Background and History

Childhood in the Duke's Mansion

Huo Yuhao was the White Tiger Duke's third son, born to the duke's personal maid, Huo Yun'er. His illegitimate birth made him a target of the duchess's faction. After he awakened Spirit Eyes with only rank-one innate Soul Power, the duchess falsely accused mother and son of carrying an infectious disease and had them moved into a dilapidated hut at the mansion's edge. Dai Hao remained away commanding troops and did not know Huo Yuhao existed 3.

At eight, Huo Yuhao accidentally bumped into Dai Huabin while washing clothes. Dai Huabin ordered his subordinates to cripple him, but Huo Yun'er shielded her son and suffered the beating instead. Her injuries developed into lingering illness, and she died when Huo Yuhao was ten. He swore revenge and, while crying out against his fate, swallowed a mysterious black pearl drawn toward his resentment 3.

Star Dou Great Forest and the Tang Sect

After reaching rank ten and familiarizing himself with his strengthened body, Huo Yuhao left to find a suitable spiritual-type Soul Beast. In the Star Dou Great Forest, he shared grilled fish with Tang Ya and Bei Bei. Later, he survived a group of Wind Baboons but was nearly killed by their leader, a four-hundred-year Three-Eyed Demonic Ape. The black pearl responded to his hatred, triggering a berserk transformation through which he killed the ape 3 4.

Before he could absorb the ape's ring, the Sky Dream Ice Silkworm merged with him as a Wisdom Soul Ring. Tang Ya and Bei Bei subsequently found him unconscious, protected him, and returned the ape's head Soul Bone rather than keeping it. Moved by their conduct and familiar with stories of the Tang Sect, he accepted Tang Ya's invitation to join 5.

Shrek Academy

Huo Yuhao's early academy life exposed both his pride and his dependence on others. When Yuanen Tiandong demanded that he become an underling and insulted his mother, Huo Yuhao attacked and was overpowered. Xu Xingyu intervened before Yuanen could continue beating him 16.

His support abilities soon became entangled with disputes over recognition and fair play. He secretly assisted Tang Ya and Bei Bei in a Soul Fighting match, then attempted a spiritual attack on Xu Sanshi; the Mysterious Serpent Soul Spirit intercepted it, leaving him unconscious from backlash. During the freshman assessment, he disregarded Wang Dong'er's instructions and attacked directly so teachers would notice contributions that were otherwise difficult to detect 38 64.

His team finished second, but he received neither core nor provisional core status from the Martial Soul Department. Suspicions surrounding his evil aura contributed to the decision, while Fan Yu had also interfered to retain him for the Soul Tool Department. Unaware of Fan Yu's role, Huo Yuhao resolved to repay the Soul Tool Department and prove the Martial Soul Department wrong 73 75.

Far North Expedition

Tian Meng led Huo Yuhao into the Far North to awaken his second Martial Soul, insisting on the Ice Empress despite Huo Yuhao's fear of confronting a 390,000-year Soul Beast. Huo Yuhao gradually suspected that Tian Meng's romantic fixation was taking priority over his safety 98 100 102.

After the plan failed, Huo Yuhao escaped pursuing Soul Beasts and sheltered in an ice house. There he obtained Soul Bones and the Rakshasa Helmet. When an Ice Fang White Tiger later hunted him, Tian Meng attempted to activate the helmet and was consumed by it. The helmet fused with Huo Yuhao, who killed the tiger with an empowered Soul Shock and absorbed its ring to awaken his Ice Fang White Tiger Martial Soul 105 108 109 110.

Estrangement and Departure from Shrek

Huo Yuhao returned with Ultimate Ice and defeated the Flame Lion King decisively in the promotion assessment. His success encouraged him to challenge other students, but his growing arrogance deepened tensions with He Caitou and his former teammates 119 120 144 150.

Attempts at reconciliation with his birth family also failed. Dai Yueheng investigated his childhood persecution and conveyed Dai Hao's remorse. When father and son finally met, Huo Yuhao demanded that Dai Hao divorce the duchess, then presented the White Tiger Dagger and asked him to kill Dai Huabin 152 154 155.

During the Soul Master Tournament, Huo Yuhao's unstable Rakshasa power and indiscriminate rampages made his teammates distrust him. He nevertheless refused Wang Yan's request to provide concealed outside support in individual matches, questioning why Shrek condemned cheating when discovered but encouraged it when useful 180 189.

He accepted an invitation to the Body Sect but asked to finish the tournament first to honor his championship oath. His later use of evil fusion and devouring power led Shrek to classify him as an Evil Soul Master. Xian Lin'er subsequently determined that he had not yet practiced evil cultivation methods and planned supervision rather than execution, but the Holy Spirit Cult abducted him 200 201 224 226 242.

Holy Spirit Cult and Ye Haoyu

Within months, Huo Yuhao accepted evil cultivation. The cult reinforced his resentment by showing him the persecution of darkness-attribute Soul Masters, including a girl named Lan Ling. He also accepted the Evil Eye Holy King's inheritance and entered the Holy King Nine Trials 302 306.

As Ye Haoyu, he enrolled at Sun Moon Royal Academy and worked at Mingde Hall. He developed humanoid Soul Tools by combining Soul Tool research with Tang Sect mechanism techniques. Beneath his quiet public routine, he remained committed to destroying the White Tiger Family and surpassing Xu Xingyu 414.

His obedience to the cult was a deception. The Rakshasa Helmet defeated its brainwashing ritual, and his poison immunity thwarted its chemical control. He used Mingde Hall to study medicinal ingredients and sought to create a Soul Tool capable of administering potions on a large scale 415.

Return and Holy Spirit Empire

Huo Yuhao reappeared with the Holy Spirit Cult's tournament team and publicly revealed himself to his former acquaintances. Despite displaying eight Soul Rings and invoking the combined power of three gods, he lost to Wang Dong'er and blamed her Soul Tool Armor for the defeat 501 540 541 545.

He later appeared as the Holy Spirit Emperor commanding an invasion force against Star Luo. At level 95, he personally inflicted at least half of the allied army's losses, fighting with a black scythe 584.

Appearance

Huo Yuhao initially has blue hair and blue eyes. His later appearance changes substantially through disguises, Martial Soul transformations, and evil cultivation 3 306 414.

• Ye Haoyu disguise: Black hair and a slender, frail-looking build; dropping the disguise reveals a stronger body, deep azure hair, and somber gray eyes 414.
• Early berserk manifestation: Black markings spread over his body, including the character for “king” on his forehead 4.

Personality

Huo Yuhao's original driving force is devotion to his mother. He treats cooking as a survival skill rather than a vocation and prioritizes becoming strong enough to avenge her. Early encounters also show generosity and gratitude: he shares food with strangers he judges harmless and values Bei Bei's honesty over the ape's Soul Bone 3 4 5.

His pride makes perceived humiliation difficult to tolerate. At Shrek, he seeks visible recognition for his contributions even at the expense of team coordination. Later success develops into arrogance, while defeats provoke resentment toward people he believes were born with advantages denied to him 64 120 144 541 545.

He is not wholly unaware of his own faults. He recognizes his arrogance toward He Caitou and considers apologizing; he also objects to covert tournament assistance and insists on completing his championship oath before leaving Shrek. These principles coexist with an increasingly extreme pursuit of power 150 189 200.

By the time he embraces evil cultivation, Huo Yuhao understands that oppression does not justify devouring innocents, yet chooses that path regardless. His later conduct combines genuine cruelty with calculation: he pretends to submit to the Holy Spirit Cult while exploiting its resources for his own ambitions 306 414 415.
