The Mantis Stalks the Cicada, Unaware of the Oriole Behind
Obito watched Koki's retreating figure, his hand slightly raised as if trying to hold onto something, but seeing her resolute departure, he could only helplessly lower it, a hint of grievance flashing in his eyes.
He sighed softly, withdrew his gaze, and stared down at the untouched ramen in front of him, his heart filled with complex emotions.
Lin seemed somewhat confused. She couldn't understand why Koki had suddenly left. She put down her chopsticks and turned to Obito, hoping to find the answer on his face, but Obito just shook his head slightly, indicating that she didn't need to ask anymore.
After Koki left in a hurry, the atmosphere in Ichiraku Ramen Shop gradually became somewhat dull. Obito and Rin ate their ramen in silence, only exchanging a few words occasionally.
Not long after Koki's figure disappeared, a mysterious figure appeared on the street corner like a ghost.
The mysterious figure wore a loose cloak that covered his entire body completely, revealing only a pair of sharp, eagle-like eyes that vigilantly surveyed his surroundings through the gaps in his mask.
He wore an animal mask on his face, the pattern of which was fierce and mysterious, making it impossible for anyone to see his true face.
Seeing Koki leave, the mysterious man didn't hesitate for a moment, immediately taking steps and silently following Koki.
His movements were light and stealthy, like a beast lurking in the night, relentlessly pursuing its prey.
His cloak swayed gently as he moved forward, making almost no sound.
Shortly after the masked man left, the ground in the distance suddenly trembled slightly, as if something was wriggling underground.
Following closely behind was a figure that slowly rose from the crack in the ground, like a ghost possessing it, silently taking over that space.
He looked around, his gaze shifting between Obito in Ichiraku Ramen and Koki, who had just left, as if an invisible thread was pulling at his heart, weighing which was more important.
His movements were so light they were almost imperceptible, like a shadow skimming across the water without leaving a ripple.
After a long silence, he seemed to have made a decision and chose to let go of the trail of Koki.
His body then sank down, like liquid, slowly flowing into every pore of the ground until it was completely hidden in the embrace of the soil.
All of this was bizarre and swift; apart from the lingering scent of earth in the air, it all seemed like nothing more than an illusory dream.
"La la la~" As the bright sunshine streamed down her way home, a relaxed and joyful smile graced Koki's face.
He walked with the lightness of a breeze, humming a tuneless melody filled with his current joy.
His steps were light, as if each step was accompanied by a joyful rhythm.
Koki's heart was filled with plans and expectations for a bright future.
He was happy that he had successfully created a time alone for Obito and Rin, and silently prayed that Obito would seize this precious opportunity and muster the courage to confess his feelings to Rin.
He imagined their sweet conversation and the beautiful blossoming of their love, and a pleasant smile involuntarily crept onto his lips.
Then, his thoughts turned to his younger brother at home, imagining Itachi's innocent smile and looking forward to the happy times they would spend playing together.
And Kakashi, I wonder if he's still angry about his 'date' with Obito today?
Koki made up her mind that once she got home, she would explain to Kakashi why she had gone out that day and clear up his misunderstanding.
Finally, the image of Shisui appeared in his mind, imagining Shisui's busy figure in the kitchen, preparing a sumptuous feast.
Koki's stomach rumbled involuntarily. He decided that when he got home, he would definitely ask Shisui to prepare a sumptuous lunch for him to reward his stomach.
"I can't even enjoy the delicious Ichiraku Ramen," Koki grumbled, feeling wronged. He'd sacrificed so much for Obito!
Koki wandered alone deep into the lush, verdant forest, her footsteps appearing and disappearing with the twists and turns of the forest path.
He stepped into a vast expanse of sky and earth, and unconsciously slowed his pace, turning his gaze to the sky.
The weather changed so fast!
The once clear and pristine sky had lost its tranquility under the churning of dark clouds, which, like angry waves, rolled and swallowed up the last trace of blue in the sky.
The sky seemed to have been splashed with thick ink, a gloomy and heavy color, with only a few faint wisps of light appearing and disappearing through the gaps in the clouds, struggling to outline the horizon.
Under this sudden darkness, the earth lost its former glory and was covered by a deep shadow, as if stepping into a mysterious and unknown realm.
The gale, like a wild horse, raged across the forest, creating wave after wave of green waves.
The atmosphere in the forest changed abruptly because of the storm. The wind howled, and the treetops seemed to be performing a lively dance. The collision of branches and leaves produced a rapid and powerful rustling sound, like the prelude to a storm in nature's symphony.
The distant cawing of crows reached Koki's ears; it was a piercing and mournful cawing as they circled in the sky, seemingly foreshadowing something ominous.
Time passed in the howling wind. After an unknown amount of time, the once arrogant and domineering dark clouds finally began to dissipate, like the curtain on a stage slowly being drawn back, revealing the breathtakingly brilliant dawn behind them.
The sunlight, that long-bound light of freedom, finally broke free from the shackles of the gloom.
It leaps through the narrow gaps between the treetops, like golden raindrops, sprinkling drop by drop onto this sleeping earth, awakening every inch of the slumbering land, and bringing life and hope to all things.
In that instant when light and shadow intertwine, the world seems to undergo a phoenix-like rebirth.
Every tree, every inch of grass, and even every speck of dust floating in the air, radiated unprecedented vitality and brilliance under the baptism of sunlight.
Although the weather had improved, a strange and inexplicable unease welled up in Koki's heart.
This feeling was like a boulder pressing on his chest, making his breathing heavy and preventing him from easily exhaling the oppressive feeling in his chest.
Koki's intuition, his sixth sense that never deceived him, told him that something bad was about to happen. It was a keen perception of unknown danger, an instinctive warning of crisis deep within his being.
He looked around, trying to find the source of his unease, but apart from the sound of the wind and the cawing of crows, everything seemed so normal, yet it carried a hint of eeriness.
