Yu-Gi-Oh!: Starting with a Hellish Deck, Depressing the World
Jiang He had no intention of saying anything more about that.
Instead, he kept lounging against the wall with a straw in his mouth. With his eyes half-closed, he waved at Jaden Yuki, telling him to go ahead and duel.
Even without watching, he could easily guess the outcome.
As he was now, that clown Chazz stood no chance against the hot-blooded idiot Jaden.
He wasn't even a match for his chosen opponent, Bastion Misawa...
"If I remember correctly, aren't first-year practical dueling classes supposed to have students duel within their own dorms?"
Not long after the hot-blooded idiot Jaden went down to the arena, Jiang He was lazing against the wall with his eyes half-closed.
Suddenly, he heard a familiar female voice coming from nearby, accompanied by light footsteps!
"Al... Alexis?!" Syrus exclaimed in surprise.
Jiang He opened his eyes in confusion and saw that Alexis Rhodes had arrived nearby at some point.
She folded her arms and glanced down at the duel arena in the distance, then looked at him questioningly.
Her two sidekick best friends were still following her.
"Hmph, don't get the wrong idea. We're only here to see what's going on." Alexis's two sidekick best friends were evidently still a little bothered by the "high-blood-pressure dueling experience" Jiang He had given them yesterday!
Though their attitude had clearly improved somewhat, they still spoke with a haughty little huff.
"Jaden just went to Professor Crowler himself and asked to have Chazz as his opponent."
Jiang He ignored Alexis's two little sidekicks and casually answered the question she had just asked.
"That Jaden Yuki actually chose Chazz, the top first-year in Obelisk Blue, as his opponent..." Alexis said, a little surprised.
Seeing that Jiang He didn't seem worried at all that Jaden would lose, her expression shifted.
She looked down into the distance, toward one of the six duel arenas where Jaden and Chazz stood facing each other.
Judging by this guy's expression, Jaden, who had also defeated Professor Crowler during the entrance duel test, probably...
was no ordinary duelist either.
Alexis thought to herself.
Perhaps Chazz, the top student in Obelisk Blue, is in for another bitter defeat!
Jasmine and Mindy, the two sidekicks following Alexis, were also surprised and looked down at the arena.
It was already strange enough that someone like Jiang He was in the Slifer Red dorm.
Surely there couldn't be anyone else there capable of defeating an Obelisk Blue student, could there?
Jiang He said nothing more about it.
He simply kept resting against the wall with the straw in his mouth, listening to the sounds coming from the duel arena below.
"Hmph, Jaden Yuki, you Slifer Red slacker! This is the perfect chance to finish the duel we never got to complete and settle the score!"
"I'll show you the power of Duel Academy's Obelisk Blue elite! Don't think everyone's like that guy Jiang He!"
Chazz raised his Duel Disk, which unfolded automatically, and spoke to Jaden.
"Here I come, Chazz!" Jaden likewise raised his Duel Disk, and it unfolded automatically!
"It's Mr. Chazz!" Chazz insisted on correcting him, showing his clownish side.
"Duel!"
"Duel!"
The two spoke at once, drawing five starting cards from their Duel Disk Decks.
The arena displayed their equal Life Points: [4000 LP]!
Professor Crowler, who was watching, hurried a little farther away from the arena with a sly grin.
At noon, he had paid a high price to buy up all the cards that had just arrived at the school store,
and given quite a few of the powerful rare cards to Chazz and Bastion Misawa of Ra Yellow to strengthen their Decks.
They would use them to defeat that slacker Jaden and take down one Slifer Red slacker first.
Then only slacker boy Jiang He would be left, ooh-hoo-hoo!
Professor Crowler laughed gleefully to himself.
It was as though he could already see Jiang He and Jaden defeated one after the other, their confidence shaken and their faces dejected.
"..." Jiang He's eye twitched at the sight.
He decided to find a chance to squeeze some more out of that blond mushroom-head professor...
"Kuri, kuri."
The translucent figure of a little brown Sphere Kuriboh monster spirit appeared near Jiang He and landed on his shoulder, chirping and nodding in agreement.
It was the very Sphere Kuriboh he had just awakened after dueling Alexis yesterday!
"You think so too, little guy?" Jiang He raised an eyebrow and smiled.
The little fellow had sensed the blond mushroom-head professor's little "malicious thoughts" just now and alerted Jiang He from inside his Deck, prompting him to open his eyes and look.
Now that Professor Crowler's antics had disturbed him, Jiang He continued watching the duel between Jaden and Chazz down below.
He wanted to see whether the ripples caused by a little butterfly like him had changed anything about how it played out.
Chapter 36: I'll Form the Head!
"I'll go first! Draw!"
Full of energy, Jaden drew a card from his Duel Disk Deck!
After taking a look, he immediately and decisively placed one of the cards in his hand on his Duel Disk!
"I summon Elemental HERO Clayman in Defense Position!"
With a flash of light, a bulky gray clay man soon appeared on the field in front of Jaden,
crouching with its arms crossed before it in a solid defensive stance above the horizontally placed card!

"Turn end!"
"He summoned Clayman with 2,000 defense on the first turn! That's my bro for you!" Syrus, his junior, enthusiastically celebrated on the spot.
Even Alexis and the two girls following her, Jasmine and Mindy, had no particular objection to that.
Generally speaking, a monster with 2,000 defense on the first turn could indeed withstand most attacks.
Only Jiang He looked at Jaden's back row, which had no face-down cards at all, and felt utterly unsafe.
He noted that Jaden had dared to end his turn with only one monster with 2,000 defense on the field.
Wasn't that a classic way to throw his life away?
It might not even hold up against that clown Chazz's first wave of attacks.
"Hmph, a worthless HERO Deck made up of nothing but trash! I'll show you just how incompetent you are!"
Meanwhile, Chazz immediately sneered at him.
"My turn, draw!"
"I summon V-Tiger Jet in Attack Position!"
As Chazz revealed a card, an arc of light flashed across the duel arena in front of him.
A yellow-and-blue mechanical tiger appeared, flying out with its mouth open in a roar.

"Next, I activate the Continuous Spell Frontline Base from my hand. Once per turn, I can Special Summon one Level 4 or lower monster from my hand."
Chazz placed a Spell Card from his hand into his Duel Disk, and the corresponding image of the Spell Card appeared on the field before him.
"I choose to Special Summon W-Wing Catapult in Attack Position!"
"Come out, W-Wing Catapult!"
As Chazz's voice fell, a mechanical monster resembling a blue jet wing appeared in a glow on the field before him.
"Then it fuses with V-Tiger Jet!"
The next second, the blue mechanical jet wing and the yellow-and-blue mechanical tiger performed a full-on Gundam combination on the field!
One above the other, they connected and became a single mechanical monster!
Watching them, Jiang He couldn't help thinking of a famous line.
I'll form the head, and I'll form the butt!
"Special Fusion Summon, VW-Tiger Catapult!" Chazz snickered smugly.
The combined monster, with the yellow-and-blue mechanical tiger on top and the blue mechanical jet wing beneath it, descended onto the field before Chazz in a burst of flames.

Alexis exclaimed in surprise.
She had recognized the mechanical monster's origin!
"But Chazz's previous Deck shouldn't have had this type of monster card in it."
"That means someone just gave him some rare cards before this," Jiang He said from where he leaned against the wall, not surprised in the slightest.
The translucent Sphere Kuriboh stood on his shoulder, invisible to almost everyone else, and chirped "Kuri, kuri" in agreement.
Jiang He remembered that in the original course of events, the blond mushroom-head professor seemed to have done just that to get a little revenge on the hot-blooded idiot Jaden.
