Background
Jiang Yao was raised for more than three years as the adopted daughter of True Lord Leng Feng and Fairy Xueyun, while Madam Li was her biological mother. Though she outwardly presented herself as a frightened child harmed by Madam Li, she privately used tears, fabricated bruises, and carefully chosen words to secure her adoptive parents' sympathy. 5 6
She is a reborn cultivator with memories spanning nearly five hundred years. In those memories, Jiang Wan became a great demon; Jiang Yao repeatedly tries to force that future into being, including planning to push Jiang Wan into the Abyssal Demon and later kill her once she falls to demonic cultivation. 8 20 45
Initially, Jiang Yao sought to remain at the Myriad Talisman Sect for seven years to study talismans before formally joining True Lord Bitter Sword of the Myriad Sword Sect. Bitter Sword considered her state of mind unsuitable for the sword path and ultimately passed her to Venerable Wanhe instead. 5 51
After helping Xu Hengliang catch Fortune Koi and framing Jiang Wan, Jiang Yao displayed water Spiritual Power before Venerable Wanhe. Her exceptional Fortune impressed him enough to accept her as a disciple and later grant her the Taoist name Yu Yao. 28 39

She is calculating from an extremely young age. Jiang Yao habitually creates a helpless facade, shifts blame onto others, and exploits affection or guilt to secure protection. Her manipulation of Fairy Xueyun, Liuhuo, Xu Hengliang, and the Su Family follows this pattern. 6 28 50 379
Her confidence rests heavily on her rebirth knowledge and status as the Daughter of the Heavenly Dao. As events increasingly diverge from her memories, that certainty deteriorates into anger, desperation, and eventually self-doubt over her own identity and purpose. 152 366 381
