An Unexpected Turn
"Ah!"
Liu Erlong let out a scream that rang throughout the academy. Meng Shu and the others from Shrek, who were in the office, didn't dare delay. Thinking she had encountered some danger, they rushed to the Odd-job Department.
Inside the room, Yu Xiaogang, who had been instructing Tang San, looked panicked as he hurriedly straightened his clothes.
"Who is it?! Who's out there peeping?!"
Hearing Yu Xiaogang's shrill voice, Liu Erlong felt the world spin around her. The man she loved, whom she had waited for all these years, had not only betrayed her, but had done so in a way too unspeakable to describe.
"Erlong, what happened?!" Flender and Meng Shu arrived just then. Flender was undoubtedly the most anxious of them all. As the king of cuckolds, he probably valued Liu Erlong's life even more than his own.
Yu Xiaogang recognized Flender's voice and hurried out of the room.
Liu Erlong buried her face against Xu De without answering Flender. Her emotions had risen high only to plunge down, down, down, down, down. Flender grew anxious when she still didn't respond. "Xiaogang, why are you here? What exactly happened just now?"
"Boss Fu, Erlong, you're here... I was resting just now. I-I don't know what happened either!"
Yu Xiaogang forced down the panic in his heart and put on the appearance of someone who had just woken up, clearly hoping to bluff his way through.
But his words enraged Liu Erlong. It was bad enough that he had done such a thing, but even after she caught him, he pretended nothing had happened. Was Yu Xiaogang even a man?!
No, wait! Liu Erlong recalled what she had just seen. Yu Xiaogang really didn't seem to be one anymore. At that thought, her vision went black, as if she had suffered a crushing blow.
"Teacher Erlong, what's wrong?!" Xu De looked utterly at a loss as he clumsily scooped Liu Erlong up. Yu Xiaogang was about to stop him, but the cold look in Xu De's eyes frightened him into backing down. That was right, he was nothing but a cripple now, and he had been the one to summon Erlong.
When Xu De had asked her to write that letter, she had already had her suspicions. But now that she was like this, what else did she have left to lose? Forget it, she would leave it all up to him.
"Yu Xiaogang! Explain yourself! What's going on here?!" Meng Shu and the others had also noticed Tang San practicing in the room. Meng Shu had already disliked Yu Xiaogang, and now that something like this had happened, he naturally wouldn't let him off easily.
As time passed, more and more students gathered to watch, and Tang San, whom Meng Shu had brought out of the room, gradually came to. For some reason, his appearance and bearing were completely different from before. Even Xu Que, who possessed the Sun Moon Divine Eyes, had failed to notice anything unusual on both occasions.
"What are you people doing?! Let my teacher go!"
Tang San still hadn't realized what he had just experienced. Seeing them holding Yu Xiaogang like a prisoner, he was instantly consumed by anger. A teacher for a day was a father for life. His own father had already died at the hands of the Sun Moon Empire, so naturally he couldn't stand by and watch his teacher suffer such humiliation.
Meng Shu and Flender were both taken aback. They had thought Yu Xiaogang had used some despicable means to force Tang San, but now it seemed that wasn't the case?
"Child, don't be afraid. I'm Meng Shu, the academy's director of instruction. What bad things did Yu Xiaogang do? Don't be afraid, we'll see that justice is done for you!"
The more Tang San listened, the more bewildered he became. What was this old man babbling about? He had merely been discussing Soul Skills with his teacher in the room and had accidentally fallen asleep halfway through. What bad things could his teacher have done to him?
A glimmer of hope also lit up in Yu Xiaogang's eyes. "Director Meng, I was only instructing my student. That doesn't violate any rules, does it?"
Wait, what? The surrounding students, teachers, Flender, and the others all looked shocked. Didn't he know what Tang San had looked like when he was carried out? How could he brazenly lie through his teeth? But then again, if he had any shame, a level twenty-nine Soul Grandmaster wouldn't have dared call himself Grandmaster.
"That's right, Teacher was only instructing me. You must have misunderstood something! Everything we did was consensual!"
Hearing Yu Xiaogang's sophistry, Tang San also spoke up in agreement. In his eyes, Gangzi was still the Grandmaster who could teach him to become a god.
Ning Rongrong and Xiao Wu were also among the onlookers. After hearing Tang San's words, they looked back and forth between the two men three or four times. This, this, this was far too open-minded! Mingdu truly was a city at the forefront of the world. It was incredibly accepting.
Meng Shu was out of ideas too. Though this sort of thing was immoral, it wasn't as if it had never happened before. If their feelings were mutual, he couldn't very well force them apart.
"It seems today's incident was a misunderstanding. Yu Xiaogang, come with Teacher Flender and me to the instruction office. Everyone else, disperse!"
The onlookers all sighed in disappointment when they heard that. A juicy scandal like this didn't come along often. Still, it wasn't hard to imagine that Yu Xiaogang and Tang San would become the subject of their after-dinner gossip in the days to come.
In the instruction office, Liu Erlong stared blankly at the ceiling, unable to believe everything she had seen that night. Her former lover had become one of the sisters, and had even found a man before she did. It was too fantastical!
Xu De didn't stay, leaving only Meng Yiran to keep her company. Compared with the innocent Xiao Wu, Meng Yiran was slightly less attractive, but she understood Xu De's thoughts very well and naturally knew why he had asked her to stay with Liu Erlong.
Having just gone through something like this, she needed time to come to terms with it. After all, Liu Erlong didn't have a very good temper, so Xu De decided to keep his head down for the time being.
After the matter was settled, Tang San walked back to his dormitory in a daze. Since the talent he had displayed during the test was among the best, the academy had given him a private room. He had just arrived and had no friends, so naturally no one told him what had just happened.
Only when he returned to his room did a voice come from behind his ear.
"Bastard, what have you done?! From now on, stay away from that bitch Yu Xiaogang!"
The voice demanding an answer was filled with suppressed anger. Clearly, he knew what Tang San had been through. Tang San, however, was baffled. "What on earth happened? Grandmaster is our teacher. How can you talk about him like that?!"
Hearing Tang San's words, the voice gave a cold snort before speaking. "I don't care what you want to do. If our lives weren't bound together, so that I could feel whatever happened to you too, do you think I'd want to bother with you?!"
As Tang San pressed him again, a rift tore open in front of him, and a mirror appeared in his hand.
"This is a Demigod Artifact I refined at great cost. See for yourself what happened. I have only one demand: Yu Xiaogang must die!"
In the mirror, a handsome youth with blue hair and blue eyes, dressed in gorgeous blue-and-gold robes and bearing a trident-shaped marking on his forehead, spoke with a look of disgust.
"One more thing: the Divine Realm has been somewhat unsettled lately. The two God Kings, Good and Evil, have reincarnated, and the spatial rifts between the two worlds are becoming harder and harder to suppress. In twenty years at most, they will completely merge. You'd better obtain Godhood quickly!"
