Luo Fu
At Philipzi Warrior Academy, it was time to recruit new students, and the academy would soon open for the term. Most of the returning students had been making their way back from all over, and the academy was now bustling with activity.
By now, Luo Feng had brought his younger brother Luo Fu to Philipzi Warrior Academy. As for the Silver Dragon, Luo Feng had told him to find a place to stay in the forest. With their contract, they could communicate telepathically as long as they weren't too far apart. Besides, the Silver Dragon was a Level Nine Magical Beast, so there was no way he could bring it to the academy. With the Silver Dragon's personality, he would want nothing more than for everyone to look at him with worship in their eyes.
With a bundle bearing faint traces of blood on his back, Luo Feng led his brother to the gates of Philipzi Warrior Academy.
The academy and the Mountain Range of Magical Beasts were complete opposites. No one here dared kill indiscriminately, and the atmosphere was pleasant. The mountain range, however, was a world of magical beasts, where the strong reigned supreme and the weak were eliminated. Killing could happen at any moment.
Students at the academy were therefore a little more sheltered. Though they progressed slowly, they were safe. Training in the Magical Beast Forest brought faster progress: after all, the repeated real battles were a great help to growth. But it was far less safe, and many people died there.
"It's Luo Fu." The gate guards at Philipzi Warrior Academy naturally recognized Luo Fu, a famous figure at the academy. At sixteen, he was already a Warrior of the Fifth Rank, which made him something of a celebrity at school. Though he wasn't considered a genius, he was still quite good, so they naturally didn't stop him.
Luo Fu gave the guards a slight nod, then entered the academy with Luo Feng. As they walked down an academy street, quite a few Phillips students on their way to class saw Luo Fu and began whispering among themselves.
"Hey, guys, look. Isn't that Luo Fu? I heard he broke through half a month ago and became a Warrior of the Fifth Rank."
"That's right. I took the entrance test with him back then. It's been almost ten years, and I'm still only a Warrior of the Third Rank. I never thought he'd already be a Warrior of the Fifth Rank."
Listening to the murmurs around them, Luo Feng gained a general idea of how hard Luo Fu had worked over the past few years.
Just then, a discordant voice suddenly rang out. "What's so impressive about that? Our young master Disi is the best. I hear he broke through from a Warrior of the Fifth Rank yesterday and became a Warrior of the Sixth Rank. He's already a fifth-year student."
Luo Feng frowned slightly as he listened. He knew of this Disi, who was two years older than Luo Fu. One of Disi's younger male cousins was in Luo Fu's class, and Luo Feng had also heard that Luo Fu and the cousin didn't get along very well. Afterward, Disi had often caused trouble for Luo Fu, but as Luo Feng's reputation as a genius grew, he hadn't dared act so outrageously.
"That's right. How could that brat Luo Fu possibly compare to our young master Disi? Young master Disi is the first in line to inherit the Madasi Clan. Luo Fu is just a country bumpkin. How could he compare to our young master Disi?"
"Exactly. A guy like Luo Fu actually dares compete with young master Disi for Miss Feilin? He ought to take a look at his own status."
Luo Feng turned to look at Luo Fu. Seeing his somewhat dazed expression, Luo Feng seemed to understand something. He smiled and said, "Little Luo Fu, do you like that girl named Feilin?"
After a long while, Luo Fu finally answered, "Yes, I like him. I've liked him since the first time we met." He then gave a self-deprecating smile. "But she doesn't like me. She hasn't said it outright, but I know she looks down on me."
Looking at his younger brother, Luo Feng didn't know what to say. At sixteen, he already knew what it was to like a girl. Luo Feng was both exasperated and amused. "Luo Fu, tell me, does that girl like you or not? Or does she look down on you because we're commoners?" Luo Feng suddenly grew serious.
Though he felt somewhat helpless that little Luo Fu had fallen for a girl so early, Luo Fu was still his younger brother. Luo Feng seriously wondered whether little Luo Fu was merely fond of the girl or really liked her. At his age, what did he know about love?
"She looks down on me. Her roommate told me the other day. Even though she and I get along quite well, she won't fall for me, because she's a noble." Luo Fu clenched all ten fingers tightly.
"My little brother wouldn't be so spineless. Since she looks down on you, that's her lack of judgment and her loss. Why should you care? You're a man. As long as you're strong, do you have to worry that no women will like you? My Luo Fu is so handsome. Is that something you even need to worry about?" Luo Feng smiled and tousled Luo Fu's hair.
If that girl Feilin had liked Luo Fu, Luo Feng would certainly have supported them all the way. A noble? So what if she was a noble? If he really wanted to become a noble himself, he could simply apply to graduate. Becoming an Earl would be child's play. Unfortunately, the girl didn't like Luo Fu, and that was different.
"First love is beautiful. It's the purest kind of love, without any impurities or interests mixed into those feelings. But pure love can't replace everything. Little Luo Fu, I hope you can be a little braver when facing your feelings, and of course a little more rational too. First love is just one sight along the journey of your life. The girl willing to stay by your side is still your destination." Looking at the somewhat dejected little Luo Fu, Luo Feng tried to comfort him.
The idle gossip from the people around them greatly irritated Luo Feng. People were like that: show a little weakness, and they would become more aggressive. Show a little strength, and they would immediately wilt.
"I'm giving you three seconds. Get lost, now." Hearing the group grow more and more carried away, Luo Feng, who had originally been ready to let it go, frowned. Weren't these people going a little too far? His principle was that if others didn't offend him, he wouldn't offend them; if they did, he would kill them. He couldn't be bothered to explain. Fists were reason. If their incessant chattering annoyed him, he could simply kill them.
"Who the hell do you think you are? How dare you act so arrogantly at Philipzi Warrior Academy? Our boss is young master Disi, the first in line to inherit the Madasi Clan. I-" Before he could finish, he found himself unable to continue.
"Shut up." Luo Feng couldn't be bothered wasting so many words on him. He had given them a chance to leave, yet they stayed there chattering. Only good-for-nothings relied on their backing to bully others. In Luo Feng's eyes, fists were the only real law.
Luo Feng suddenly kicked out. Having grasped Wielding Something Light as Though It Were Heavy, he circulated a little Battle-qi, and a skyful of kicking leg afterimages flew toward those people. He couldn't be bothered wasting words on them, watching them chatter away.
In this world, there was no such thing as reason. The bigger fist was the only real law. Reasoning? Who had time to reason with you? Only trash talked secretly behind others' backs. The strong disdained to argue. Right or wrong was decided by fists. That was the iron rule of survival.
"Useless trash. Luo Fu, let's go." Looking at the people sprawled haphazardly on the ground, Luo Feng spoke with disdain. He then led Luo Fu away from the crowd and toward the dormitory.
