Journey: Hangzhou Arc (10): The Dragon and Phoenix Master and Disciple Arrive
"This must be the house." Jinhsi looked at the mansion in front of her and confirmed it by comparing it with the photo.
Before leaving Guangzhou, Xiao Ling extended an invitation to them to travel together, and in the end, only she and Changli accepted the invitation.
Baizhi's clinic still needs her to manage, and Chixia also wants to stay and help out, while Zhezhi simply doesn't want to come. For her, this kind of communal living is a bigger challenge, and she feels more comfortable and at ease living alone.
"Let's knock on the door and see if anyone's home," Jinhsi, dragging her luggage forward and preparing to knock on the mansion's door.
"No need for that trouble, Jinhsi."
Changli smiled gently, then calmly walked to the right side of the gate and pressed the doorbell.
"Ah... there's a doorbell..." Jinhsi blinked her eyes innocently.
After a moment, the door was pulled open from the inside.
"Oh? It's Sister Jinhsi!" Sigrika beamed with joy upon seeing Jinhsi. "You must be tired from your journey. Give me your luggage, I'll carry it for you!"
Jinhsi originally wanted to say that she could carry it in herself, but Sigrika was too enthusiastic, so her luggage ended up in Sigrika's hands.
"That's quite a lot! What did you bring?"
"Some changes of clothes and toiletries, as well as homemade xiaolongbao (small steamed buns)."
"Little dragon buns! Sister Jinhsi's little dragon buns are so delicious, I've been craving them for so long!"
"Since Sigrika likes it, there will be plenty of opportunities to eat it in the future."
Little Ai took Changli's luggage and said with a smile, "We specially reserved a room for the two of you. Why don't you go up and take a look, and drop off your luggage while you're at it?"
"Okay," Changli nodded.
"Speaking of which, Sigrika, you don't look too well," Jinhsi noticed the faint dark circles under Sigrika's eyes and asked with concern.
"Ah... is that so... hahaha... I just didn't sleep very well last night..." Sigrika paused for a moment, then laughed it off and changed the subject.
The four of them walked from the entrance hall to the living room, but Jinhsi found that it wasn't as lively as she had imagined.
"Strange? There seem to be very few people in the living room?" she asked, looking at the few scattered people in the living room.
"Hmm? Both the Prime Minister and Changli are here Magistrate Jin?" Suisui, who was lounging on the sofa, immediately got up to greet them upon their arrival. "It's normal that there aren't many people. Last night, Brother Ling insisted on putting on a show in the middle of the night, keeping everyone awake until late. There are still quite a few people who haven't gotten up yet."
"A farce? What did Young Master Xiao do?"
"That's how it is..."
He recounted the events of the night to the master and disciple, a pair of dragons and phoenixes.
"He really gave you guys a hard time," Changli teased.
"Hoo~ Yeah... I'm still a little sleepy. If I weren't so hungry, I probably could sleep until dinner." Suisui yawned.
"Then where is Young Master Xiao now...?" Jinhsi asked about Xiao Ling's whereabouts.
"She went out with the Shorekeeper, and now Yangyang is cooking in the kitchen."
"I'll go help," Jinhsi said, heading towards the kitchen.
"That's not appropriate, Miss Jinhsi."
Roccia came out of the kitchen carrying a plate of hot stir-fried green peppers and pork. She nodded to Jinhsi and Changli when they arrived at the mansion.
"You two have traveled a long way to get here, how can we let you worry about food? Go upstairs and rest for a while, the food will be ready soon."
"Thank you for your help, Miss Roccia," Jinhsi said with a smile.
"Thank you all for your help." Changli nodded.
After temporarily bidding farewell to everyone in the living room, Jinhsi and Changli followed Sigrika and Aemeath upstairs.
"Ta-da! Your room is right here!"
Aemeath pointed to the innermost room on the left side of the second floor, where a dragon and a phoenix were carved.
"What a thoughtful design," Changli said with a smile.
"It's not just here, you know. Each of our rooms has this sign on the door." Aemeath pointed to a few more rooms, "The first one on the left is my and Lynae's room; it has big pictures of us hanging up."
"Little Ai, keep your voice down, some people are still asleep!" Sigrika nudged Aemeath and whispered a reminder.
"Oh, oh, oh!" Aemeath immediately lowered her voice, "Let me show you around the room first."
Jinhsi and Changli nodded and followed the two people walking in front into the room.
"Hmm, what's on the bed?"
As soon as she entered the room, Jinhsi saw a gift box on her bed and picked it up out of curiosity.
"Ah, these are the new clothes A-Yu gave us; we each got one," Aemeath said with a beaming smile. "Our mission is complete! You two can explore on your own now. We'll call you when dinner is ready."
"Thank you for your hard work," Changli said with a slight smile.
"No need to be so formal, we're all family now anyway." Aemeath waved with a smile, "Then let's go."
After the two left, Jinhsi couldn't wait to open the gift box on her bed.
"This is..." Her eyes lit up.
This outfit, without a doubt, is the gorgeous gown she specially changed into for the New Year's ceremony.
The people here gave her magnificent dress a poetic name.
The peach tree is young and tender, its blossoms are bright and beautiful, hence the name "Peach Blossom".
"The workmanship is exquisite." Changli leaned closer, looking at the gorgeous outfit in Jinhsi's hands, and smiled in approval. "He must have put a lot of effort into this."
"I really like this gift." Jinhsi's gentle voice was filled with an irrepressible smile. "Master, what kind of clothes do you wear?"
"I choose to keep it a secret." Changli made a shushing gesture.
"Hey~ Master has seen Xixi's new clothes, now Xixi wants to see your new clothes too!"
"Then you can think about it."
"Well, there's nothing we can do about that then..."
To satisfy her curiosity, Jinhsi secretly used her Resonance Ability, which briefly affected Changli. Taking advantage of this moment, she secretly bypassed Changli and obtained the new dress that belonged to her.
"Let me see..."
Jinhsi opened it with great anticipation and found the Golden Legend inside.
There was actually nothing there.
(The devil is always one step ahead of the saint; your master is still your master.)
"Master, did you hide your new clothes?" Jinxi Jinhsi guessed that Changli had hidden her new clothes in advance.
"Perhaps there was nothing in this gift box to begin with?" Changli asked jokingly.
"I don't care, Master insists I see your new clothes today!"
"If you can catch me, I'll let you see me," Changli said provocatively with a smirk.
"Excuse me!" Jinhsi immediately sprang into action.
So, the two of them, one big and one small, started playing a two-person skit in the small room, and they seemed to be having a great time.
But there's nothing wrong with that. After all, it's only in situations where they won't be discovered by others that they can interact with each other in a more intimate and childlike way. This can be considered one of the gains they've made in this otherworldly adventure.
