing to consume. Political relationships are similarly conditional; once an alliance ceases to serve the Qin Humans, he is willing to sacrifice it 475 702.

Abilities & Skills

Soul Dao

Qin Lu’s soul from beyond the heavens gives him a naturally powerful soul and an affinity with the Great Dao of Soul 480.

  • Soul attacks: Uses Soul Severing and Nether Soul power to strike an opponent’s sea of Divine Sense directly 196 239.
  • Soul manipulation: Practices Soul Refining and Spirit Searching, Spirit Annihilation and Soul Devouring, Divine Sense Splitting, and Soul Clone 247.
  • Survival techniques: Uses Thousand Souls Die in One’s Stead and Soul Dispersal and Rebirth; maintains additional bodies as contingencies 247 363.
  • Soul tracking: Identifies and locates individuals through their souls despite changes to appearance or presence; uses Soul Pursuit to locate Silver Moon Immortal’s True Spirit 620 643.
  • Limit: His Dao Foundation-era escape methods cannot prevent a Golden Core cultivator from directly obliterating his Dao Law 247.

King Wood Physique and Parasitic Soul

His King Wood Spirit Physique arises from fusing Jing Ke’s Dao seed, his wood heart, and his toxic miasma spirit body 161.

  • Efficiently absorbs spiritual Qi and strengthens his cultivation foundation 161.
  • Parasitic Soul: Drains the souls of hosts 161.
  • Soul seeds: Plants a seed in Zhadelei’s consciousness, alters his memories, and later uses his body to obtain information 239 247.
  • Soul Wood techniques: Includes Soul Seed Foundation Seizure, Commanding Plants, Soul Wood Shape Transformation, Divine Sense Transfer, and Parasitism and Spirit Devouring 247.
  • Regeneration: His later wood-heart integration grants a demon-like physique and extraordinary recovery 480.

Poison Arts and Corpse Puppets

Poison is his principal early combat specialty and later becomes one of his three personal Dao Laws 81 394.

  • Hundred poisons: Can kill higher-layer Qi Condensation cultivators if the timing is favorable 81.
  • Poison sword arts: Assigns a different poison to each of a hundred swords; the combined toxins can dissolve a victim into foul liquid 81 110.
  • Poison Cloud Technique: Develops an expanding poisonous miasma for battlefield control 74 81.
  • Five Poison Corpse Puppets: Divides his Divine Sense among five poisoned corpses, each capable of Qi Condensation First Layer strength 81.
  • Dao Spirit Poison Art: Appears among his innate Divine Abilities in immortal-level combat 649.
  • Limit: Ordinary poisons cease to meet his needs as his realm rises 247.

Swordsmanship

Qin Lu cultivates the sword as a supporting path rather than as a pure sword cultivator 110 368.

  • Nether Soul Sword Intent: Produces a transparent soul sword and a sword-derived Divine Ability, his strongest offensive method at that point 247.
  • Combines sword strikes with poison, abundant spiritual power, and Soul Dao attacks 62 81 640.
  • Channels Nether Soul Sword Intent into God Devouring to threaten powerful immortal opponents 640.
  • Limit: Sword Intent alone becomes insufficient as a decisive trump card against higher-realm enemies 368.

Emperor Nether’s Ten Thousand Territories

An innate domain ability that isolates opponents and makes prolonged combat increasingly favorable to Qin Lu 477.

  • Severs access to the Great Dao and suppresses souls.
  • Drains spiritual power while strengthening Qin Lu.
  • Grows without limit and devours souls 477.
  • Can deny Spirit Transformation cultivators access to their Dao origin, making otherwise ordinary attacks capable of harming them 580.
  • Later cuts a sealed battlefield off from the Primordial Dao Sea 660.
  • Limit: Soul Dao is identified as the exception to its general ability to counter other Great Daos 649.

Ghost Emperors and True Devil Forms

Qin Lu can draw directly on the abilities cultivated by his ghost subordinates 393 603.

  • His three personal Daos are Nether Soul, Soul Wood, and Soul Poison; six additional Daos are cultivated by Ghost Emperors and borrowed by him 394 603.
  • Inherits abilities such as Nether Thunder control and lightning resistance from his ghosts 393.
  • Combines seven Ghost Emperors into a True Devil Immortal with three heads and six arms, their weapons, and their methods of attack 640 649.
  • Uses the Seven Ghost True Devil Body against the Mountain Mist Ancestor 660.
  • Can split into three selves to escape restraint and overwhelm an enemy through coordinated attacks 366.

Destructive Divine Abilities

  • Dao-Transforming Immortal-Extinguishing Hand: Acquired to remedy his shortage of decisive, overwhelming killing techniques 368.
  • Extreme Dao · Soul-Extinguishing Hand: Used during the Cold Realm’s merger to devastate its inhabitants and territory 584.
  • Extreme Dao · Dao-Ash Flame: Repels an extreme-cold attack from Spirit Transformation Cold Beasts 584.
  • World Destruction: A named sword strike used to begin breaking apart the Immortal-Seeking Secret Realm for absorption 465.

Alchemy and Other Crafts

  • Medicine: Builds his original livelihood from the Azure Wood Scripture’s medical theories and becomes Bayi Town’s most accomplished physician 1 3.
  • Alchemy: Masters twenty-four pill formulas by his late martial cultivation period, modifying inherited recipes to conceal their origins and support trade 31.
  • Second-tier pills: Begins barely succeeding at True Essence Pills before preparing to refine Qi Condensation Pills 81.
  • Fifth-tier ceiling: Later remains unable to refine sixth-tier pills or treasures despite repeated attempts 599.
  • Realm creation: Develops Nine Heavens by integrating two creation methods and absorbing existing secret realms 465.
  • Soul World Method: Finds it highly compatible with Emperor Nether’s Ten Thousand Territories 747.
  • Soul Enfeoffment Method: Can nurture and enfeoff independent Ghost Immortals, but its full implementation requires Dao Ancestor power 747.

  • He could instinctively draw in purple qi but could not adequately explain the process to Qin Hui 14.
  • His Innate Spirit Physique is acquired rather than inherited at birth; he later recalls consuming an entire person’s flesh and blood to seize a physique 607.
  • By the True Immortal realm, even meeting his own children is dangerous: his uncontrolled Soul Dao nature can drain their divine souls 615.
  • The Qin Humans repeatedly regard him as irreplaceable—the individual whose continued existence holds the entire lineage together 608 735.
