Furious Confrontation with Qian Daoliu
"Precisely because he's my brother, that's why I did it," Qian Xunling said calmly. His Divine Aspect Martial Soul dissipated, but Golden Crocodile Douluo asked in confusion, "What do you mean?"
Qian Xunling pointed his chin at Qian Xunji, who lay unconscious like a dead dog. "Because he's utterly useless. He has Innate Level 20 Soul Power and the finest Angel Martial Soul on the entire continent, yet because of his temperament, he's already in his forties and still hasn't become a Titled Douluo."
"It would be one thing if he were from another sect, but he has access to the finest resources on the entire continent."
Golden Crocodile gave an awkward chuckle, but he couldn't help grumbling about Qian Xunling inwardly. If Qian Xunling hadn't been cutting his elder brother down since childhood, Qian Xunji's aptitude would actually have been enough for him to become a Titled Douluo already.
But from another perspective, Xunji really was too useless. He couldn't even measure up to his own younger brother. It was truly lamentable.
Then again, whoever compared themselves with Xunling seemed destined to be crushed. Golden Crocodile's expression grew a little grave. "Let's put that aside for now. Xunling, big brother wants to see you."
"That old man?" Qian Xunling asked.
"Uh... Xunling, big brother is your birth father. A son shouldn't address his father like that," Golden Crocodile advised.
"Oh, come on. He isn't even as close to me as you are, Uncle Golden Crocodile. Calling him an old man is already giving him too much credit." Qian Xunling turned and walked toward Bibi Dong, sneering. "I need to teach a certain little thing a proper lesson."
Golden Crocodile asked again, "So, Xunling, will you go see big brother?"
"All right, I know. Since you've begged me like this, Uncle Golden Crocodile, of course I have to give you some face." Qian Xunling waved a hand.
It was rare to hear something heartwarming from Qian Xunling.
Golden Crocodile smiled in satisfaction. He turned to look at Qian Xunji, sighed, and shook his head. "First, I'd better find someone to treat Xunji."
When Chrysanthemum and Ghost saw Qian Xunling approaching, they were exceedingly respectful, even more solemn than they had been at Qian Xunji's side. Qian Xunling ignored the pair and fixed his eyes on Bibi Dong.
Bibi Dong wrung her hands, her whole body seemingly curled into a little ball. When she raised her head slightly and saw Qian Xunling, her nose reddened. "I... I'm sorry, Martial Uncle. Dong'er knows she was wrong. From now on, I'll never do anything to hurt you again."
"What did you do wrong?" Qian Xunling asked coldly.
"Dong'er shouldn't have told Teacher your secret," Bibi Dong replied.
Qian Xunling sneered. "But last night I didn't say you couldn't tell anyone else that secret."
"Huh?" Bibi Dong's eyes immediately filled with confusion.
Thump. Qian Xunling tapped Bibi Dong on the forehead. She covered it in pain, and her fair forehead turned bright red. Qian Xunling continued, "But I didn't say you could tell anyone else, either."
"Then, Martial Uncle, did I do something wrong or not?" Bibi Dong didn't dare say it hurt, and she was even more curious now about why her martial uncle had said that.
Qian Xunling said, "I told you the secret, so it became yours too. If you had told that teacher of yours before you knew how important it was, I wouldn't have blamed you.
"But you told your teacher after you knew how precious the secret was. That's why I'm angry now. Understand?"
"I... don't really understand." Bibi Dong thought it over, then shook her head.
"You don't need to understand. Martial Uncle only needs you to remember this. If you ever run into something like this again, don't be so foolish as to casually give certain important things to others, or someone will be unhappy, just like Martial Uncle."
Bibi Dong still didn't understand, but she committed his words to memory. She nodded and asked, "Then, Martial Uncle, do you not hate Dong'er anymore?"
"No, I still hate you very much, so you still have to be punished." Qian Xunling's expression was serious.
"Huh? Dong'er doesn't want that. Martial Uncle, please don't hate Dong'er, all right?" Bibi Dong anxiously tried to grab Qian Xunling, but he turned sideways and she grasped at empty air. Qian Xunling looked at Chrysanthemum and Ghost. "Take her back to cultivate."
"Tonight, Martial Uncle expects to see you in the Pope's Hall plaza. Martial Uncle is going to punish you properly. Do you understand, Little Spider?"
With that, Qian Xunling leaped away and vanished.
When Bibi Dong heard she was going to be punished, it was as though she had lost ten jin. Her little face went drawn, and she looked helplessly at Chrysanthemum and Ghost.
The pair didn't dare meet Bibi Dong's eyes and hurriedly took her out of the Soul Hunting Forest.
Night fell.
Qian Xunling arrived at the Worship Hall.
Qian Xunling had never been very willing to come here since childhood.
This was the only place he had yet to remodel, simply because a peak expert lived inside-and that expert was also the birth father of his current body.
Although the two were father and son, their relationship was terrible.
A deep, dignified voice came from inside the Worship Hall. "Since you're here, come in."
"Heh." Mockery curled Qian Xunling's lips as he sauntered inside with the swagger of a good-for-nothing young master. "You make it sound like I wanted to come."
As soon as he entered, Qian Xunling saw the lifelike Angel God Statue. Beneath the enormous statue stood a tall man with slicked-back white hair. Qian Daoliu had his back to Qian Xunling.
"Before the Angel God Statue, put away that flippant attitude." Soul Power pressed down on Qian Xunling from Qian Daoliu, who turned and glared at him, the gesture carrying a hint of threat.
But Qian Xunling didn't panic in the least. He merely stopped and sneered. "If your dark soy sauce has gone bad, throw it out. Why keep it for cooking?"
"Bastard!"
Qian Daoliu grew a little angry and increased the Soul Power pressing down on Qian Xunling.
The Soul Power of a Level 99 Limit Douluo was no joke.
He could whip a Hundred-Thousand-Year Soul Beast around like a spinning top.
But Qian Xunling wasn't about to take this crap. Even with the pressure making his whole body sting, he shouted, "Old bastard, if you want to kill me, just say so. Don't give me any bullshit about fattening me up before the slaughter."
With that, Qian Xunling stuck out his neck and made a chopping motion with the edge of his hand. "Come on, come on, chop right here. Quick and clean. You won't have to strain yourself, and I won't have to suffer."
"You!" Qian Daoliu clenched his fists and turned all the way around.
"Heh, can't bring yourself to do it? If you can't, then take back your damn Soul Power! You think this makes you look impressive?!" Qian Xunling couldn't hold out any longer and dropped to one knee, the blood churning inside him.
The old bastard seemed to be getting a little serious.
"Cough, cough, cough." Qian Xunling covered his mouth, only to find it bright red with blood. Some distance away, Qian Daoliu's anger also cooled a little, and he prepared to withdraw his Soul Power. Just then, Golden Crocodile rushed back in from outside and saw the scene.
"Big brother! Stop!"
"Weren't we going to discuss things properly with Xunling? How did it suddenly turn into this again? Big brother, stop!" Golden Crocodile said urgently, using his own Soul Power to resist Qian Daoliu's.
But the gap between their Soul Powers was simply too great.
Seeing a way to step down, Qian Daoliu waved his sleeve and withdrew his Soul Power. "I was only teaching him a lesson," he said coldly. "This is the most sacred place in Spirit Hall. He can't be allowed to make trouble so unreasonably."
With the Soul Power no longer suppressing him, Qian Xunling shakily raised his right hand, preparing to make a friendly gesture. Sensing something was wrong, Golden Crocodile appeared at his side in an instant and took the opportunity to support him while pressing his right hand down.
"Xunling, are you all right?" Golden Crocodile gave a wry smile.
Qian Xunling still refused to yield. His words muffled by the blood in his mouth, he opened it to curse Qian Daoliu, but Golden Crocodile immediately noticed. Silently asking him not to take offense, he promptly clapped a hand over Qian Xunling's mouth.
"Mm?" Qian Xunling stared at Golden Crocodile, dumbfounded.
Golden Crocodile pleaded desperately, "Xunling, give your Uncle Golden Crocodile some face. Just this once, one last time, please. Uncle is begging you."
Qian Xunling felt as though he was about to explode.
