Meeting Jinhsi
The next afternoon, outside the hotel arranged for the delegation from Jinzhou by the Order order, Kexi squatted at the entrance of the alley across the street, his hood pulled low, holding a glass of juice he had bought from a roadside stall, pretending to sunbathe.
Two rows of Order Echo guard at the hotel's main entrance, while a squad of Midnight Rangers patrolled back and forth at the side entrance. Even two monks were squatting next to the trash cans in the back alley.
Selina has been inside for almost twenty minutes and hasn't come out yet.
Kexi was wondering whether he should buy another glass of juice when he saw Selina walk quickly out of the hotel's side door and head straight for him.
"How's it going?"
Baizhi was holding Sanhua back inside, saying she needed to change the medicine for the Magistrate Jin and asked Sanhua to fetch a newly arrived herb. Sanhua refused to leave, Baizhi said the herb needed to be ground fresh, otherwise its efficacy would be lost.
Selina spoke quickly, but every word was clear. "Sanhua hesitated for a moment, but still went. It'll take at least half an hour round trip."
Kexi clicked her tongue. "Baizhi looks honest, but she can make up a whole bunch of lies."
"But how am I supposed to get in?" He gestured with his chin toward the hotel's main entrance. "Those Echo and Midnight Rangers aren't just for show; I can't just walk right in."
"Young master, I have a plan."
Selina took two steps back into the alley, made sure no one was around, and then raised her hand to beckon.
The cello appeared out of thin air in her arms, the bow was placed on the strings, and she gently pulled it.
A portal of light split open in the air, its edges shimmering with a pale blue halo. Nothing could be seen inside; only tiny specks of light floated within.
Kexi's eyes widened. "This is... a portal?"
"Yes, young master."
"Wow, you're amazing! You had that trick up your sleeve." Kexi circled the portal and exclaimed in admiration.
"Young master, have you forgotten? I'm an all-rounder." Selina put away her harp, stood beside the portal, and slightly raised her chin.
"Haha, well done! I love you so much, Selina!"
Selina's breathing quickened.
Yes, that's it.
Make the young master feel that she is the most useful person, make him used to having her do everything, and make him unable to live without her.
What if one day she suddenly disappears?
The young master will feel uncomfortable and devastated to discover that his life is now filled with the shadow of Selina.
He would feel empty and uncomfortable. Even if he tried to find someone else to replace her, he would only find that the replacement was so useless and could not compare to her at all.
At that time, the young master will definitely search for her like a madman, inquiring about her whereabouts.
Ah~
She covered her slightly flushed cheeks, the sickly look in her eyes finally showing, and watched Kexi's retreating figure as she walked towards the portal, a slight smile curving her lips.
Kexi stepped into the portal of light, his vision brightened for a moment, and the next second he found himself standing in an unfamiliar room.
The room was small and simply furnished. Several medical books were spread out on the table, and a wicker box containing medicinal herbs stood in the corner.
The terminal vibrated.
Selina's voice rang out. "Young Master, this is Baizhi's room. Go out and turn right, walk to the end of the corridor and turn left, then walk twenty steps. The third room on your right is Magistrate Jin's room. Changli lives next door, so please keep your footsteps quiet when you pass by."
"Okay, Selina."
Kexi gave an OK sign, opened the door, and poked half her head out.
There was no one in the corridor for the time being, so he squeezed out to the side and walked quickly forward along the wall.
He deliberately walked quietly as Changli the room.
He quickly arrived at Jinhsi's door as instructed by Selina.
Kexi stood at the door, took a deep breath, and gently pushed the door open.
Jinhsi lay on the hospital bed, the blanket pulled up to her chest, an IV tube inserted into her wrist, her face pale.
With her eyes closed, she heard the door open and assumed it was Sanhua returning. Without opening her eyes, she asked, "Sanhua, why are you back so soon?"
Kexi walked to the bedside, looked down at her, and lowered her voice. "Jinhsi, it's me."
I heard this sound.
Jinhsi's eyes snapped open.
She stared at Kexi's face, which peeked out from under the hood, and was slightly surprised. "You... you dare to come here?"
"Keep your voice down, keep your voice down." Kexi quickly made a gesture to lower her voice. "Don't get excited. Your injuries haven't healed yet. If anything happens to you, I'll be dead."
Jinhsi stared at him for several seconds, as if trying to confirm whether the person in front of her was real or a fake.
She leaned closer to the headboard, a hint of amusement flashing in her eyes. "Do you know how many people are out there trying to catch you?"
"I know, the wanted posters are plastered all over the place." Kexi sat down on the chair by the bed and leaned forward. "Jinhsi, listen to me. The person who stabbed you that day wasn't me, it was a fake made by Christopher. Those guys from the Fractsidus made a fake that looks exactly like me, impersonated me to kill you, just to frame me. That day, Christopher locked me in the script world, and when I tore that thing apart and came out, you were already lying on the ground. I didn't even touch a single hair on your head."
Jinhsi looked at him, her expression calm and unwavering.
Kexi took a deep breath and continued, "I know you don't believe me, but think about it, why would I kill you? What good would it do me? What would I gain? That the Order put me on the wanted list? That your master would chase me down with a knife? Am I out of my mind?"
Jinhsi remained silent.
"And another thing," Kexi leaned forward again, her voice tinged with urgency, "You saw that fake with your own eyes. Think carefully, isn't there anything wrong with it? You're so smart, you can definitely tell the difference."
Jinhsi looked at him for several seconds, then suddenly curved her lips into a smile and uttered a few words softly, "I know."
Kexi was taken aback. "You know?"
"Yes." Jinhsi nodded gently. "I knew that person wasn't you. I knew it the moment he made his move."
Kexi felt as if a huge weight had been lifted from her chest; her shoulders slumped, and she let out a long sigh, "That's great! Then you should quickly talk to Sanhua and Changli and get them to withdraw the arrest warrant. I've been hiding these past two days, I haven't been able to sleep well, I haven't been able to eat well either—"
"Impossible."
Kexi's mouth was still open, the rest of his words stuck in his throat. He blinked, thinking he had misheard, "What?"
Jinhsi leaned against the headboard, the faint smile still on her face, but there was something new in her eyes that sent a chill down Kexi's spine.
"The arrest warrant cannot be withdrawn," Jinhsi said.
"Why?!" Kexi almost cried out, but quickly suppressed her voice, though the shock in her tone remained undiminished. "Didn't you know I wasn't the murderer? Then why are you issuing a warrant for my arrest?"
In the next room, Changli frowned upon hearing voices from the other room.
She pushed open the door, walked to Jinhsi's room, and was about to push it open again.
I heard a familiar male voice coming from inside.
Changli's fingers paused on the doorknob.
She did not push the door open.
Seeing his shocked expression, Jinhsi smiled slightly and continued.
"Don't you understand? Because... I want you."
