Travel · Guangzhou Arc (Twelve): Delivery Girl Xixi Is in Position
The next morning.
The weather was a bit uncooperative today; a light drizzle fell from the sky, soaking the clothes of passersby.
Amidst the continuous drizzle, Jinhsi and Changli each carried a food box as they arrived at the hotel where Xiao Ling and his group were staying.
As for why they suddenly came to visit with a food box, we have to go back to yesterday before they left.
"Young Master Xiao, is there any food near your current residence?" Jinhsi asked softly before parting ways at the alley entrance.
"Hmm... If you're talking about the nearest breakfast shop, it might be a bit of a walk, right? What's wrong?" Xiao Ling replied truthfully.
"If you don't mind, I'd like to send you some homemade breakfast. I wonder if that would be too much of a bother?"
"Of course, but we have quite a few people," Xiao Ling gently reminded them, "Can you manage all of this by yourself?"
"It's alright. Running a breakfast stall also required me to get up early and work late, but it was much easier than handling official business within the Jinzhou."
Back to the present.
"Jinhsi, you seem a little nervous?" Changli asked in a light tone when he saw Jinhsi's clenched hands.
"Hmm... I am a little nervous. After all, I've only communicated with Ling's friends Feixin before, and this is the first time we've met in person," Jinhsi readily admitted, though her tone betrayed a hint of insecurity. "I don't know if they'll like my cooking..."
"Hasn't your skill already been recognized by the neighbors here?" Changli chuckled. "I think they'll definitely like it."
Jinhsi nodded, and with a slightly uneasy expression, she and Changli walked towards the hotel elevator to deliver the food upstairs.
Nine floors.
It's eight o'clock in the morning, and there are very few pedestrians in the corridor. Occasionally, one or two travelers will linger their gaze on the master and apprentice for a few more seconds.
"905...905, ah, here it is!"
Jinhsi and Changli quickly found room 905. Xixi walked forward slowly and pressed the doorbell.
With a click, the door opened, and what came into Xixi's view was Roccia wearing a dark purple nightgown. The huge treasure chest in front of her made Changli next to her, feel a little threatened.
"Sorry to bother you?" Jinhsi asked somewhat awkwardly.
"Why are you so reserved, Miss Jinhsi? I should be thanking you for making the special trip to bring us breakfast," Roccia a charming smile.
"Oh right, breakfast." Jinhsi divided the food box she was carrying into two portions and handed them to Roccia. "This is for you and your roommate. Hope you like it."
"Hmm~ It smells delicious, I think it will taste great. Thank you for your hard work."
"It's no trouble at all, I'm just glad you're enjoying your meal."
After saying goodbye to Roccia, the two went to the next room.
Fortunately, the hotel arranged for the girls to stay in adjacent rooms; otherwise, it would have been even more troublesome to get around.
Room 906.
"Oh my, Sister Lingyin, I thought I wouldn't have a chance to eat your little dragon buns!" Mia was very happy about Jinhsi's arrival.
"You seem to be sweating a lot?" Jinhsi asked, puzzled. "Is the air conditioning in the room not working properly?"
"No, that's not it. We were just having a competition," Lupa explained, leaning closer. "By the way, Mia, you seem to have a particular fondness for Xixi's little dragon buns, don't you?"
"Because they're really delicious! Every time she brings me xiaolongbao (soup dumplings), I have to fight with Chixia for them," Mia said sincerely.
"Are you settling in well here?" Changli asked. "Baizhi was worried you wouldn't be used to the new environment."
"Hmm... to be honest, it feels more comfortable than staying at the clinic, because there I had to share a bed with Chixia." Mia stuck out her tongue, "But now I can have the whole big bed to myself!"
Changli nodded gently. Since Mia is happy here, that's good.
After saying goodbye to Mia and Lupa, Jinhsi and Changli arrived at room 907.
"Oh, you actually delivered it?" Iuno was slightly surprised. "You went to so much trouble to prepare it, it must have cost a lot. I'm not going to eat for nothing, so tell me, how much is it per meal?"
"There's no need, Miss Iuno." Jinhsi smiled sweetly. "This is just a small token of my appreciation. As long as you enjoy the breakfast I made, that's the best way to repay me."
"I thought someone in such a high position, so busy with affairs of state, might be a bit rough around the edges when it comes to cooking, but I didn't expect you to be so skilled," Augusta said with a smile. "Looks like we're in for a treat today."
After a brief but pleasant exchange, the conversation between the four ended with Iuno and Augusta promising to be available whenever needed.
Room 908 was occupied by Lynae, Chisa, and Morning. Their beds were the same as Suisui's room. The three of them mostly acted rather than talked. After getting their meals, they exchanged a few pleasantries with Jinhsi Changli, and finally thanked the two of them sincerely before saying goodbye and returning to their room to enjoy breakfast.
Room 909.
"Ding-dong~" Jinhsi rang the doorbell.
The door clicked open, and the person standing behind it startled both Jinhsi and Changli.
"Rover?" Jinhsi asked in confusion.
"It's strange, isn't it? You're probably wondering why there's a female Rover at the same time as a male Rover." The Rover said with a smirk, "Actually, I'm looking for the reason myself."
"That's getting interesting," Changli said with a squinting smile. "But before we delve into this, how about we have a hot breakfast first?"
"Thank you," the Rover said softly as he accepted the breakfast Changli handed him.
"Hmm...? A-Piao, who's outside..." came Aemeath's soft, slightly nasal voice from inside the room.
"Sorry, you'll have to ask that guy for details. I must take my leave now." The Rover chuckled as he took his leave.
With a click, the door closed again.
"A male Rover and a female Rover?" Changli pondered. "Jinhsi, do you have any clues?"
"I do have a guess, but it might be a bit unrealistic," Jinhsi said earnestly.
"The fact that we even exist in this world is the most unrealistic thing, but feel free to say it."
"Hmm... Master, have you ever heard of the theory of parallel universes?"
"I know a little bit about it. To sum it up, it means there are multiple independent spacetimes and universes. Hmm... that seems somewhat similar to our current situation?"
"Yes, I think that female Rover, like us, also traveled from a separate parallel universe."
"That explanation makes sense, but now is not the time to discuss it. After all, some of the little ones haven't had breakfast yet."
"Yes, that's true."
The situation was similar for Tsubaki and Encore, the Shorekeeper of room 910, and Lynae and Chisa, in room 908. They exchanged a few pleasantries and then took their meals back to their rooms to enjoy. Perhaps because Encore was still asleep, none of them wanted to wake the little princess.
Room 911.
"Wow~ Sister Jinhsi is such a good cook! Can you teach me sometime?" Cartethyia asked sweetly, looking at the delicious-looking steamed buns in the lunchbox.
"Of course, if Miss Cart wants to learn, I will teach her everything I know." Jinhsi nodded with a smile.
"Um, can I too?" Phoebe peeked out from behind Cartethyia and blinked.
"Miss Phoebe is welcome to come, of course. Teaching one is the same as teaching two. There's an old saying in Huanglong: 'Among three people walking together, there must be one who can teach me.' Perhaps the three of you can spark new inspiration while learning cooking skills," Changli with a light laugh.
"Then it's settled! When you have the chance, Sister Jinhsi must teach me properly!" Cartethyia said with a cute smile.
"Of course it's possible," Jinhsi nodded slightly.
After saying goodbye to Cart and the other person, there was still one last room on the entire ninth floor that hadn't been delivered.
Room 912.
This time, Jinhsi didn't ring the doorbell or knock; instead, she took out her phone and sent a message.
"Wouldn't it be more convenient to ring the doorbell?" Changli asked, puzzled.
"That's what Sigrika requested. She said to text her when she gets to the door, and not to ring the doorbell," Jinhsi replied.
A moment later, a slightly hurried sound of footsteps came from behind the door, followed by the sound of the door being opened.
"Sorry to keep you waiting!" Sigrika chuckled softly. "Yaya is still sleeping, which is why I told you not to ring the doorbell yet."
"It's alright, here's your meal." Jinhsi handed the last breakfast to Sigrika.
"It's still hot! Thank you, you've really gone to a lot of trouble. I'll pay now..."
"No need, Miss Sigrika," Changli said gently. "These breakfasts are all Jinhsi's thoughtful gift; it would be beneath her to measure them in monetary terms."
"Oh... I'm sorry." Sigrika nodded, then smiled and promised, "If you need any help, Jinhsi- neechan, just let me know!"
"Yes, I'll keep it in mind," Jinhsi said with a light laugh.
After delivering breakfast to room 912, all the other guests on the ninth floor received their breakfasts, Jinhsi felt a great sense of accomplishment.
"Shouldn't we go upstairs now?" Changli teased with a smile, "To see the person you really want to see."
"Yes, that's right." Jinhsi said with a bright smile.
She stepped into the elevator with anticipation, pressed the button for the tenth floor, her knuckles were a little pale as she gripped the lunchbox, and her face flushed slightly with nervousness and excitement.
But... what awaits Xixi ahead—a pleasant surprise or a shock?
