Background / History
Earth’s Monster Crisis
Lu Xuan receives a cultivation technique from Chen Mo and solemnly promises not to misuse it. His oath includes maintaining an upright household, upholding justice, and fighting for humanity. He also explains Earth’s unstable political situation: the future Earth Alliance, Five Great Nations, and other factions are beginning to emerge while older powers collapse 100.
Great Han Empire: Transmigration and Debt
In this account, Lu Xuan was a recently graduated wage worker in China before awakening in a parallel Earth as an orphan. His Sign-In System identifies its bound world as the Tianxuan Continent, despite his surroundings appearing to be an alternate Earth ruled in part by the Great Han Empire 167.
Believing the system’s “apocalypse survival” mode foretold an imminent disaster, he borrowed from more than a dozen noble loan sharks to stockpile supplies. When no apocalypse immediately followed, he spent months doing construction work and serving wealthy women at a club to meet the mounting debt 167.
Attribute rewards eventually transformed his prospects. He joined his school’s track-and-field and weightlifting teams and earned recruitment to the national team. Because international athletic medals could confer noble titles, several creditors waived his interest, while others substantially reduced it 167 168.
Great Han Empire: Classroom Outbreak
After discovering how to spend experience points, Lu Xuan became a Level Two Evolver and began preparing for a possible apocalypse again—this time refusing to borrow from loan sharks. He sought bows or crossbows because civilian firearm ownership was heavily restricted 168 169.
At 9:20 a.m., the system announced that the world was mutating. Inspection revealed that classmates were turning into zombies. Lu Xuan barricaded the lecture hall, attempted to separate transforming students from unaffected ones, and rearranged the seating to create a defensible aisle 169 170 171.
His incomplete control over his strength caused deaths when classmates tried to restrain him. Once the transformations began, he fought the zombies barehanded while protecting the students behind him. Several young men eventually armed themselves with wooden boards and joined the defense 170 171.
Da Ming Empire: Family Tragedy and Compensation
The later Da Ming account gives Lu Xuan a different transmigration history. A worker accustomed to a 996 schedule, he suspects that overwork killed him before he entered the body of a same-named teenager. That teenager’s family had died when two reincarnators fought near their home, leaving him in a vegetative state 187 191 192.
A powerful female reincarnator involved in the incident felt responsible for failing to protect the family. At her request, Lu Xuan received substantial compensation, a luxury villa, and admission to the area’s best high school. Three years later, he was living in Hongdu Commandery City, Gan Province, within the Da Ming Empire 187.
Paradise and the Trial Mission
Before entering Paradise, Lu Xuan ranked among the top hundred players by combat power in the virtual game Journey and led a small elite legion. On his eighteenth birthday, an attempt to enter the virtual network instead brought him to Paradise 193 194.
There, Liu Rujun explained reincarnator resources, talents, and trial missions. Lu Xuan concealed his SSS-class talent by claiming it was merely C-class. Learning that exceptional talents faced exceptionally lethal trials, he declined to join the legion and concluded that information and timing—not additional combat equipment—would determine his survival 195 196.
His plan was to follow Chen Xuanzang to Sun Wukong, obtain a monkey hair while Wukong was concealing his true danger, and immediately submit the mission 196.
Becoming Sannan
Recognizing Chen Xuanzang’s master as Buddha’s incarnation, Lu Xuan persistently sought discipleship rather than accompany Xuanzang into immediate danger. He shaved his head with a dagger and refused to leave the monk despite repeated discouragement 197.
While begging for the monk’s requested meat and wine, he suffered a near-fatal beating and public humiliation. He endured by interpreting each ordeal as Buddha’s test. Afterward, he awoke healed and greatly strengthened, with the Dharma name Sannan and the position of a nominal disciple 198 199.
The monk later permitted him to accompany Xuanzang toward Five Elements Mountain and gave him the Demon-Subduing Compendium, outwardly a copy of Three Hundred Children’s Songs. During the journey, Lu Xuan survived Miss Duan’s interference, Zhu Ganglie’s attack, and two months of wilderness travel largely through Xuanzang’s protection 200 201 202.
Near the trial’s three-month deadline, the pair reached Lotus Cave. Lu Xuan identified its entrance beneath a white lotus, entered after Xuanzang, and encountered Sun Wukong. Wukong’s presence terrified him so severely that Xuanzang had to stand between them 202.
Later Paradise Activity
Later appearances show Lu Xuan managing resources in Paradise and concealing his movements in the real world. He spends time searching for boxes, gathering information, and cultivating in training rooms. His latest recorded departure for a mission lists him as a Tier 1, LV1 reincarnator with two SS-class cultivation methods 203 204.
Appearance
- Hair: Originally has jet-black hair; shaves his head when seeking discipleship under Buddha’s incarnation 197.
- Scars: Cuts his scalp three times while shaving. He later associates the healed marks with trials of body, spirit, and conviction 197 198 199.
- Monastic clothing: Wears a monk’s robe and carries a broken alms bowl after becoming Sannan 199.
Personality
Lu Xuan places survival ahead of heroics. During the classroom outbreak, he is willing to rescue others only while his own safety remains defensible. Nevertheless, he cannot bring himself to abandon familiar classmates without trying to help 169 170.
He is pragmatic about power and social connections. In the Great Han account, he maintains contact with a princess as a possible future connection while recognizing that advancement must chiefly depend on his own abilities. In Paradise, he hides his exceptional talent because both enemies and potential allies might target him 170 195 196 203.
His apparent shamelessness becomes a survival strategy when he clings to Buddha’s incarnation and later to Chen Xuanzang. Yet the trials reveal that humiliation genuinely hurts him: he repeatedly reassures himself that it is “Buddha’s test” to keep from fleeing or giving up 197 198 202.
Xuanzang’s repeated protection leaves him sincerely grateful and guilty about being a burden. He also studies his senior brother’s teachings seriously, even when those teachings appear to be children’s songs 200 202.

- Daily rewards are 1 experience point, 5 experience points, or 1 random attribute point 167.
- Monthly rewards can reach 200 experience points or 3 random attribute points; annual rewards can reach 1,000 experience points or 10 random attribute points 167.

Portable Space
- Stores nonliving objects and opens or closes at Lu Xuan’s will 168.

- Further improvement beyond level two requires his personal level to reach three 169.
Inspection
- Reveals a target’s current condition, including attributes, skills, and personal level; level two also includes health information 169.
- Information depends on the skill’s level and the mental-strength difference between Lu Xuan and the target 169.
- Allows him to recognize classmates undergoing zombie transformation before they attack 169 170.
Physical Combat
- Before becoming an Evolver, can lift 400 kilograms and run 100 metres in under eight seconds 169.

- Does not consider himself bulletproof, despite his enhanced physical abilities 169.
Hundredfold Critical Hit

| Mission reward grade | Activation chance |
|---|---|
| B-class and below | 100% |
| A-class | 90% |
| S-class | 50% |
| SS-class | 10% |
| SSS-class | 1% |
- Cooldown: One reincarnation day 195.
Buddhist Cultivation and Blood God Clone
- Buddha Mental Cultivation Method: An SS-class primary cultivation method, recorded at LV2 → LV3 (52%) in his latest panel 204.
- Blood God Clone: A second SS-class primary cultivation method, recorded at LV1 → LV2 (0.1%); no demonstrated applications are given 204.
- Demon-Subduing Compendium: Studies the teachings presented as Three Hundred Children’s Songs under Xuanzang’s guidance 200 201.
- Repeating that his hardships are Buddha’s tests helps him regain composure; after calming himself at the mountain temple, he can perceive the distant Buddha statue he previously failed to see 202.
- Real-world cultivation is ineffective because supernatural particles there are inactive. Paradise training rooms supply suitable energy and accelerated cultivation 203.
