Douluo: My Custom Achievement System
Could the academy be hiding an Ultimate Ice Soul Master he knew nothing about?
Though it was virtually impossible, Yan Shaozhe couldn't help wondering.
"Dean, this goes back to the assessment you arranged for Jiang Yi and the others."
"Oh? What does that have to do with it?" Yan Shaozhe was somewhat puzzled.
Of Jiang Yi and the others, Xu Sanshi seemed to be the only one with a water attribute capable of suppressing the Evil Fire. But he hardly seemed like a better choice.
Seeing how anxious Yan Shaozhe was, Du Weilun didn't dare keep him in suspense. He cut straight to the point and explained that Jiang Yi's Blue Silver Grass possessed the sacred attribute.
Yan Shaozhe was stunned. "Blue Silver Grass and the sacred attribute? How could those two things possibly be connected?"
"The sacred attribute... if it really possesses the sacred attribute, its ability to suppress Evil Fire is indeed far greater than that of ordinary water and ice attributes."
"But is it really suitable to use the sacred attribute to suppress Evil Fire?"
There was no doubt that the sacred attribute was exceptionally effective against the evil attribute. If used against an Evil Soul Master, it would naturally be ideal.
But if it was used for suppression, things weren't quite so simple.
While suppressing the Evil Fire, the sacred attribute would also harm its wielder.
Ma Xiaotao's Evil Fire was attached to her Martial Soul Origin, so contact with the sacred attribute would cause her Martial Soul to suffer the pain of being scorched.
He didn't know whether Ma Xiaotao could endure such pain, or whether it might cause any harm.
"I need to ask my teacher for his opinion, and then ask Xiaotao what she thinks. But knowing that child, she should agree for the sake of cultivation."
At the thought, Yan Shaozhe couldn't help feeling helpless. He knew that even though her Evil Fire could no longer be suppressed, Ma Xiaotao was still cultivating in secret.
If this continued, the Evil Fire could easily erode Ma Xiaotao's mind and cause her to lose control.
Yan Shaozhe nodded slightly and said, "Weilun, you handled this matter well."
"And as for making Jiang Yi a core disciple, go prepare the form first. I'll sign and stamp it."
"Dean, I've already prepared the form." Praised by Yan Shaozhe, Du Weilun smiled and hurriedly took out what he had prepared beforehand.
Yan Shaozhe took the form, glanced at it, and signed and stamped it.
"Good work."
"Thank you for the praise, Dean. I'll be going now." Du Weilun took the signed form and left the office.
Yan Shaozhe sat in his office, considering the possible effects the sacred attribute might have on Ma Xiaotao.
That night, Jiang Yi and Jiang Nannan came to the east gate of Shrek Academy and met up with Bei Bei and the others, who had already arrived.
"Hehe, Xu Sanshi, I heard you're treating us tonight. I'm going to have a proper feast," Tang Ya said with a mischievous grin.
"Eat all you want. No matter how much you can eat, can you really eat me into poverty?" Xu Sanshi said indifferently.
He then pulled Ruan Qingjun over and introduced her to Jiang Yi, Jiang Nannan, and Tang Ya.
"This is Qingjun. She's my girlfriend." Xu Sanshi awkwardly rubbed his hair.
Ruan Qingjun, on the other hand, was poised and at ease. With a gentle smile, she said, "Hello, seniors. My name is Ruan Qingjun. I'm a student in freshman class three."
Class three? Then she's a food system Soul Master, Jiang Yi thought, his eyes flashing.
Classes one and two at Shrek Academy consisted of control, assault, and agility attack system Soul Masters.
Classes three and four, meanwhile, consisted of support, food, and healing system Soul Masters who lacked combat ability.
The three introduced themselves in a friendly manner as well, and thus became acquainted with Ruan Qingjun.
"All right, let's go! Let's have a proper celebration for passing such a difficult class assessment!" Xu Sanshi called out happily.
Chapter 70: Bei Bei's Gift in Return (Please keep reading!)
After eating at the Shrek Grand Hotel with Bei Bei, Xu Sanshi, and the others last night, the group had wandered around other parts of Shrek City before returning to Shrek Academy.
The following morning, in second-year class one.
"Students, second-year class one's advancement assessment ended yesterday afternoon. I imagine you already know the results."
Lin Yu stood at the lectern, smiling at the beaming students of class one.
Everyone nodded with a smile. Early that morning, they had already learned the results from Jiang Yi and the other three.
"Congratulations on passing this advancement assessment and officially becoming second-year students of Shrek Academy."
"But don't slack off in your cultivation. Even harder assessments await you in the future," Lin Yu cautioned.
"There's one more thing." Lin Yu looked up at Jiang Yi with a smile.
Jiang Yi was a little puzzled. Then he heard Lin Yu say, "Because of his outstanding performance in this class assessment, Jiang Yi has met the requirements to become a core disciple of Shrek Academy's Outer Court."
"The academy has therefore decided to make an exception and grant Jiang Yi the status of a core disciple."
With that, Lin Yu was the first to applaud Jiang Yi.
The other students came to their senses and applauded Jiang Yi in congratulations as well.
Core disciple status? Jiang Yi was surprised. He hadn't paid any attention to the matter, yet core disciple status had come knocking at his door.
But it wasn't entirely unexpected. His circumstances differed from Huo Yuhao's back then.
Although their Soul Power was about the same and both had only one Soul Ring, the difference was enormous.
One had a white ring, while the other's First Soul Ring was purple. Jiang Yi knew Huo Yuhao's white ring was a million-year ring, but the people at Shrek Academy didn't.
Moreover, the combat strength Jiang Yi had displayed was simply too formidable.
His performance had been so dazzling that if Shrek Academy's people didn't make him a core disciple, they truly would all be blind.
Now that I'm a core disciple, I can eat better from now on, Jiang Yi thought.
Without dwelling on the matter, Jiang Yi immersed himself in cultivation.
Li Lingyu had long since taught him the knowledge covered in Shrek Academy's classes, so Jiang Yi couldn't be bothered to listen.
Time passed quickly as he cultivated, and the morning classes soon ended.
Jiang Yi finished cultivating and was just about to go to the cafeteria with Jiang Nannan and use his core disciple status to enjoy a good meal.
But Bei Bei called out to him from behind.
"Bei Bei, what is it?" Jiang Yi asked curiously.
Usually, Bei Bei went straight to Tang Ya after class. Why had he come to him this time?
There was no one else left in the classroom, so Bei Bei spoke directly. "Jiang Yi, thank you for your guidance on the direction of Little Ya's cultivation last time."
Jiang Yi smiled. "Don't mention it. It was just a small favor."
"It was a small favor to you, but to other Blue Silver Grass Soul Masters, it could change their destiny," Bei Bei said with a sigh.
"Jiang Yi, you said before that you didn't want anything in return, but I can't leave you unrewarded. Take this as thanks for guiding Little Ya."
Bei Bei took out a white jade porcelain bottle and tried to hand it to Jiang Yi.
But Jiang Yi didn't reach for it and was just about to refuse.
"This is a token of my appreciation. Please don't refuse," Bei Bei said seriously.
Seeing this, Jiang Yi swallowed the words on the tip of his tongue and reached out to take the porcelain bottle from Bei Bei.
"Then I'll accept it."
A smile appeared on Bei Bei's face. He waved and left the classroom to find Tang Ya.
After Bei Bei left, Jiang Nannan leaned over curiously and asked, "Brother Jiang Yi, what did Bei Bei give you?"
"Let's open it and find out," Jiang Yi said with a smile.
He opened the white jade porcelain bottle, and a rich medicinal fragrance immediately wafted out. A single whiff left his whole body feeling refreshed.
Inside the porcelain bottle was a dark blue pill the size of a cherry, with numerous white lines of varying shades on its surface.
A faint layer of mist also surrounded the pill.
Jiang Yi stared at it in surprise. "A Mystic Water Pill?"
"This is a Mystic Water Pill?" Jiang Nannan exclaimed in surprise as well.
Jiang Nannan's face soon lit up with delight. "That's wonderful! Brother Jiang Yi, you can improve your Innate Soul Power!"
"Yes, I can finally improve it." Jiang Yi was somewhat emotional.
If he had possessed a Mystic Water Pill when he broke through to level ten, it wouldn't have been so difficult.
Jiang Yi put the Mystic Water Pill away, planning to take it after returning to his dormitory that night.
Shrek Inner Court, dormitory building.
Ma Xiaotao sat cross-legged on her bed, cultivating with intense concentration. At first, her presence was perfectly calm, but barely ten minutes later, a scorching heat radiated from her body.
Wisps of flame spilled out of her. In an instant, her body became an unstable furnace, as though it might explode at any moment.
The golden-red flames were astonishingly hot, with wisps of black flame mixed among them. It was this Evil Fire that caused Ma Xiaotao's presence to become unstable.
Ma Xiaotao's body trembled constantly. Just as the furnace was about to explode, her eyes snapped open, and golden-red flames surged out.
She gritted her teeth and controlled her Soul Power to suppress the Evil Fire within her.
"Huff, huff, huff!" Ma Xiaotao gasped for breath. Suppressing her Evil Fire had taken a great deal of effort.
As soon as I cultivate, I can't control the Evil Fire. If this goes on, I'm afraid I'll really lose control the moment I cultivate from now on.
"Am I really unable to continue cultivating?" Ma Xiaotao's eyes were full of unwillingness.
As a genius of the Shrek Inner Court, she had already become a Soul Emperor before the age of twenty. If she could cultivate normally, she could even break through to Soul Saint before turning twenty.
For someone like her, giving up cultivation was simply too painful.
"Sigh, for now I can only put it aside. I wonder if Teacher has found someone to suppress the Evil Fire for me?"
Ma Xiaotao lay weakly on the bed. Because of her Martial Soul, everything on her bed was made from fireproof materials, and lying on it felt cool.
As she thought about the person who would help suppress her Evil Fire, Yan Shaozhe had also come to Mu En to ask about the matter.
Inside the Sea God Pavilion, Mu En lay in a chair, his head lowered and eyes closed, as though asleep.
"Teacher." Yan Shaozhe bowed respectfully.
"Shaozhe, what is it? Go ahead." Mu En neither opened his eyes nor his mouth, yet his aged voice rang out.
Yan Shaozhe explained Jiang Yi's situation and voiced his concerns.
"Blue Silver Grass with the sacred attribute, a thousand-year First Soul Ring, and combat strength comparable to a Soul Elder at level sixteen," Mu En repeated softly.
"Another monster has come to Shrek."
Chapter 71: Mu En's Opinion, Level Seventeen (Please keep reading!)
After saying this, Mu En fell silent and considered the concerns Yan Shaozhe had just raised.
After about a minute, Mu En said slowly, "The sacred attribute will indeed harm Xiaotao while suppressing the Evil Fire."
"But harm can be severe or slight. The sacred attribute counters the evil attribute, but not to an outrageous degree."
"It would be extremely difficult for the sacred power of a level-sixteen Soul Master to injure a level-sixty-five Soul Emperor with the evil attribute."
"Besides, Xiaotao isn't a Soul Master with a purely evil attribute. The harm the evil attribute does to her isn't as great as you imagine."
Yan Shaozhe nodded slightly in agreement, and Mu En continued, "But Xiaotao's Evil Fire is in her origin. If it comes into close contact with the sacred attribute, pain is unavoidable. Follow-up treatment must be provided."
"You must ask Xiaotao for her own opinion on this matter. And you must also respect the wishes of that child called Jiang Yi. You cannot force him."
"If he has any requests, do your best to accommodate him. Shrek must hold on to a gifted student like him. Do you understand?"
"I understand," Yan Shaozhe hurriedly replied.
"You may go," Mu En said.
Yan Shaozhe immediately withdrew from the Sea God Pavilion with a respectful bow.
"Xuan Zi actually showed such discernment this time, finding a genius like this for the academy."
"A Blue Silver Grass Soul Master, only level sixteen at twelve years old. His Innate Soul Power can't have been high. How far can this child go? If he's suitable..."
