Forcing His Way Through
There were five rune bones in all, left behind by the immortal birds that had followed the True Phoenix.
Even without those rune bones, the five Primal True Feathers were worth fighting for.
Boom!
A terrifying presence erupted as the monks of the Western Sect made their move.
They thrust out golden palms that shimmered with a faint golden light, as if polished from vajra glass, and grew ever larger in the air.
The golden palms rumbled, special symbols flashing across them.
These monks looked solemn and dignified, but every one of them harbored a fierce desire to kill.
The moment Lei Chong picked up the rune bones, they attacked. They wasted no words, nor did they utter a single rebuke.
They were just that direct, just that confident and arrogant.
Boom!
Lei Chong narrowed his eyes. The phantom of a phoenix emerged behind him, flames swirling around it as its cold eyes swept in every direction.
The enormous fire phoenix pounced forward and crashed into their giant palms.
The void shook with a thunderous boom, and surging flames erupted.
The terrifying divine flames had only just begun to spread when the giant hands jerked back as if shocked, not daring to touch them in the slightest.
Hum!
Lei Chong formed a pair of wings and rushed forward at extreme speed, moving so fast that even the void trembled slightly.
He charged up to the Western Sect monks, formed a fist seal, and began fighting them.
Clang!
These monks were powerful, and their physical bodies were fearsome as well. When Lei Chong's fists struck them, they actually rang with a metallic clang.
It was like striking blocks of metal. Relying on physical strength alone, he could do nothing to them for the time being.
But they were not having an easy time either. Lei Chong's blows sent their Qi and blood churning, their faces turning the color of gold paper as blood trickled from the corners of their mouths.
All seven monks had joined forces, yet they still could not stop Lei Chong.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
After exchanging physical blows with them for a while, Lei Chong lost all patience. He unleashed his full strength, beating them until they fled like rats with their hands over their heads.
The two sides clashed fiercely for over a hundred moves. Lei Chong killed two monks and severely wounded the remaining five, who finally managed to flee.
"Little brother, what are you doing? Why did you snatch our rune bones?" The Witch swayed as she rushed up to Lei Chong, displeased.
"They belonged to no one. How did they become yours?" Lei Chong refused to back down.
"You... We spent so long discussing how to divide those rune bones, only for you to snatch them away. You're cutting off our path, trying to make us lose the True Phoenix Precious Technique." The Witch ground her teeth in anger, itching to attack at once.
Lei Chong's combat strength was formidable, leaving her without the slightest confidence.
"You memorized those runes long ago. You just haven't comprehended them fully, so don't talk about me cutting off your path." Lei Chong exposed her without hesitation.
As soon as he finished speaking, he left without looking back.
The Witch gently clenched her teeth, wanting to argue but having no grounds to do so.
Suddenly, her expression changed. She had just thought of something, but she had no time to ponder it now and hurried after Lei Chong.
When they first arrived, they had already studied the rune bones.
The rune bones seemed to have taken root, impossible to pick up from the nest. Perhaps only after thoroughly comprehending the runes could they pick them up.
Lei Chong's ability to pick up the rune bones showed that he had comprehended the runes.
Moreover, he had been the first to enter this space and might have comprehended more than one kind of rune.
And judging by the direction he was taking, he was clearly rushing toward the giant mountain, which showed he was already somewhat confident he could break its formation.
All she had to do was stay close behind Lei Chong, and she could set foot on the giant mountain sooner.
At the foot of the giant mountain, several figures sat cross-legged. Their presences were astonishing, far surpassing those of the people around them who were studying the precious techniques.
They were the strongest members of their respective factions, keeping one another in check.
Once these people made a move, the other Venerables would struggle to withstand them. Widespread casualties might result, inflicting heavy losses on every side.
So, after discussing it, these few had left the task of studying the techniques to the others in their factions.
They only needed to wait here for their people to come and break the formation.
Suddenly, they opened their eyes at the same time, their gazes fixed in one direction. A mass of flickering lightning was approaching at extreme speed.
They slowly rose to their feet, watching the lightning warily.
Soon, they could see clearly that there was a person within the lightning. It was none other than the first person to have charged in here.
Whoosh!
Lei Chong landed, staring warily at them.
Their presences were far too powerful, far surpassing those of the other Venerables.
If there were only one or two, he would not have been too worried. But with eight or nine here, getting past them would likely be difficult.
"Hmph. You used a spirit body to scout for a long time, and you disappeared as soon as you came in. Where exactly did you go?" a green-haired man asked.
He was the first deity to arrive and had seen everything that happened then.
The others, however, had never seen Lei Chong and knew nothing of what had happened, so none of them spoke.
But Lei Chong had already thought of a way before coming here.
Hum!
Lei Chong opened his ten Heavenly Passages, and three figures rushed out. Each held a precious artifact: the Divine Illumination Lamp, the Five Fowl Fan, and the Black Iron Whip.
Although the Black Iron Whip was only a rough blank, it was a magical artifact made specifically to target primordial spirits.
Whoosh!
One of Lei Chong's spirit bodies stepped forward, holding an ancient lamp. He blew gently, and countless runes transformed into flames.
Soon, he noticed a problem: the Divine Illumination Lamp's power was suppressed.
Seeing this, Demon Spider knew ordinary methods were useless. He could only resort to overwhelming measures to force this person to tell the truth.
Boom!
He raised a dark green hand and brought it down over Lei Chong.
The flames struck the palm, and the two collided in the air. The surrounding void shook with a thunderous boom, and the palm was driven back, but the flames were extinguished as well.
At the sight, Lei Chong's expression grew increasingly grave.
The Divine Illumination Lamp had been suppressed, and the other magical artifacts would fare little better.
Lei Chong gritted his teeth. Since he had come this far, he would give it his all. As long as he could hold these people off for a moment, he could charge into the formation.
Hum!
Lei Chong opened his Heavenly Passages again, and five figures walked out.
All five figures were wreathed in flames, as though five immortal birds were circling around them.
They were the five precious techniques, nurtured by ordinary spirit bodies.
The five spirit bodies moved together, quickly rushing toward the formation's screen of light.
"Not good. Those seem to be the five immortal birds. He's mastered five precious techniques. Everyone, attack, quickly!" The green-haired Demon Spider's expression was cold.
In truth, there was no need for him to speak. As deities, the others were not much weaker than Demon Spider and could naturally tell what was happening.
Boom!
Light flew everywhere, and all manner of terrifying phenomena rose up.
This was the hardest battle Lei Chong had faced since leaving the Kunpeng Nest.
Any one of the people before him could have fought him alone. Now that they had joined forces, they caused him great trouble.
Hum!
At the same time, his five spirit bodies moved. Five illusory immortal birds flew out and landed on the formation's screen of light, overlapping with the five phantom figures there.
