The Gods Bled! The Bloodstained Road of the Celestial Dragons!
More than a month had passed in the blink of an eye since the first Celestial Dragon point assessment had begun with great fanfare.
Just arranging the four tests for nearly ten thousand Celestial Dragons in batches had taken a full fifteen days.
To grade the intelligence and personal virtue exams, every clerical worker at World Government headquarters had been called in.
Over the past few days, Pangaea Castle had been announcing the point totals.
While Lu Ye read and lifted weights in the Room of Authority, he had often heard wailing outside that sounded like air-raid sirens.
After all, anyone who failed to earn two thousand points would not only be branded dirty blood and have their share of the Heavenly Tribute drastically reduced, but would also be confined to the Holy Land and reliably woken at seven every morning by a certain bastard.
As Celestial Dragons, going to bed early and getting up early? They might as well just die!
At such times, a certain bastard would inevitably come out of the Room of Authority and kick them in the ass a few times. Sometimes he kicked them in the face, too, before kindly telling them to get lost and wail somewhere else.
That day, Lu Ye finished his training as usual and was about to head to the Room of Authority.
Hoffman suddenly reminded him, "Lord Saint Garling asked me to tell you that if you have nothing urgent to do today, you needn't go over."
Lu Ye rubbed his chin.
"Old Hoffman, I could've gone or stayed away today if you hadn't said anything. But now that you have, there's bound to be something entertaining going on, so I absolutely have to go!"
As he spoke, Lu Ye nudged Hoffman with his elbow.
"What happened in Pangaea Castle? Don't tell me Uncle Garling's going to kill the old Star geezers?"
Flora carefully glanced at the solemn-faced Hoffman, hooked her fingers together, and said quietly:
"Lord Saint Longinus, haven't you noticed anything different today?"
"Different..."
Lu Ye's smile froze.
Simp Xia and Charlos, who liked sneaking bites of the reserve food, hadn't shown up all day. Did that count?
But wasn't that just how children were? They liked one thing today and another tomorrow.
Perhaps the two of them were at some gladiatorial arena right now, taking part in a nauseating slave fight.
That was what Lu Ye had thought before, but now that Flora had brought it up, there seemed to be more to it, and he couldn't help growing concerned.
"Don't tell me something happened to them?"
Hoffman nodded. "We only just received word ourselves. Lord Saint Charlos cheated during the Celestial Dragon assessment, and a protest march is now being held in Pangaea Castle."
"A bunch of trash who couldn't even get two thousand points are holding a protest march?"
Lu Ye snorted disdainfully.
"If I were those old geezers, I'd just take the chance to kill them all and save myself the trouble of finding a reason later."
Hoffman and Flora both lowered their heads and said nothing. Celestial Dragons were involved, so it wasn't their place to comment.
"Come on. Let's see what this bunch of trash can accomplish."
Lu Ye led the way, with Sullivan and the Hoffman Squad following behind.
When they reached Pangaea Castle, the broad central avenue was so packed that not a drop of water could have gotten through.
Everywhere he looked were his trashy relatives with horns on their heads, all dressed in spacesuits and bubble helmets. It looked like a Mary Geoise version of Toy Story, and he could hear the clamor of voices before he even got close.
"The assessment standards are too high! They're completely beyond our abilities! We demand a new assessment!"
"Restore the Heavenly Tribute distribution system! Abolish the insulting term 'dirty blood'!"
"The supreme Celestial Dragons should uphold tradition! The commoners' methods of assessment have no place in the Holy Land..."
"Execute the cheaters! Execute Charlos! Execute Longinus!"
The deafening clamor made Lu Ye's head throb. Hearing some of them call for his execution, in particular, was enough to make him laugh with anger...
Hoffman put down his Den Den Mushi and quietly reminded him, "Lord Saint Garling instructed you to avoid killing anyone if possible. There are too many witnesses, and the Knights would have difficulty explaining it."
"Don't worry. I know where to draw the line."
Lu Ye rubbed his wrist, took two steps forward, and slapped a brown-haired female Celestial Dragon at the very back of the crowd to the ground.
Bang!
Her round breathing helmet shattered, sending glass flying.
"Aaaah!"
The ugly female Celestial Dragon clutched her glass-studded face and rolled back and forth on the ground in pain.
But just as a few Celestial Dragons nearby noticed her screams, they were drowned out by the torrent of protests.
A middle-aged Celestial Dragon with a brown beard looked down at Lu Ye, gripping a golden scepter tightly. Cold sweat beaded on his forehead, and his lips trembled wildly.
"Lon... Lon... Lon..."
"The wolf's here, idiot!"
Lu Ye snatched the scepter from the middle-aged Celestial Dragon, slung it over his shoulder like a bandit, and lightly dusted off the man's spacesuit. Tilting his head, he asked:
"Mister, the wolf's here and you're still not running. Are you always this brave?"
"Run... run... run... run!"
The middle-aged Celestial Dragon's face went deathly pale. The few Celestial Dragons beside him who recognized Lu Ye wore much the same expression. Now, as though they had heard a whistle, they scrambled and crawled past Lu Ye, fleeing for their lives.
The female Celestial Dragon with shards of glass all over her face hurried to her feet as well, covered her face, and fled with them, unwilling to stay a second longer.
"That makes things easier. These bastards really are tall..."
Lu Ye licked his lips and held the golden scepter upside down, his eyes fixed on the swaying bubble helmets in front of him.
Bang, bang, bang, bang!
"Execute me?"
"Are you going to do it?"
"Unfair?"
"Are you worthy of being treated the same as me?"
"Ugly! Cowardly!"
"Stupid! Greedy!"
"It's already an act of mercy that you trash are allowed to live!"
"Does it hurt? Have you recognized the fact that you're lowly? Scream, you filthy parasites!"
"Greed! That's an unforgivable sin!"
Lu Ye was like a cold judge, reciting his sentences as the scepter in his hand smashed one bubble helmet after another. Glass and blood sprayed everywhere, brilliant as fireworks.
One Celestial Dragon after another fell with blood covering their faces, some screaming, others before they even had time to scream. Lu Ye stepped on them as he continued forward, smashing open one bubble helmet after another.
This was a bloodstained road of Celestial Dragons!
Sullivan trembled all over.
These were gods! Descendants of the creators! Gods were screaming! Gods were bleeding!
Lowly as he was, this was the second time he had seen the blood of gods flow...
Hoffman and Flora stood at the castle gate instead of following Lu Ye farther. They couldn't step on Celestial Dragons to advance as Lu Ye did, nor could they fly over their heads.
"Help! It's the Mad King!"
"CP! Where are the CP Agents? Where are the Holy Knights? Stop him!"
"Five Elders! Come out and protect us!"
"I'm sorry, please don't hit me!"
More and more Celestial Dragons realized what was happening. The protests gradually turned into piercing screams, tearful pleas for mercy, and senseless questions...
The Celestial Dragons at the back were already fighting to escape!
Several who had been knocked unconscious earlier were about to be trampled to death.
Lu Ye took a deep breath and shouted, "Silence!"
His booming voice drowned out everything, echoing through Pangaea Castle...
The entire crowd fell silent.
Lu Ye carried the bloodstained golden scepter over his shoulder. The blood was thick, like shattered rubies.
"Now, everyone get on the ground and don't move! I'll smash the head of anyone left standing!"
Whoosh-
The crowd fell in swathes like wheat before a harvest.
The protests and pleas for mercy vanished in an instant...
Only the sounds of sobbing remained.
Lu Ye stepped along the road paved with weeping Celestial Dragons, walking slowly but steadily toward the tall white building-
The Room of Authority.
