Power Progression

Stage / Realm / Level Chapter Notes
Human–Zerg Queen fusion 3 9 Activates an old fusion program before entering a specimen vessel during the institute’s destruction. After his rescue, he realizes that he has fused with an undeveloped Zerg Queen.
Wing development begins 13 14 Consumes an entire A-grade healing pod’s active capacity and grows thin, highly sensitive fledgling wings. Hill identifies this as renewed development.
Stronger fledgling wings 37 38 Following further treatment, his wings develop normally without rejection. They acquire a flowing sheen and become more supple, sensitive, and unusually durable for a Zerg Queen.
Honey secretion begins 48 49 His wing sacs begin transforming into honey glands while his wings remain attached. The secretion is involuntary and occurs far earlier than he expected.
Continuing genetic fusion identified 49 50 Medises explains that the Zerg genes are transforming his human body. Su Lin asks whether the process can be reversed; no reversal is established in the supplied chapters.

Background / History

Su Lin grew up poor in an orphanage where violence was commonplace. He describes himself as someone who survived by learning to endure beatings rather than inflict them. Despite his circumstances, he went on to attend a prestigious Alliance university 12 29.

At a dangerous high school on a border planet, Su Lin sought protection from his senior, He Zisen. During their final off-campus practical examination, he took a real bullet intended for He Zisen, who held him and desperately ordered him not to die 19.

Repeated harassment by male admirers made Su Lin wary of attracting attention. One apparently gentle male acquaintance nearly cut off his limbs and was subsequently imprisoned. Su Lin eventually moved to the remote Research Institute No. 37, hoping its employee protections would let him live quietly 9 30.

Before the Zerg attack, he was saving money to buy a small house in the Central Star Sector and planning a future with Airena, a woman he had met through online dating. He intended to meet her on Victory Day, marry her, and leave the institute for better opportunities 1 3.

Appearance

  • Height: 183 centimeters 10 48.
  • Build: Thin and pale, with a delicate appearance; Hill repeatedly comments on his pretty face 7 29.
  • Hybrid form: Retains a basically human body despite his fusion with the Zerg Queen specimen 38.
  • Wings: Initially small, transparent, and pearlescent. With further development, they gain a flowing sheen and become stronger and more supple 13 14 38.
  • Colony marking: Initially has no visible colony mark. A bloodline summoning procedure brings out a Dew Nest mark on his chest 21.

Personality

Su Lin identifies as straight and dreams of an ordinary marriage and family. He has no objection to relationships between men, but strongly resents unwanted advances and physical contact directed at him. His past experiences make the prospect of sexual captivity especially frightening 1 9 11.

Although habitually inclined toward an undemanding life, he has a powerful survival instinct. During the institute’s destruction, his promise to meet Airena motivates him to keep looking for an escape rather than accept death. Among the Zerg, he carefully identifies potential protectors and adjusts his behavior to avoid provoking stronger individuals 3 10 16.

His frightened demeanor can conceal deliberate calculation. He uses rehearsed expressions, emotional appeals, and changes of subject to influence others, though acting itself makes him tremble and sweat. His private thoughts remain sarcastic even when he outwardly behaves with exaggerated obedience 12 29 38.

Su Lin does not embrace his transformation. He hides his Zerg Queen identity even from Medises, fears further bodily changes, and hopes to return to the human world and have Xue Yao separate him from the Queen 32 36 37.

Abilities & Skills

Zerg Language and Scent Perception

His transformed body gives him an instinctive understanding of Zerg communication and scent cues 7 10.

  • Understands spoken Zerg without knowing how he acquired the ability 7.
  • Recognizes shared colony scents and distinguishes individual Zerg 7 10.
  • Correctly judges that the Black Thorn soldiers confronting him are weaker than Carlos and Hill from their scent alone 10.
  • Can perceive Medises’s distinctive Zerg scent, which resembles wine, fragrant flowers, and blood 40.

Pheromones and Honey Production

Su Lin’s sweet scent attracts intense interest from male Zerg. Medises suspects that Xue Yao modified his pheromones using genes from unidentified Zerg species 33.

  • His scent affects even high-ranking Zerg, making concealment an ongoing concern 26 33.
  • Begins producing sweet, milky honey from the roots of his wings 48.
  • Cannot voluntarily stop or hold back the secretion 49.
  • Produces honey before shedding his wings, contrary to the normal Queen development sequence he learned about 49.
  • Has not demonstrated egg-laying or the incubation of offspring in the supplied chapters.

Survival Tactics

Su Lin adapts material from a virtual relationship course to escape dangerous attention. The instructor was later exposed as a scammer, but the techniques prove useful against both humans and Zerg 12.

  • Feigns a desperate lunge toward a Black Thorn soldier’s lethal limb, prompting Hill to intervene 11 12.
  • Deliberately makes himself appear innocent, trusting, and pitiable 22.
  • Redirects uncomfortable questions by introducing another topic and returning the conversation to the questioner 38.

Limitations

  • Little physical strength: He is neither strong nor agile by human or Zerg standards and is easily restrained by Medises 37.
  • Sensitive wings: Minor impacts cause severe pain; another person’s touch can overwhelm him. Handling the wings himself is more tolerable 14 29 37.
  • Unstable transformation: His Zerg genes continue changing his body, and he does not know whether the process can be reversed 50.
  • Dependence on concealment: Discovery of his Queen identity could jeopardize his hope of leaving Zerg territory 49.

Equipment / Items

  • Research access card — His temporary S-level clearance lets him pass restricted checkpoints during the evacuation and reach the specimen storage area 2 3.
  • Servant bracelet and identification chip — Displays his registered colony, librarian position, physiological measurements, and location. Medises also receives an elevated-heart-rate alert from his wristband 39 49.
  • Scent-masking nutrient solution — Helps disguise his human–Zerg nature by reproducing Dew Nest’s scent, though that scent is itself highly attractive to Blood Wings 36 40.
  • A-grade healing pods — Relieve the physical strain of his modified genes and support wing development; the first pod he uses is completely exhausted 13 33.

Relationships

  • Airena — Online romantic partner. Su Lin plans to marry her, and the thought that she is waiting for him strengthens his determination to survive the institute attack 1 3.
  • He Zisen / Medises Blood Wing — Former school protector and later principal protector among the Zerg. Medises initially denies Su Lin’s familiar address, but subsequently acknowledges their shared past. Their reunion mixes protection with coercion: he claims Su Lin as a servant, treats his wings, and promises to seek a solution to his condition 19 24 30 33.
  • Carlos Pale Calamity — Rescues Su Lin from the human institute, protects him from Hill, and arranges medical care. He later disputes Medises’s claim over Su Lin and attempts to obtain him in exchange for three kilograms of benzoin spice 8 25 26.
  • Hill — Tries to recruit Su Lin as his “honey bug.” He rescues him from Black Thorn and supplies an A-grade healing pod, but also threatens him after rejection and demands deferential treatment 7 11 13 14.
  • Xue Yao — Professor connected to Su Lin’s research placement and genetic modification. Medises believes Xue Yao disregarded Su Lin’s safety; Su Lin nevertheless hopes to find him and undo the fusion 33 36.
  • Ariel — A male Zerg Saint and the next king insect, whom Su Lin initially mistakes for an attractive young woman. Su Lin briefly develops a crush, then retreats to Medises when Ariel’s behavior frightens him 42 44 46.
  • Virtual relationship-course instructor — An exposed scammer whose course materials become an unexpectedly effective survival resource 12.

Story Role / Major Arcs

Research Institute Attack and Accidental Fusion

  • Receives temporary S-level clearance to collect classified basement data, only to be left behind during a Zerg attack and evacuation 2.
  • Returns to the institute as its 300-second self-destruct countdown begins and activates the old fusion program 2 9.
  • Awakens aboard a Zerg vessel, where Carlos and Hill mistake him for an abandoned, underdeveloped larva 6 7.

Bloodline Examination and Reunion

  • Fears that the Security Committee will discover his hybrid nature and kill him 16 19.
  • Recognizes the inspector Medises as his former senior, He Zisen 19.
  • Is identified through bloodline summoning as Dew Nest and placed under Blood Wing’s authority. Su Lin concludes that servant status protects him from further investigation and demands that he become a honey bug 21 25.
  • Conceals the Queen component of his transformation while asking Medises to help him return home 32 33.

Life Aboard the Security Committee Ship

  • Receives a librarian assignment rather than the position Medises originally considered: his exclusive source of honey 39.
  • Begins work in a neglected library containing mostly human books about Zerg 41.
  • Meets Ariel and learns that appearing harmless or affectionate does not prevent a powerful Zerg from treating him as something to claim 42 46 49.

Premature Honey Production

  • Discovers honey soaking his pajamas and tries to wash away the evidence 48.
  • Begs Medises to stop or conceal the secretion, fearing that exposure as a young Queen will end his chance of returning to humanity 49.
  • Learns that his body is undergoing further fusion and urgently asks whether it can be reversed 50.
