Background / History

Gong Xue was originally called Xiao Xue. Abandoned by her family, she suffered at the hands of human traffickers before joining Gong Yu’s household with her elder sister, Xiao Lan. When offered the choice to leave, she was the first girl to say she wanted to stay and asked permission to call Gong Yu “Big Brother” 7 12.

Gong Yu renamed her Gong Xue when he gave all eight girls his surname, declaring that they were now family. He provided clothes and accommodation and promised to teach them cultivation 8.

Two months later, Gong Xue found an amnesiac silver-haired girl outside their home and brought her inside. Gong Yu welcomed the girl as Gong Na’er, the household’s ninth sister. No longer the youngest, Gong Xue immediately promised to protect her 10.

The household later settled in Gengxin City to learn blacksmithing. Gong Yu regularly took the girls to Soul Fighting Arenas, combining income from matches with practical combat training 20.

Gong Xue is lively, boastful, mischievous, and eager to attract attention. She frequently interrupts explanations and volunteers to demonstrate her gains before anyone else. Her swagger and unruly habits repeatedly earn reprimands from Gong Lan 10 28 30 35 36.

Her enthusiasm for fighting can become excessive. Gong Lan often intervenes first when the group encounters wrongdoing because Gong Xue tends to beat offenders half to death. She also enjoys humiliating enemies, instigating the use of Gong Xi’er’s hallucinogenic mist against the Shrek group in a public square 17 19 26.

Although described as lazy and disinclined to think through technical matters, she understands combat advice quickly when she takes it seriously. Gong Miaomiao’s criticism of her wasteful attacks prompts genuine reflection, while Gong Yu’s explanation of the Flame Dragon Bear helps her recognize that flames—not individual Soul Skills—are the foundation of her fighting style 19 20 35.

She is deeply attached to Gong Yu, crying with relief when he awakens after a dangerous incident and insisting that she would never look down on him regardless of his appearance. Gong Yu nevertheless worries that her cheerful toughness may conceal the trauma of abandonment and trafficking; this remains his concern rather than a confirmed explanation of her behavior 12 23.

Suotuo City and the Star Dou Great Forest

Gong Xue defeats Ma Hongjun at the Suotuo City Soul Fighting Arena using aerial flame attacks and a large fireball bombardment. The victory also exposes her tendency to spend too much Soul Power for a decisive finish, leading to criticism from her sisters 20.

During the subsequent forest expedition, she burns the Man Faced Demon Spider’s corpse at Gong Yu’s instruction, exposing the External Soul Bone hidden in its remains 23.

Gong Yu excludes her from the Rose Squad’s match against Shrek because Ma Hongjun would recognize her. Later, she persuades Gong Xi’er to use her pink mist on the Shrek group and Yu Xiaogang in the city square. Gong Yu eventually reprimands those responsible and tells them they owe Oscar and Zhu Zhuqing an apology 24 26 73.

Immortal Herbs and Fourth Soul Ring

At the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, Gong Xue consumes the Cockscomb Phoenix Sunflower, evolving her Martial Soul and reaching level 38. Further cultivation and flame purification bring her to the level-40 bottleneck 30 33.

She initially doubts whether a Flame Dragon Bear’s limited attack patterns suit a flying Soul Master. Gong Yu explains its compatibility with her flames and claws, persuading her to absorb its ring. Her resulting Flame Luan Emperor Claw fulfills her desire to fight effectively at close range 35 36.
