Background / History
Previous Life and Rebirth
Tang San remembers becoming a level-100 god, killing Bibi Dong, and resolving the Douluo Continent’s crisis. His last recollection before rebirth is preparing to marry Xiao Wu with Tang Hao, Grandmaster, and the Shrek group present. After drinking two cups of wine, he unexpectedly returns to his six-year-old body 1.
He initially sees rebirth as an opportunity to prevent the Soul Hunting Operation and Xiao Wu’s sacrifice. However, the changed village buildings, a stone Spirit Hall, and a female awakening official replacing Su Yuntao reveal that events no longer match his memories 1.
Search for Xiao Wu and the Nuoding Ambush
After Tang Hao takes him away from Holy Soul Village to escape the fighting, Tang San reveals knowledge of his father’s identity, the Clear Sky Sect, and his mother’s Soul Beast origins. He persuades Tang Hao to take him to Nuoding Academy, fearing that Xiao Wu is in danger 2.
Finding neither Xiao Wu nor Yu Xiaogang there, he assumes Xiao Wu has returned to the Star Dou Great Forest. He then plans to seize the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well’s Immortal Herbs, cure Dugu Bo’s poison to recruit him, and eventually rebuild the Shrek Seven Devils. Unknown to him, Xu De has already emptied the well of its herbs 3.
Xu De spots Tang San and Tang Hao from a Flying Ship and orders an attack. Tang Hao creates an escape opportunity, but Tang San freezes upon seeing Xiao Wu sheltering in Xu De’s arms. His attempt to identify himself as her “Third Brother” and confront Xu De gives the Sun Moon forces time to surround them again 3 4.
With Chen Xin’s assistance, Tang Hao breaks the encirclement and throws Tang San to safety. Rather than leave immediately, Tang San kneels toward Nuoding City, promises to resurrect his parents after becoming a god, and vows to destroy the Sun Moon Empire. Xu Tianxing targets him with the Scarlet Sun Cannon, forcing Tang Hao to intercept the blast. Chen Xin knocks Tang San unconscious and carries him away; Tang Hao subsequently dies 5 6.
Return to Cultivation and Mingdu
Over the following six years, Tang San returns to the Clear Sky Sect, wins over Xue Beng, and obtains two Soul Bones through deception. Despite these advantages, he reaches only level 34 and is shaken by Xu De’s faster cultivation 12 13.
At Mingdu Soul Master Academy, he seeks Yu Xiaogang, believing that studying under the same teacher who guided him in his previous life will restore his path to godhood. He finds Yu Xiaogang working in the Odd-job Department and kneels to request discipleship 17.
Betrayal and the God King Counterpart
Yu Xiaogang drugs and sexually assaults Tang San during what Tang San believes is a lesson. When others intervene, Tang San initially defends his teacher because he remembers only discussing Soul Skills and falling asleep 24 25.
An alternate Tang San who has already become a God King contacts him afterward. Their lives are bound together, allowing the counterpart to feel what happens to him. The God King supplies a Demigod Artifact mirror that reveals the assault, turning Tang San’s trust in Yu Xiaogang into a resolve to kill him 24 25.
The counterpart also warns that spatial rifts between their worlds are becoming harder to suppress and that the worlds will completely merge within twenty years at most. He urges Tang San to obtain godhood quickly 24.
Appearance
- At rebirth: A frail six-year-old child 3.
- After the time skip: Wears blue clothing when he appears at Mingdu’s academy entrance 13.
- Disguise: His God King counterpart alters his appearance and conceals his presence. The disguised face resembles a middle-aged Soul Master associated with Yu Xiaogang 17 25.
Personality
Tang San places great confidence in his previous-life experience. He expects familiar opportunities and relationships to remain available, initially dismissing discrepancies as faulty memory. His belief that Yu Xiaogang is essential to becoming a god leads him to disregard warnings and dismiss other instructors who have never taught a god 1 17.
His attachment to Xiao Wu becomes possessive when she chooses Xu De. He regards her as having betrayed him despite their relationship belonging to his previous life, and imagines making her beg for forgiveness after he surpasses Xu De 17.
He combines calculated opportunism with impulsive emotional reactions. He plans to use Dugu Bo’s need for treatment to gain both an ally and the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, yet his fixation on Xiao Wu and his public vow at Nuoding undermine escape opportunities secured by his father 3 4 5.
Abilities & Skills
Twin Martial Souls
- Awakens Blue Silver Grass and Clear Sky Hammer in his reborn life 2.
- His plant Martial Soul is later identified as Blue Silver Emperor; no separate awakening or evolution scene is provided in the passages 14.
Previous-Life Knowledge
- Retains knowledge of family secrets, future crises, valuable resources, and his former companions 1 2 3.
- Uses those memories to pursue political support and cultivation resources after Tang Hao’s death 13.
- His knowledge is unreliable in the altered world: Xiao Wu, Yu Xiaogang, and the Immortal Herbs are no longer where he expects them to be 3 17.
Hidden Weapons
- Takes pride in his Hidden Weapons. Xu De anticipates using Soul Tools to demonstrate their inferiority, but the supplied passages show no direct comparison involving Tang San 11.
God King Assistance
- Receives concealment and appearance-changing assistance from his alternate God King self; these are external interventions rather than demonstrated personal abilities 25.
- Their linked lives allow the God King to feel what Tang San experiences 24.
- Cross-world intervention affects spatial stability. Sending the mirror can cause temporary spatial overlaps 25.
Equipment / Items
- Two Soul Bones — Obtained before his Mingdu appearance; their types and abilities are unspecified 13.
- Demigod Artifact mirror — Refined and sent across worlds by his God King counterpart. Allows Tang San to review what happened during Yu Xiaogang’s supposed lesson 24 25.
Relationships
- Tang Hao — Father and protector. Conceals their family history until Tang San reveals that he already knows it; ultimately dies protecting him from the Scarlet Sun Cannon 2 5 6.
- Ah Yin — Mother, a Blue Silver Grass Soul Beast who took human form. Tang San promises to resurrect her alongside Tang Hao after regaining godhood 2 5.
- Xiao Wu — His intended bride in his previous life. The current Xiao Wu does not respond to his claim to be her beloved Third Brother and later establishes a romantic relationship with Xu De 1 4 12.
- Xu De — Enemy and romantic rival. Orders the Nuoding attack and deliberately seeks to prevent Tang San from reconnecting with companions who could enable his resurrection 4 11.
- Yu Xiaogang — Former-life teacher whom Tang San initially trusts completely. That loyalty ends after the mirror exposes Yu Xiaogang’s assault 17 24 25.
- Chen Xin — Rescuer at Nuoding. Takes Tang San away after Tang Hao’s final intervention, knocking him unconscious to prevent further delays 5.
- Xue Beng — Political contact whom Tang San wins over during the six years following his rebirth 13.
- God King Tang San — Alternate self, benefactor, and life-linked counterpart. Supplies concealment, a disguise, the mirror, and warnings about the impending merger of their worlds 24 25.
