Moving House and a Cute, Cold-Faced JK
Ten days later.
"Where the heck did you bring me? Are we even still in China?"
Xiao Ling stared at the detached villa before him, his face turning into Liu Haizhu's. Wait, I said I wanted a bigger place. I didn't say to get me a whole villa!
Damn rich people... No, wait, he's my relative. Never mind, then. The great hand of capital is so warm.
Xiao Ling turned to look at Dania. Today she wore a light pink short-sleeved shirt under a thin white gauze top, with light blue denim shorts and black sandals. Her two food-grade beautiful legs were exposed, making for a rather eye-catching sight.
"This house... isn't it a little too big...?" Dania stared blankly at the huge villa before them.
She had thought they would have a little more space at most, enough for both of them to have a bed. But this was a bit too extravagant...
She had thought Xiao Ling had already spent enough on her, but now she suddenly felt those expenses might not even amount to a fraction of the villa's price.
"Is this house really ours?" Dania asked Xiao Ling again.
"In theory... yes." Xiao Ling nodded.
He had just checked: the villa's price was approaching eight figures. His eldest uncle was a decisive man. He said he would buy it, and he did.
"Then the beds inside must be really comfortable, right?" Dania looked at the imposing house, but her attention was on how comfortable the beds were.
"Want to try one out at noon?" Xiao Ling teased.
"Sure," Dania replied. Then she naturally took Xiao Ling's hand. "Let's go in and see our new home."
The villa was luxuriously furnished and had just about everything: entertainment facilities, a swimming pool, a dining room, and plenty of separate rooms. Its only drawback was probably its remote location, but Xiao Ling and Dania could overlook that entirely.
The villa was built on the outskirts of the city, where there weren't many people and the surroundings were pleasant. Perhaps when they woke in the morning, they might even hear birds perched on the branches singing?
But Dania clearly wasn't interested in anything else. She ran upstairs with a patter of footsteps and began checking the comfort of every bed, room by room.
The sudden weight sent the pristine white velvet quilt sinking down. Dania buried her head in the bedding and felt her whole body turn soft.
"If you fall asleep now, you won't get any lunch, you know?" Xiao Ling watched in amusement as the velvet bed held her captive.
"It's so comfortable... I don't want to get up..." Dania's muffled voice came from beneath the covers.
Xiao Ling shook his head helplessly and let her continue lounging in bed while he took another look around the rest of the villa.
About half an hour later.
"This villa really is nice. The furniture's pretty complete, but I still need to buy drinks, fruit, vegetables, and some appliances myself."
Sitting on the sofa, Xiao Ling began making a list of things to buy in his phone's notes app.
The moving company had already packed up his belongings and left them on the villa's first floor, along with the things Dania had just bought.
"Come to think of it, this villa is huge. Cleaning it will definitely be a pain..." Xiao Ling remarked. "If only Little Sister Mo were here. She might be able to tinker together some gadgets to take care of the housework."
Professor Morning was quite an authority on mechanical engineering. If she could lead the engineering for the Solaris Ritual and the manufacture of the Artificial Core, making a few little robots should be no trouble for her.
"Ah, there I go daydreaming again. Dania alone is enough to keep me busy. If a few more showed up, wouldn't everything blow up?" Xiao Ling patted his pig brain.
If Morning and the others came over too, how would I explain it to my family? Tell them they're all my 2D wives? They'd definitely break both my legs, wouldn't they?!
"Anyway, I'd better start unpacking."
With that, Xiao Ling got to work, heaving the bags of luggage upstairs. He first left Dania's things outside the room she was in, then carried all his own belongings into the room at the far end.
Another hour passed...
With a beep, the computer successfully booted up, officially bringing Xiao Ling's unpacking to an end. He checked the time again and saw it was almost noon.
"Oh, it's noon. I'll order some takeout."
Xiao Ling opened a takeout app and picked a restaurant that suited both his and Dania's tastes. After choosing a few dishes, he checked out immediately.
He had to admit, takeout delivery really was fast. Less than half an hour later, his doorbell rang.
Xiao Ling strode to the entryway and pulled open the front door. He took the still-warm food from the delivery worker, thanked him sincerely, and slipped him a tip before carrying the food back to the living room.
Dania hadn't come out to ask about all the noise just now, so she was probably sleeping soundly.
After rolling his eyes around, Xiao Ling came up with an effective way to wake the little sleepyhead.
He carried the sweet-and-sour pork he had just ordered to Dania's door and slipped quietly into the room.
Sure enough, the little sleepyhead had curled up in the covers and fallen asleep without even taking off her shoes.
He picked up a piece of sweet-and-sour pork with his chopsticks and slowly brought it close to Dania.
"...Hmm...?"
The little glutton in Dania triumphed over the little sleepyhead, forcibly waking her from her slumber.
"Haaah..." Dania stretched lazily and yawned. With quick eyes and hands, Xiao Ling popped a piece of sweet-and-sour pork into her mouth.
"Mmph?!"
Dania stared in bewilderment at Xiao Ling, who had suddenly appeared before her. The sweet-and-sour flavor bursting across her tongue instantly washed away her grogginess.
"Is it good?" Xiao Ling asked with a smile.
"It's good, just a little hot," Dania answered honestly as she chewed the sweet-and-sour pork.
"Then can we eat now?"
"Eat!"
Two in the afternoon.
After checking to make sure he hadn't forgotten anything, Xiao Ling left the villa.
Once Dania had eaten her fill, the little sleepyhead had gained the upper hand again. Before long, she had retreated to her room to sleep, without even giving Xiao Ling a chance to invite her out that afternoon.
In a new location, the navigation app he hadn't used in a long time came in handy again. Xiao Ling used it to find the nearest department store, planning to stock up on some daily necessities first.
After several subway stops, Xiao Ling finally followed the directions to the entrance of the department store.
He pulled out a shopping cart with practiced ease and began looking around the store for what he needed.
About half an hour later, after sweeping through the produce and meat sections, Xiao Ling finally arrived at his next stop: the condiments section.
The shelves were packed with a dazzling array of seasonings. Leaving aside Chinese cooking staples like MSG, salt, and light soy sauce, there were also olive oil and white sauce for Western cooking, as well as miso and wasabi for Japanese cuisine. There were too many kinds to count.
But that wasn't what held Xiao Ling's attention. He was focused entirely on the beautiful girl ahead of him, who was picking out seasonings.
Although he could only see her profile, her wine-red eyes, classic long, straight black hair, and unmistakable black JK uniform were more than enough to identify her.
Am I seeing things? Chisa? What's she doing here? Xiao Ling had a bad feeling. Could his daydreams actually be real?
At that moment, the beautiful girl who looked just like Chisa was studying the MSG and chicken bouillon in her hands, her brows slightly furrowed as she seemed to weigh which one to pick.
Partly out of kindness and partly to confirm his suspicion, Xiao Ling decided to offer her some advice.
And so, he walked steadily toward the girl.
Miss Kuchiba Chisa was rarely troubled, but she was now.
The power of Unbound Strings could help her break out of a deadlock, but it couldn't help her tell whether chicken bouillon or MSG was better for cooking.
Japanese and Chinese cuisine were quite different. As a native of Ashihara, Chisa was adept at Japanese cooking, but she was a complete blank when it came to Chinese food.
After suddenly being transported to this world, she had been trying to embrace its new things, including its eating habits, while searching for a way back.
Ever since this girl had first tried Chinese food, she had been hooked. Recently, she had been studying how to make a delicious Chinese dish.
"Which one should I choose...?" Chisa muttered.
"MSG brings out the ingredients' own umami, while chicken bouillon adds a distinct flavor to the dish. Which one you choose depends on what you're making."
A familiar male voice came from her left. Chisa looked to her side and saw a very familiar profile.
"Sen-!" Excited, Chisa instinctively started to call out, but then remembered they were in public and quickly stopped herself.
"What a coincidence, Chisa. You're here too." Xiao Ling was certain now. This was Chisa herself.
If that was the case, then Dania probably wasn't the only one. The other Wuthering Waves characters had very likely crossed over too.
"Are you here to pick out seasonings too, Senpai?" Chisa asked.
"I just moved, so I need to buy some seasonings to cook at home," Xiao Ling replied. "Takeout is convenient, but food you cook yourself tastes more like home, doesn't it?"
Chisa nodded in agreement.
"By the way, were there any others besides you who were suddenly transported here?"
Xiao Ling felt that, since their arrival in the real world was already an established fact, his main task now was to ensure their safety in this world.
"Yes, Senpai. I'm living with the other students right now," Chisa answered truthfully.
"Who's there?"
"Aemeath, Lynae, and Sigrika."
Well, damn, the Star Torch Academy student group is all here, huh?
"Then where are you living?" Xiao Ling asked, puzzled. He hadn't been there with them, so how had they found a place to stay?
"A kind old lady took us in. The house isn't very big, but there's room for all of us," Chisa replied. "As for expenses, Lynae works part-time delivering food, Sigrika earns an hourly wage as a zoo guide, and Aemeath discovered livestreaming in this world. I think it's called... being a vtuber."
Wait, how can people without registered identities work part-time and livestream? Xiao Ling wondered inwardly.
"It's Aemeath's ability... In theory, she can interfere with anything involving data..." Chisa seemed to understand Xiao Ling's concern and explained.
All right, advanced technology isn't necessarily all good, Xiao Ling thought, a little embarrassed.
"By the way, do you have phones now? Let's exchange contact information. I'll come find you later."
Xiao Ling decided he should bring this group of girls to his home first. Otherwise, things would be somewhat difficult.
After all, it was better for everyone to be together.
"Senpai, is that all right? Wouldn't we be troubling you?"
Chisa had some reservations. According to Aemeath's speculation, the Senpai of this world wasn't some all-powerful hero. He might just be an ordinary person struggling through life.
"I have a little money to my name," Xiao Ling said, calmly putting her concerns to rest.
"Then... shall we exchange contact information first?" Chisa took out her phone. "I need to ask the others what they think. If they agree, I'll contact you, Senpai."
"Okay."
After exchanging contact information, Xiao Ling said goodbye to Chisa for the time being and continued his shopping trip.
He had now accepted this somewhat absurd fact. What he needed to consider was how to explain it to his family.
If they learned he had brought home several more beautiful girls as gorgeous as Dania, they probably really would break both his legs.
In any case, he would take it one step at a time. There was still a long way to go.
