Appearance
- Face and figure: Described as possessing near-perfect features, an elegant, curvaceous figure, and exceptional beauty without makeup 5.
- Apparent age: Looks eighteen or nineteen when she appears in the imperial capital 19.
- Fox tails: Her first appearance features nine swaying tails; the imperial-capital description gives her eight or nine translucent, gleaming tails 5 19.
- Clothing: Appears in white in the imperial capital and later wears a long, close-fitting black gown when arriving in Medicine Capital 19 35.
- Presence: Accompanied by a delicate fragrance and a naturally beguiling charm 5 42.
Personality
The Witch is playful, socially confident, and quick to bargain. She habitually calls herself “big sister” and addresses Lei Chong as “little brother,” turning negotiations and disagreements into teasing exchanges. When her charm fails to persuade him to sell the Blue Crystal Sea Gall, she switches to offering materials in trade 5 20 21.
Her rivalry with Yue Chan is intense but tempered by pride. She deliberately competes against her at auction, yet refuses to exploit an opening for a sneak attack during the Phoenix palace battle: she wants to defeat Yue Chan directly 21 45.
She also shows practical judgment under pressure. She is willing to postpone harvesting divine medicine to prioritize the True Phoenix Precious Technique, and she urges Lei Chong to collect the immortal medicinal liquid before their pursuers arrive 43 44. Despite their frequent friction, she intervenes to protect him from deities and later becomes visibly panicked when she believes he has died 42 50.
Abilities & Skills
Heavenly Eye
The Witch possesses an awakened Heavenly Eye, though its capabilities are explicitly inferior to Lei Chong’s 35.
- Uses it while questioning Lei Chong, intending to detect whether he is lying 35.
- Examines Divine Medicine Valley’s hidden depths, but cannot penetrate the mystery beneath it 35.
Spiritual Body
Her initial meeting with Lei Chong occurs through a spiritual body, which he recognizes despite its lifelike appearance 5.
- Can interact with objects, carry treasures, and negotiate on her behalf 5 6.
- Dissolves into a rain of light when Lei Chong uses his newly awakened Heavenly Eye to look through her clothing 6.
- That spiritual body lacks a treasure capable of blocking his ocular technique 6.
Charm
The Witch can deliberately release a beguiling influence in addition to her natural charm 5 42.
- Attempts to influence Lei Chong while asking to purchase the Blue Crystal Sea Gall 5.
- Fails to sway his resolve during that exchange 5.
Combat
At the peak of the Array Formation Realm, the Witch combines her cultivation with a powerful stone bead when confronting stronger opponents 42.
- Places herself between Lei Chong and attacking deities 42.
- Is knocked backward by a Western Sect deity’s strike against her and the bead, but suffers no real injury 42.
- Prepares the bead when confronting Yue Chan’s unexpectedly strong performance, but declines to attack her by surprise 45.
Treasure Knowledge and Negotiation
- Identifies Blue Crystal Sea Gall and explains its use in cultivating the Heavenly Eye 5.
- Recognizes Phoenix Blood Grass and understands the rarity of the Heaven Ascending Ladder 43.
- Handles Lei Chong’s bidding for the Void Beast Hide, using more than a dozen kinds of his materials to secure it 21.
Equipment & Items
- Stone bead — Her principal demonstrated defensive treasure. Within the Phoenix site, its power is suppressed to the Venerable level unless it erupts completely. Lei Chong judges that it would likely have forcibly carried her away if she had been stranded outside the gate 42.
- Sacred treasure vial — Preserves the divinity of Blue Crystal Sea Gall bile after the crystal is opened 5.
- White jade disc — Worn on her arm. It unexpectedly emits a white glow when she meets Lei Chong again, startling her; its function is not explained 19.
- Blue Crystal Sea Gall — Receives the half remaining after Lei Chong awakens his Heavenly Eye, exchanging herbs and materials for it 6.
- Myriad Law Stone — Included in her payment for the sea gall. Its internal crack prevents it from being refined into a supreme treasure 6 19.
- Immortal medicinal liquid — Collects liquid from the jade pool outside the Phoenix palace using a precious bottle 44.
- True Phoenix rune fragments — Acquires fragments during the struggle over the shattered rune bone and studies them 48 49.
Relationships
- Lei Chong — A trading partner and teasing acquaintance who becomes an expedition ally. Their relationship includes disputes over treasures, mutual protection at the mountain gate, and her distress at his apparent death 5 21 41 42 50.
- Yue Chan — A persistent rival. The Witch competes with her publicly and privately, but insists on winning through a direct confrontation rather than an ambush 21 35 45.
- Shi Hao — An existing acquaintance whom she calls “Bear Child.” She met him before entering the Kunpeng Nest and later provides a secluded place for his conversation with Lei Chong 20 22.
- Heaven Severing Sect — Holds a special, high-ranking position that earns consideration from major powers. Sect members accompany her to Divine Medicine Valley, and an elder checks that she is unharmed in the Phoenix palace 35 42 44.
- Imperial-capital proprietress — A subordinate at her establishment. The Witch secretly orders her to stop attacking Lei Chong before appearing to receive him 19.
Story Role / Major Arcs
North Sea Encounter
Drawn by the smell of roasted golden fish, the Witch approaches Lei Chong through a spiritual body and notices the Blue Crystal Sea Gall among his possessions. She identifies it, offers materials in exchange for a portion, and waits while he awakens his Heavenly Eye 5.
After receiving the remaining half, she realizes that Lei Chong is using his new eye to look through her clothing. Furious, she dissolves her spiritual body and leaves the payment behind 6.
Stone Kingdom Imperial Capital
Almost two months later, Lei Chong finds her at the palatial establishment she oversees. Although still irritated by their encounter at sea, she arranges accommodation for him before the Gu Bone Auction 19.
At the auction, she secures the Void Beast Hide on his behalf, then leaves their private room to compete with Yue Chan. Afterward, she directs people seeking the hide toward Lei Chong. She later provides her palace as a private meeting place for Lei Chong and Shi Hao 20 21 22.
Divine Medicine Valley and the Phoenix Mountain
The Witch arrives with Heaven Severing Sect cultivators to investigate the phoenix-like flames. After Lei Chong takes the rune bones she and other cultivators had planned to divide, she follows him, realizing that his comprehension may allow him to open the mountain formation 35 40 41.
When deities attack him at the shrinking gate, she steps in with her stone bead. Lei Chong brings her through before the entrance closes, and they ascend together. Along the way, they discover the medicine field, reach the summit palace, and collect the remaining immortal medicinal liquid 42 43 44.
Struggle for the True Phoenix Bone
The Witch tries to dissuade Lei Chong from entering the upper palace, offering to learn the technique herself and teach him afterward as thanks. He proceeds regardless. During the ensuing struggle, she obtains rune fragments and retreats when flames overwhelm the chamber 45 48 49.
After Jin Gang leaves Lei Chong trapped above, she watches the passage in disbelief. Her face turns pale as she rejects the possibility that someone so cunning could have died there. Lei Chong survives and reaches another hall, but she remains unaware of his escape 50.
