Hearing the system notification, Jiang He kept his expression unchanged, but he was overjoyed inside.

Chapter 31: Next Time, I'll Definitely Make Him Call Me Queen!

Jiang He did not even do anything on this turn.

After drawing a card, he simply smiled "cheerfully" and said to Alexis Rhodes across from him, "Alexis, my turn is over!"

"That hateful guy...!" A vein bulged on Alexis Rhodes's forehead, and she felt her fists clench!

She wanted to punch the smiling face of the guy dueling her!

Even Alexis's two close friends and followers behind her shared her feelings, clenching their fists and gritting their teeth as they glared at Jiang He!

Who did he think he was looking down on by doing nothing?!

"My turn, draw!" Alexis Rhodes angrily drew a card from the top of her deck.

Almost at the same time, her Life Points, which had just recovered to [3000 LP], were once again affected by [Lava Golem]'s drawback effect,

and she was struck by illusory lava falling from the gigantic lava monster behind her.

With a series of beeps, they dropped by 1,000 to [2000 LP].

So he looked at the six cards in his hand.

"Kuri, Kuri."

An affectionate cry rang out from his hand once again.

Jiang He's eyes lit up.

If he let this little guy take part in the duel directly, could it speed up the Duel Monsters spirit's awakening?

"I summon [Sphere Kuriboh] in Defense Position!" Acting on the thought, Jiang He placed the card from his hand onto his Duel Disk.

"Kuri, Kuri~!"

With a flash of light, a pet Kuriboh monster, round like a brown ball, appeared on Jiang He's field.

It blinked its eyes.

[Level: 1]

[Attribute: Dark]

[Attack: 300]

[Defense: 200]

"A monster with 300 Attack Points...?!" Alexis Rhodes and her two friends behind her were all stunned.

Then they closed their eyes in unison, and the throbbing veins on their foreheads immediately grew a little larger!

Is this guy provoking us?!

"Waaah, how scary! It feels like their anger is starting to blaze...!" Jaden Yuki, Syrus Truesdale, and Chumley huddled together and retreated toward the edge of the boat.

Jiang He drew a sharp breath as well.

He suddenly realized that this seemed to have caused some kind of misunderstanding...!

The Sphere Kuriboh he had summoned also shed a drop of cold sweat in a remarkably humanlike manner.

As her words fell, the huge Lava Golem on the field and the cage surrounding the boat gradually faded away.

She had indeed found that there was no way for her to turn things around.

At the start of this turn, just before she drew, she would lose another 1,000 LP because of [Lava Golem]'s drawback effect.

That would leave her with only [1000 LP].

So, unless she could defeat Jiang He outright this turn, or destroy the [Lava Golem] on her own field herself,

she was guaranteed to lose!

Because at the start of the next turn, her remaining 1,000 LP would be completely wiped out!

But Jiang He now had the dual defense of [Celtic Guardian of Noble Arms] and a [Sphere Kuriboh] that appeared to have very low Defense Points.

With only one [Lava Golem] on her field and an unusable Equip Spell in her hand, which she had drawn the previous turn,

even with one more chance to draw, she clearly could not defeat Jiang He, who had a full [4000 LP], in a single turn.

And aside from that first way to turn things around,

the only card in her current deck that could destroy [Lava Golem] herself was a Trap Card that was being restricted by the [Royal Decree] on Jiang He's field.

There were no monsters she could Tribute Summon, nor any other possibilities.

Alexis had already decided to adjust her deck when she got back and further improve her strength!

Then she would get revenge on this infuriating guy!

Next time, I'll definitely defeat him and make him kneel and call me Queen! A flame of defiance called "a woman who holds a grudge" burned in Alexis's heart!

"Jiang He won...!" Syrus Truesdale breathed a sigh of relief, looking pleasantly surprised.

Chapter 32: Alexis Seems a Little Different

"Hey, hey, I ended my last turn right away and that was taken as a provocation. This turn, I summoned a monster, and that was taken as a provocation too. Isn't that asking a little too much of me?"

Jiang He put away his Duel Disk and spread his hands helplessly.

"The thing is, that little guy was the only one I could summon from my hand just now."

Sphere Kuriboh really had been the only monster in his hand that he could summon directly.

Though he had also planned to summon the little guy to fully awaken him sooner anyway...

Seeing Jiang He's helpless expression and hearing what amounted to an explanation, Alexis Rhodes was momentarily stunned.

As far as he was concerned, playing cards all night could not compare to going back to sleep.

He was not a hot-blooded idiot with an outrageous addiction to cards like Jaden Yuki.

"You don't have to address me so formally all the time. We've known each other for a while, at least, and you're a strong opponent I've dueled. You can call me Alexis."

Alexis Rhodes nodded to Jiang He in turn and spoke with a smile.

"See you tomorrow, then, Alexis." Jiang He did not mind what he called her at all.

As he recalled, Alexis Rhodes was the type who seemed cold on the outside but was warm on the inside.

Although she appeared aloof and had a sharp tongue, she was actually very warmhearted toward her friends and the like.

The previous night, when she had initially been unaware of the situation, she had stepped forward intending to stop his duel with Chazz Princeton.
