Upbringing and Engagement

Wang Dong'er spent part of her childhood in the Divine Realm as Tang Wutong, the “Little Demoness of the Divine Realm.” After recovering those memories with Xu Xingyu's help, she regarded that willful, father-dependent childhood as her past rather than the identity that should determine her future 357 358.

She grew up without her biological parents beside her and was raised under Da Ming and Er Ming's care. Her engagement to Xu Xingyu was initially forced, and the two were not particularly close at first. Time together changed her feelings: she came to love him and regard the engagement as a blessing 13 21 185.

Xu Xingyu discovered and removed something her father had placed in her mind that could allow him to control her body. Learning about this interference damaged her trust in her family, particularly when Da Ming and Er Ming continued avoiding her questions about her father's identity 86.

Shrek Academy

Wang Dong'er disguised herself as a boy to share Xu Xingyu's dormitory and discourage additional romantic rivals. Her disguise initially convinced her classmates, and her handsome appearance attracted considerable attention from other girls 13 20.

Assigned to Zhou Yi's Class One, she endured a 120-lap punishment and defeated Yuanen Tiandong when Zhou Yi made his continued enrollment in the class conditional on beating her. Wang Dong'er already despised him for abusing his family's influence and attempting to force her to submit to him 21.

Her freshman assessment teammates were Huo Yuhao and Xiao Xiao. Although she disliked Huo Yuhao, she relied on his Spiritual Detection against Zhou Sichen and defeated that opponent with Sea God's Light. During the final, she took responsibility for her berserk teammate and personally kicked Huo Yuhao out of the arena, using light power that countered the evil energy affecting him 61 68 71.

Confronting Her Parentage

At the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, Wang Dong'er failed the Lovesick Heartbreak Red's test. Tang San's consciousness subsequently possessed her, but Xu Xingyu's protective charm destroyed the intrusion. Gu Yuena then prompted her to examine why she loved Xu Xingyu and why she resented his closest partner 91 96.

During the Soul Master Tournament, Wang Dong'er's independent goddess transformation defeated Ye Wuqing and secured Shrek's place in the quarterfinals. Bai Xiuxiu later recognized the Sea God's presence in her power, allowing Wang Dong'er to deduce that Tang San was her father 183 185.

The revelation brought fear rather than reassurance. After learning about Tang San's interference with the continent and Xu Xingyu's mission to reconcile humans and Soul Beasts, she rejected being treated as her father's pawn. She affirmed that she wanted to remain Wang Dong'er and help Xu Xingyu of her own free will 186 187.

Sea God Nine Trials

Xu Xingyu entrusted Wang Dong'er with the Sea God position that the Goddess of Life had given him as compensation after Tang San lost it. He encouraged her to become a better Sea God without accepting blame for her father's actions 271.

Her inheritance brought her into contact with Xiao Wu, who acknowledged her as her daughter and became her examiner. During the First Trial, Xiao Wu sealed Wang Dong'er's Sea God-related abilities so that the Sea God's Light would not simply recognize her power and let her pass. Wang Dong'er discovered that the pressure accelerated cultivation and trained on the thirty-sixth step 272 273.

After completing the First Trial, she took leave from Shrek and relocated to Sea God Island. She quickly completed the Second Trial, crossing the Ring Sea without killing Sea Soul Beasts or using Soul Ring skills or Soul Tools. Her precise water control remained effective even with her bloodline's suppressive effect disabled 354 355.

She also resolved to treat Sea God Island's inhabitants better than Tang San had. Beyond increasing her strength, she hoped to use the Sea God inheritance to return sea-beast faith to Xu Xingyu, although she did not know that the Sea God godhood had already become subordinate to the Dragon God godhood 354 369.

Tang Wutong's Attempted Takeover

During the Third Trial, interference through the Sinking Silver Pillar forced Wang Dong'er into her Sea of Consciousness. A personality calling itself Tang Wutong claimed to be the original owner of her body, seized her hammer Martial Soul, and attempted to devour her 357 358 359.

Wang Dong'er resisted with a Sea God Trident projection and used Golden Light to overload Tang Wutong's fully accumulated hammer attack. When Tang Wutong retaliated with an Asura Blood Sword-like technique, Xu Xingyu intervened. He discovered that the attacker was a virtual personality Tang San had fabricated from Wang Dong'er's Divine Realm memories using concealed Asura Divine Power 360 361.

Xu Xingyu sealed the personality, but its fusion with Wang Dong'er's soul made permanent removal dangerous. Gu Yuena warned that separating and purifying the fragment could erase part of Wang Dong'er's own soul 367 398.

Mingdu and Xiao Wu's Rescue

In Mingdu, Wang Dong'er condemned the Holy Spirit Cult's plan to use biochemical weapons against civilians and helped coordinate negotiations with Shrek and the three empires. She later confronted Huo Yuhao as the Holy Spirit Team's captain, challenged his excuses for joining the cult, and fought his fusion of three divine powers 518 520 541 543.

After that exhausting battle, she faced Ye Xishui's attack alongside the other women. She finally gained the Lovesick Heartbreak Red's recognition and later stopped Ye Xishui's finishing move with Sea God's Twilight, paying for it with severe injuries and the destruction or degradation of several major items 547 551.

When Xiao Wu's body and soul were being consumed by Abyss energy, Wang Dong'er asked Xu Xingyu to use the rare soul treasures intended for her own treatment to save her mother. The sealed Tang Wutong personality then voluntarily separated, erased itself, and used its soul power to stabilize Xiao Wu 564 566.

Xiao Wu became Wang Dong'er's Soul Spirit. The ceremony healed Wang Dong'er's hidden injuries and transformed her second Martial Soul into the Sea God Trident. She later fought the Demon Empress with Xiao Wu and Xu Yanxue, combining domains with Xu Yanxue to form the Ice Sea Goddess Domain 568 579 581.

• Normal appearance: Long, wavy pink-blue hair, matching eyes, a tall and slender build, and long limbs. At fifteen, she carries herself with a composed, martial confidence 540.

Personality

Wang Dong'er is proud, competitive, and quick-tempered. Her desire to keep pace with Xu Xingyu pushes her to cultivate seriously, develop her own techniques, and request spiritual training rather than rely solely on her talent. She insists that she is not an ornament who can only hide behind him 15 40 369.

She is openly jealous of Xu Xingyu's other partners, especially Gu Yuena. She initially encourages Jiang Nannan's pursuit partly to gain an ally against Xu Yanxue. Even after declaring that being with Xu Xingyu matters more than competing with the other women, she still dreams of surpassing Gu Yuena and becoming principal wife 14 187 502.

Her experiences with Tang San make personal autonomy central to her identity. She distinguishes freely chosen love and responsibility from obedience imposed by family, and refuses to let the names Tang Wutong or “Sea God's daughter” erase the person she has become 187 358 393.

Despite her sharp tongue, she shows compassion toward vulnerable people and Soul Beasts. She spares the captive bear in her academy examination, objects to attacks on civilians even in an enemy empire, and sacrifices resources intended for her own recovery to save Xiao Wu 118 518 564.
