Hearing that,
"W-who's worried about that guy?!" Alexis Rhodes's expression turned a little unnatural. She immediately turned away, denying it as she looked toward the distant duel field.
She hadn't even paid close attention to what Jaden Yuki said afterward, or what he meant by Jiang He having a partner like Winged Kuriboh following him!
Jaden Yuki was left scratching his head in confusion,
with no idea why Alexis suddenly seemed a little "unhappy"...
"Alexis..." Jasmine and Mindy, her two close friends and followers, gave her increasingly strange looks.
Then they both turned their attention to the duel field below, where Jiang He stood in the distance.
Across from Jiang He, who stood wearing his Duel Disk, Bastion Misawa was already in position and eager to duel.
"It's only been a few days. I didn't expect to get a chance to duel you so soon, examinee 111... no, Jiang He!" Bastion Misawa said with a smile.
The guy had the honest, sturdy looks of the earth itself, which suited his name quite well.
His personality wasn't the somewhat gloomy type like Chazz Princeton's was now, either.
Besides, he and Jiang He had already met before.
As they spoke before the duel, there was none of the tense atmosphere that had surrounded the two hot-blooded idiots, Chazz Princeton and Jaden Yuki, during their duel just now.
But Jiang He could easily tell that Bastion Misawa was no less fired up!
"Then let's duel, four arithmetic operations... ah, no, Bastion Misawa!" Jiang He glanced at the blond, mushroom-headed professor standing to the side and placed a deck on his Duel Disk.
His earlier languor faded as he spoke, a little more interested in the duel where he was about to "spread laughter and spread love"!
"F-four arithmetic operations...?" Bastion Misawa's eye twitched, but he immediately assumed he had misheard.
Then, equally fired up, he opened his golden trench coat and reached into one of the six jacket storage pockets that looked like packs of explosives.
He took the topmost deck and placed it in his Duel Disk. "Come on! Let me see what your Exodia the Forbidden One can do!"
Chapter 40: Four Face-Down Cards to Start, Please Go Easy on Me
"..." Jiang He neither confirmed nor denied that he was using the Exodia the Forbidden One deck Bastion Misawa had mentioned. Seeing that familiar scene,
Alexis, her two close friends and followers, Jaden, Syrus Truesdale and the others all wore strange expressions.
This looked awfully familiar...
At that thought, Alexis and the others looked at the fired-up Bastion Misawa standing across from Jiang He,
and suddenly felt a little sorry for him for no particular reason...
"Oh no! I forgot to warn Bastion!"
At the edge of the field, Professor Crowler grabbed his golden mushroom hair with both hands, startled enough to nearly jump off the ground!
"Duel!"
"Duel!"
But by then, Jiang He and Bastion Misawa had already begun their duel!
They called out together and drew their starting hands of five cards from their Duel Disk decks.
Identical [4000 LP] life point displays appeared beside them in an instant!
"I'll go first. Draw!"
Bastion Misawa drew a card from the top of his Duel Disk's deck and immediately placed it on the disk to activate it.
"I activate the Spell Card [Graceful Charity] from my hand! As someone who uses an Exodia the Forbidden One deck, Jiang He, you should know this card's effect very well!"
"I draw three cards from my deck, then discard two of them!"
As he spoke, Bastion Misawa drew three more cards from the top of his deck, then discarded two cards from his hand to the graveyard.
"[Graceful Charity]? Could Bastion be using an Exodia the Forbidden One deck too?" Syrus Truesdale guessed in surprise.
At his words, Alexis Rhodes and the others couldn't help casting him speechless glances.
Why had he said "too"?
A certain someone was definitely using that utterly underworld Lava Golem deck from last night...
"Did he add [Graceful Charity] to discard the monsters he wants to the graveyard, so he can use some method to special summon them from there?"
Jiang He naturally couldn't hear the voices from the distant spectators' area, but he caught a vague glimpse from afar:
Of the two cards Bastion Misawa had just discarded to his Duel Disk's graveyard with [Graceful Charity]'s effect, the one on top seemed to depict a black dragon-shaped monster.
"Next, I summon [Oxygeddon] in attack position!" Bastion Misawa took a card from his still six-card hand and placed it on his Duel Disk.
"Roar!!"
A cyan-blue current of air burst from a faint light on the field before him, turning in an instant into a pterosaur-shaped figure made of cyan-blue gas. It let out a roar.

"I set two more cards and end my turn!" Bastion Misawa said with a confident smile.
He had his own calculations and strategies for dealing with an Exodia the Forbidden One deck.
Those two face-down cards were enough to easily interrupt the Exodia the Forbidden One deck's plays and destroy the monsters Jiang He summoned to the field!
On top of that, the rare cards he had obtained from Professor Crowler could help him quickly summon a powerful monster,
a rush strategy to immediately launch a fierce offensive against Jiang He and end the duel within two turns!
Bastion Misawa was extremely confident he had already won this duel!
Even if Jiang He wasn't using an Exodia the Forbidden One deck, his chances of winning were still quite high!
"Bring it on, Jiang He!"
Bastion Misawa spoke to Jiang He confidently.

After glancing at the card he had drawn, Jiang He's lips curled slightly into a pleased smile.
"That Ra Yellow student, Bastion Misawa, looks like he's in for some bad luck..." Alexis Rhodes said with a subtle look, having noticed the familiar expression from afar as she folded her arms.
Her two followers beside her, as well as Jaden Yuki, Syrus Truesdale and the others nearby, all nodded in agreement.
They knew that expression of Jiang He's all too well...
"I set a monster in face-down defense position, then set three cards and end my turn!"
Jiang He placed four cards from his hand face down on his Duel Disk, one after another.
Four enormous card images appeared on the field before him: one horizontal and three vertical.

What monster had he set in face-down position?
And those three set traps made it look somewhat unlike an Exodia the Forbidden One deck.
The many Duel Academy students in the spectators' area were also left somewhat bewildered.
Four face-down cards to start? Was he making people play a guessing game?
"Whatever deck it is, I'm going in! My turn, draw!" Bastion Misawa said, quickly and forcefully drawing a card from his Duel Disk's deck!
"I summon [Hydrogeddon] in attack position!"
"Roar!!"
As a card was placed on the Duel Disk, beside Oxygeddon on the field before Bastion Misawa,
a brown current of air burst from a faint light and formed the figure of a four-legged beast crouching on the ground.
[Hydrogeddon] [Level: 4] [Attribute: water] [ATK: 1600] [DEF: 1000]
"Next, I activate the Equip Spell Card [Top Hat of Survival] from my hand!" Bastion Misawa took one of his three remaining cards and displayed it!
"With this card, I can select and equip it to one monster in my graveyard, lower its attack by 1000, seal its effect, and then special summon it to my field!"
"I choose the monster I discarded to the graveyard last turn with the effect of [Graceful Charity]: another [Hydrogeddon]!"
"Come back, [Hydrogeddon]!"
At Bastion Misawa's words, a faint light shone from the graveyard on his Duel Disk.
Another brown current of air soon burst onto the field before him, forming a second brown, four-legged monster crouching on the ground!
"One Oxygeddon and two Hydrogeddon. Are you going to special summon that monster?" Jiang He immediately saw what Bastion Misawa was aiming for.
But after glancing at the three face-down cards on his field, his expression grew even more "sunny"!
Chapter 41: There's One More. Surprised?
"I activate the Spell Card [Bonding - H2O]."
After seeing that he had assembled two [Hydrogeddon] and one [Oxygeddon] on his field, Bastion Misawa smiled as well.
He took another Spell Card from his two remaining cards and activated it!
"This card's effect lets me tribute two [Hydrogeddon] and one [Oxygeddon] on my field to special summon one [Water Dragon] from my hand, deck, or graveyard!"
"Two hydrogen and one oxygen make water. Come out, [Water Dragon]!"
"Roar!!"
As Bastion Misawa finished speaking, the two brown air-current monsters and the one monster formed from a cyan-blue current before him
instantly converged in a vortex beneath the light of the Spell Card.
The cyan, blue, and brown currents spun rapidly, soon forming an enormous Water Dragon monster made entirely of flowing water.
It appeared on the field before Bastion Misawa!
