Chapter 16
As he watched Su Lin obediently finish the nutrient solution, Medises's pupils grew brighter and more silvery.
He took the empty pouch from Su Lin's hand with practiced ease. If the unlucky human had been a little more observant, he might have noticed that there were no markings on the packaging of the nutrient solution he had just drunk.
Of course, Su Lin probably had no attention to spare for such trivial details at the moment, because Medises was already reaching toward his back.
"S-senior? W-wait a second!"
After the stimulation his wings had received on several previous occasions, even someone as slow on the uptake as Su Lin had gained some understanding of how sensitive they were. Although he knew Medises meant him no harm, when the other man actually reached out to touch that strange pair of wings, Su Lin still instinctively squirmed, trying to dodge him. Liu
Unfortunately, whether judged by human or Zerg standards, Su Lin could not be called strong or agile.
And so the young, frail, pitifully weak human was easily pinned to the seat by the tall, silver-haired Zerg at his side.
"Don't move," Medises said softly. "After your treatment in the treatment pod, I need to examine your wings."
"I'm not really a Zerg anyway. I think it's fine whether I have wings or not. Honestly, I don't care that much."
His face full of struggle, Su Lin muttered to Medises in strong resistance.
"Precisely because you're only a chimera, you need an examination all the more. Underdeveloped wings can cause necrosis of the wing sacs, and as a hybrid of a human and a Zerg, you simply couldn't withstand the standard treatment of cutting open the wing sacs."
Upon hearing Medises explain that the Zerg's ultimate solution for underdeveloped wings was to pull them out and let them grow back, he instantly went from reluctant resistance to utter fearlessness.
"Then sorry for the trouble, senior, but please make sure you examine my wings! Wait, you don't have to trouble yourself with taking my clothes off for me. I can do it myself!"
Su Lin stopped struggling altogether. Then, steeling himself, he undid the buttons of his white shirt one by one, right in front of Medises.
Medises's shirt was already quite loose on Su Lin, and before the young man had undone all the buttons, the soft white shirt slipped from his slender shoulders.
The silver-haired Zerg's gaze instantly fell on Su Lin's chest.
"Sorry."
Realizing that he was now standing disheveled in front of another man, Su Lin, as a straight man, felt somewhat uncomfortable with the situation.
Su Lin shivered, then turned around.
"Senior, please hurry and take a look at how they're doing..."
As he spoke, Su Lin reached behind himself and felt around, pulling apart the tips of his wings so his senior could get a clearer view of them in their entirety.
Medises did not respond immediately.
I'm so clever.
Su Lin thought to himself, a little pleased.
It was rather like how having someone else touch your dick would make you shudder with disgust, but holding your little buddy yourself felt like nothing at all. The same naturally applied to his wings. When someone else touched them, Su Lin felt his spine go weak, but when he did it himself, at most it felt as though he had suddenly grown a highly sensitive organ. Strange as it was, the sensation was not quite so overwhelming.
Of course, the insect wings growing from his body still felt strange to the touch, but Su Lin was certain this was much better than letting someone else touch them.
And just as he had hoped, once Su Lin took matters into his own hands, his senior did not touch him again.
Su Lin secretly breathed a sigh of relief.
Yet Medises's gaze remained fixed on Su Lin's back.
Was it because they were no longer the same species? That gaze was so intent that it made Su Lin's... scalp tingle.
Though there was no physical contact at all, Su Lin felt as though he could sense the "touch" of that gaze.
His skin grew a little hot.
The roots of his wings, in particular, tingled strangely under that scorching gaze.
At that moment, time seemed to be forcibly stretched out by some mysterious power. Only a few seconds passed, yet to Su Lin, the time Medises spent staring at him felt so long that he was nearly suffocating.
After a long while, Su Lin finally heard Medises speak.
"Very good."
The senior prosecutor of the Security Committee, who could remain as cold as a dead star even in the most brutal battles, now spoke in an unusually hoarse voice.
"I don't see any signs of rejection, and the development of your wings hasn't been affected by the rough impact they suffered yesterday. At least for now, your physical condition is fairly normal."
"That's great."
Su Lin breathed a long sigh of relief.
He hoped that before he returned to the human world, this crappy body of his would stay in this condition, with no strange rejection reactions and no further development toward becoming a giant bug. One pair of wings was enough; he didn't need anything else!
He offered up a long string of prayers in his heart.
After confirming that his senior had finished the examination, Su Lin quickly pulled his shirt back up around himself, then fastened every button.
He could tell that his senior was very satisfied with how he looked now-he meant the development of his wings.
Maybe that was just the nature of the Zerg?
To be honest, Su Lin himself couldn't really feel happy about it.
In fact, even before Medises examined his wings, he had already checked his own physical condition.
