Saint-domain Silver Dragon
Luo Feng watched the black light flash across his body and vanish. "What was that?" he asked.
Harry smiled and explained, "That's the friendship of our rat clan. From now on, the gates of the Dark Forest will always be open to you, and you can command the rats of our clan here."
Luo Feng was stunned. Command the rat clan? What did that mean? Bebe had practically swept through the entire Chaotic Territory with his rat swarms, forcing the Radiant Church and the Dark Church to negotiate with Linley. And now Luo Feng had the same authority. How could he not be shocked?
Luo Feng was about to decline when Harvey spoke up beside him. "There's no need to refuse. There are plenty of high-level magical beast rats at the fifth, sixth, and seventh levels. The weaker ones were eliminated long ago. But no matter how many rats there are, they're useless against a Saint Domain expert. We're only giving you this so you can enter the Dark Forest whenever you like without being attacked by the rat swarms."
Luo Feng thought it over. That was true, so he stopped trying to refuse.
At that moment, Hart, the second brother, took out a pair of gloves as thin as cicada wings. Green light flowed over them, making them exceptionally gorgeous. "Luo Feng, these are for you. I know you don't have a weapon, so I'm giving you these gloves. A good weapon is important when fighting someone, and it's not ideal to always use your bare hands. I got these gloves from an expert I killed years ago. They're yours now."
Luo Feng was taken aback. It was true: he had never given any thought to weapons, believing his bare fists were the best weapons. But after so many challenges, he had come to realize more and more how much a good weapon could help his strength. He had been unable to find a good one, though, and had left the matter unresolved. Hart's gloves had come just when he needed them.
Once he calmed down, however, Luo Feng hesitated. Who were Harry and his brothers? Others might not know, but he certainly did. They were Beirut's sons. Beirut was best at making Divine Spark weapons, and he was an Overgod himself. Even if Harry and his brothers couldn't make Divine Spark weapons, as an Overgod's sons, they were bound to have Highgod Artifacts to give away. Luo Feng hesitated, unsure whether he should accept.
"All right, I said they're yours, so they're yours. Why all the fuss? I can't use these gloves anyway, so it's nothing to give them to you. We owe you an enormous favor. As a friend, I ought to give you something. Go on and bind them with your blood." Hart seemed to have guessed why Luo Feng was hesitating and couldn't help laughing.
"All right, then. Thank you. I don't know what favor you're talking about, but as a friend, I'll remember your kindness." After a long while, Luo Feng accepted the gloves. For one thing, he truly needed a good weapon. For another, Hart had said so much that refusing again would have seemed insincere.
He extended his index finger and formed a Wind Blade on it. He cut his arm and dripped blood onto the gloves. Once Luo Feng bound them with his blood, the gloves slipped onto his hands.
Luo Feng didn't even have to guess. They were definitely a Highgod Artifact. The dense baleful aura inside forced the spiritual energy he had just sent into them to retreat at once. Luo Feng was still only a Saint Domain expert, so he could only fight using the divine artifact's material itself.
The unexpected acquisition of a Highgod Artifact filled Luo Feng with delight. He was just about to give his thanks when Harry, the eldest, spoke. "Kid, when are you planning to leave?"
Luo Feng smiled faintly. "Soon, I suppose. I can't say exactly when, but I've been away for ten years. It's time I went home."
Seeing that Luo Feng had made up his mind to leave, Harry made no attempt to keep him. Fortunately, all three brothers had already found the point where their Laws fused, so it no longer made much difference whether Luo Feng stayed in the Dark Forest. But as Luo Feng was preparing to set out, Harry tossed him something.
"What's this?" Luo Feng asked, looking at Harry and then at the fist-sized, silvery-white crystal in his hand.
"It's the magic core of a Light-element Saint-level Magical Beast. It should be enough to let that little dragon of yours break through and become a Saint-level Magical Beast," Harry explained when he saw Luo Feng's confusion.
Luo Feng was astonished. If Harry hadn't told him that the fist-sized, silvery-white crystal was the Magic Crystal Core of a Light-element Saint-level Magical Beast, he would have found it hard to believe.
"The energy of a Saint-level Magical Beast's Magic Crystal Core is completely contained. In fact, even the energy aura of a Level Nine Magical Beast's crystal core is very well contained," Harvey explained.
Luo Feng nodded. Having read the original novel, he naturally knew this, but it hadn't occurred to him immediately. Or rather, he simply hadn't expected Harry to give him a Saint-level magic core, which was why he had been so confused.
Luo Feng immediately understood what Harry and his brothers meant. Of all the Saint-level magic cores they could have given him, they had chosen a Light-element one. He would have been an idiot not to realize they were helping his magical pet advance. He smiled and said, "Thank you."
Harry and his brothers vanished with a whoosh. Knowing that Luo Feng understood their intentions, they couldn't be bothered to say anything more and left.
"Wa'ersi, come with me."
Luo Feng glanced at Wa'ersi and walked off to the side. The Silver Dragon immediately followed.
"Silver Dragon, this is a Saint-level magic core. It's of the Light Element," Luo Feng said to the puzzled Silver Dragon.
As soon as Luo Feng said that, the clever Silver Dragon guessed what he intended to do. His eyes lit up.
"Hehe, Master, I understand what you mean! Are you going to give me this Saint-level crystal core? Haha, I, Wa'ersi, was right after all! I'm going to become a Saint-level Magical Beast too! Haha, the day has finally come when I, Wa'ersi, can become a Saint-level Magical Beast! I knew I hadn't chosen the wrong master!" The Silver Dragon was already incoherent.
He was going to become a Saint-level Magical Beast, after all. That was every magical beast's wish. He had once believed that Level Nine was his limit, but everything had changed after he met his master. He had once imagined that Luo Feng might become a Saint-domain expert and help him obtain a Saint-level magic core, allowing him to break through and become a Saint-level Magical Beast. But he could only dream of it then, and now it lay right before him. His feelings were easy to imagine.
"Refine this Saint-level magic core. I'll stand guard for you," Luo Feng said with a smile, understanding how the Silver Dragon Wa'ersi felt.
Wa'ersi took the magic core from Luo Feng and swallowed it in one gulp, then lay down on the ground. Before long, his body began to bulge beneath his scales with a sizzling sound, as though little mice were running around under them. Silvery-white currents swirled around his body. Eyes closed, the Silver Dragon let out a low groan of pain.
Luo Feng knew that a magical beast's head was its most important part, since that was where its Magic Crystal Core was. Above the Silver Dragon's head, the silvery-white currents swirled rapidly. After a long while, the scales covering his body began to change rapidly, and just as his muscles, sinews, and bones were undergoing a drastic transformation,
the silvery-white currents finally settled. They flowed straight into the Silver Dragon Wa'ersi's head. Then his body also grew still, and the scales covering it stopped changing.
"Did you succeed?" A faint smile appeared on Luo Feng's lips.
"Yes, Master." A warm, holy human voice came from the Silver Dragon's mouth.
