Chapter 12
He was so irritated he was about to explode.
Meanwhile, Carlos stood where he was for a long time before finally wiping all expression from his face. He radiated an icy chill all the way back to his office.
He sat in his office for a while, then took a deep breath.
The Dew Nest was a servant Zerg colony with rather suggestive connotations. Its honey held a very special allure for ordinary Zerg, who would never see the Zerg Queen in their entire lives. Many even considered it the colony closest to the Zerg Queen; after all, both its mimicry and its ability to produce honey were very similar to hers.
It was hardly the first time Carlos had heard the rumor that the Blood Wings became addicted to Dew Nest honey and ultimately tormented those Dew Nests to the brink of death, until they finally went extinct. But in the past, he had always been able to laugh it off: the rumor was full of contempt and malice toward the entire Blood Wing race, and it was quite possibly fabricated by several other colonies to slander the Blood Wing colony.
But this time, after hearing those words from Hill, Carlos felt very, very uncomfortable, inside and out.
He had never felt such disgust toward the Blood Wing colony.
"Damn it."
Carlos lowered his head and pressed a hand to the space between his brows.
He cursed, but he did not know whether he should curse the arrogant Medises Blood Wing or his own disgustingly weak self.
In the end, he activated the highest privacy setting and placed a video call, his face expressionless.
A dark, jagged shadow soon appeared on the other side of the light screen.
"Your Highness Ariel."
Carlos bowed slightly, greeting him with a deeply respectful bow.
"Oh, Carlos, I've told you many times that you don't need to do that in front of me."
A very gentle voice came from the other side of the light screen, but Carlos remained in the same position. He did not even dare move-his body's stiffness was not a choice he had made, but purely an instinct rooted in his blood.
"You haven't used this channel to contact me in a long time. Tell me, what happened, Carlos?"
The Zerg called Ariel asked softly. Judging by his voice alone, he could have been described as considerate and refined.
Carlos kept his head lowered and felt a bead of sweat slowly slide down his temple.
"I want to get a very low-ranking Dew Nest larva back from Medises Blood Wing."
The black-haired Zerg spoke in a hoarse voice, his manner deeply respectful.
"The Dew Nest is a servant Zerg colony of the Blood Wings... so I can only ask you for help."
"Is that all?"
Ariel seemed a little confused by Carlos's request.
"Yes, that's all."
Carlos spoke cautiously.
"I once made that larva a promise, and I want to keep my word," he explained, somewhat flustered.
"All right, my dear Carlos. This is the first time in all these years that you've ever made a request of me, so of course I'll help you."
Ariel spoke softly.
"But, as the price-"
"I will offer you my life."
Carlos answered immediately.
The dark figure on the light screen shifted, in what vaguely looked like a shake of the head.
"Oh, there's no need to be so serious, Carlos. It's just one little Dew Nest. How about this? If you're ever called upon to hunt me down, just remember to go a little easy on me with your first attack."
"...Your Highness Ariel?!"
Carlos asked in utter astonishment.
Ariel should have known better than anyone that there was no way the Pale Calamity could hunt him down in this world.
Sure enough, the next second, Carlos heard Ariel laugh softly.
"I'm only joking. Carlos, I'll help you, so please don't worry..."
"After all, you're my favorite servant Zerg."
Chapter 12
Perhaps it was because Senior He-no, he should be called Medises now-had bitten him hard before he lost consciousness, leaving him so deeply shaken that Su Lin found no respite even after blacking out. He immediately dreamed of the days many years ago when he had spent all his time with He Zisen while attending Border High School.
"What's this?"
The young, aloof boy seemed to be dozing on the rooftop, but as soon as Su Lin sat down beside him, He Zisen reached over and pulled a pink envelope from the bottom of Su Lin's schoolbag.
"This..."
Su Lin's eyes widened as he looked at the envelope between He Zisen's fingers, his expression stiffening slightly. Thanks to the recent revival of retro trends, this ancient method of courtship had become popular even in a backwater like Border High School. Yet He Zisen looked as though he genuinely did not know what it was. He frowned slightly, fixing the envelope with a sharp stare.
"This thing stinks."
Su Lin heard him mutter in disgust.
The perfume on the envelope was actually pretty expensive...
He grumbled inwardly, but as He Zisen's most outstanding underling, Su Lin could hardly contradict his boss's judgment.
"Heh heh, yeah, I think it stinks too."
He agreed stiffly.
If only I'd thrown it away sooner. He could not help lamenting inwardly. At first, receiving confessions from others had made him, a country boy who had struggled his way out of an orphanage, feel flattered. But after a series of incidents of harassment, he had long since come to avoid anything to do with courtship.
When he received the letter, he had intended to destroy it immediately, but he had happened to run into class time and found no opportunity. After class, he had hurried off to report to He Zisen and improve his favorability. By the time he opened his schoolbag, saw the letter, and remembered it, He Zisen had already spotted it.
