History

Confrontation with Spirit Hall

Du Busi first appears presiding over a meeting about the captive Guang Ling and the escaped Azure Luan. Although his elders suspect that the two have powerful backing, he initially dismisses their concerns. His confidence falters when he senses Qian Daoliu and Golden Crocodile Douluo approaching, both with presences stronger than the experts the sect has already encountered 24 25.

He orders the sect’s highest-level alert and gathers its disciples at the entrance. Refusing Qian Daoliu’s demand to release Guang Ling, he personally confronts the level 99 Limit Douluo. His Gold-Grade Awakening allows him to fight evenly with Qian Daoliu for more than a hundred exchanges, while the sect’s other ten Titled Douluo face Golden Crocodile 25 26.

After discovering that Qian Daoliu lacks a Soul Core, Du Busi expects to win through superior endurance. Qian Daoliu overturns that strategy with Angel Domain and Sacred Sword, dissolving Du Busi’s Soul Power faster than he can restore it. Repeatedly slashed, Du Busi accepts a severe final wound to escape and orders everyone behind the sect’s defensive formation 26 27.

When Qian Daoliu prepares Angel God’s Punishment, Du Busi abandons his attempt to negotiate from behind the barrier and agrees to release Guang Ling. The prisoner confirms that, apart from his initial injury and confinement, the sect has treated him well 27 28.

Settlement and the One-Year Pact

To end the confrontation, Du Busi accepts three demands 28:

Obligation Details
Assist the search Allow Qian Daoliu’s group to stay and help search for their missing treasures unconditionally.
Teach Soul Core cultivation Explain how to condense Soul Cores.
Supply cultivation resources Provide rare resources, including ten-thousand-year whale glue, Mystic Water Pills, and Soul Ascension Pills.

Du Busi asks that Jin Yu, Qian Renxue, and Ye Guyi remain under the sect’s supervision until the search is finished. He then privately questions the visitors, identifying their distinctive Martial Souls and ignorance of Soul Cores as evidence that they are Spirit Hall figures from ten thousand years earlier 28.

He initially rejects Qian Daoliu’s proposal to affiliate the Body Sect with Spirit Hall. Jin Yu warns that the Sun Moon Empire’s coming invasion will kill both Du Busi and Long Aotian and nearly destroy the sect. Du Busi takes the warning seriously but fears that joining Spirit Hall’s plans could be equally dangerous 28 29.

Rather than accept or refuse outright, he makes the decision depend on his chief disciple’s strength 29:

  • If Jin Yu defeats Long Aotian: the Body Sect will loyally submit to Spirit Hall and support it through life and death.
  • If Jin Yu loses: Spirit Hall must leave the Body Sect alone for ten years, while the sect promises not to reveal its secrets.
  • Timing: Jin Yu requests one year to prepare, which Du Busi accepts.

Du Busi considers the arrangement a safe way to preserve the sect’s independence because he is certain Long Aotian will win. He nevertheless fulfills the settlement, teaching Soul Core condensation, arranging supplies, and providing lodgings for the visitors 29 30.

The Tomb Beneath the Body Sect

After Qian Daoliu, Golden Crocodile, Azure Luan, and Guang Ling successfully condense their First Soul Cores, Du Busi explains the method for establishing a second. Privately, he worries that the four becoming stronger will make his position still more precarious 31.

He objects when Qian Daoliu moves to break open the ground in the sect’s restricted core area. Beneath it, the group discovers the remains of the Douluo II era’s Qian Renxue, the Angel Holy Sword, and six inherited Soul Bones. Du Busi is shocked that these relics have lain under his sect unnoticed 31 32.

After Qian Daoliu absorbs the Soul Bones, Du Busi recognizes his increased power. Although distressed at the missed treasures, he acknowledges that they belonged to the Angel Clan 33.

Visit to Spirit City

Qian Daoliu insists on taking Long Aotian into the past to prevent the still-independent Body Sect from leaking information. Curious about the world ten thousand years earlier, Du Busi asks to accompany them and travels through Jin Yu’s spacetime gate 33.

While exploring Spirit City with Long Aotian, Du Busi intervenes when Ghost Douluo uses soul pressure against his disciple. Chrysanthemum Douluo attacks him, but Du Busi overwhelms both elders and severely injures them 33.

During the fight, he discovers that Ghost Douluo’s Martial Soul is his own soul and identifies it as a Body Martial Soul. He offers to strengthen it if Ghost joins his sect, but abandons the recruitment attempt upon learning that both men are Spirit Hall elders. At Jin Yu’s request, he releases them and ends the confrontation 33 34.

Personality

Du Busi is proud, confrontational, and deeply concerned with the Body Sect’s standing. Even when he recognizes Qian Daoliu as a likely Limit Douluo, he refuses to appear intimidated before his own headquarters. His competitive streak becomes especially clear when he imagines boasting about defeating a level 99 opponent while still at level 98 25 26.

His pride does not prevent retreat when the sect’s survival is at stake. Once Qian Daoliu threatens to destroy its defenses, he yields and accepts costly conditions. His later wager likewise combines caution with confidence: he seeks to avoid both submission and another dangerous enemy by relying on Long Aotian’s talent 27 28 29.

He is protective of his disciple and alert to promising Body Martial Souls. In Spirit City, he first warns Ghost Douluo to stop suppressing Long Aotian, then retaliates when the confrontation escalates. His curiosity also extends beyond cultivation, prompting him to volunteer for the journey into the past 33 34.

Abilities & Skills

Body Martial Soul and Gold-Grade Awakening

Du Busi possesses the highest grade of Body Martial Soul Second Awakening, allowing him to challenge opponents above his cultivation level 25.

  • Enhancement: Gold-Grade Awakening amplifies his strength by up to threefold, sharply increasing his physique and presence 26.
  • Combat performance: With it active, he matches Qian Daoliu for more than a hundred exchanges before the latter deploys Angel Domain 26 27.
  • Limit: This performance does not make him a level 99 cultivator; he remains level 98 26.

Martial Soul Avatar

His Seventh Soul Skill manifests a phantom resembling his own body. He activates it alongside Gold-Grade Awakening during his battle with Qian Daoliu 26.

Hell Poison Dragon Drill

His Sixth Soul Skill condenses toxins into a gigantic, rapidly advancing spiral-shaped poison dragon 27.

  • Recorded counter: Qian Daoliu’s Angel’s Holy Radiance crushes the dragon with a descending pillar of light 27.

Soul Core Cultivation

Du Busi’s Soul Core absorbs Soul Power from the surroundings during battle, providing rapid recovery and supporting prolonged combat 26 27.

  • First Soul Core instruction: He teaches the preparation, solid Soul Power refinement, and condensation process to Jin Yu’s group 29.
  • Second Soul Core instruction: He explains how to prevent interference from the First Soul Core and establish Isotopic Resonance, synchronizing both cores’ rotation 31.
  • Limit: Angel Domain and Sacred Sword dissolve his Soul Power faster than his core can replenish it 27.
  • Unconfirmed attainment: His knowledge of Second Soul Core cultivation is established, but these passages do not show him possessing one 31.

Body Martial Soul Second-Awakening Method

He possesses a secret method for awakening Body Martial Souls a second time and considers using it to recruit Ghost Douluo 34.

  • Assessment: Recognizes Ghost’s soul-based Martial Soul as a Body Martial Soul 33.
  • Proposed application: Offers to strengthen Ghost Douluo’s Martial Soul; no awakening is performed in the documented encounter 34.

Close-Quarters Combat and Sect Defense

  • Physical combat: Uses powerful punches against Qian Daoliu and overwhelms Ghost Douluo and Chrysanthemum Douluo in their confrontation 25 26 33.
  • Defensive formation: Serves as the core of the Body Sect’s activated protective formation. Its ability to withstand Angel God’s Punishment remains untested because he surrenders before the attack lands 27.

Relationships

  • Long Aotian — Chief disciple and successor to the sect master’s position. Du Busi trusts his talent enough to stake the Body Sect’s independence on his duel with Jin Yu 29.
  • Qian Daoliu — Initially an enemy, later a powerful negotiating counterpart. Du Busi recognizes his ancient identity and complies with the settlement while resisting unconditional submission 27 28 29.
  • Jin Yu — Warns him of the Body Sect’s future catastrophe and becomes Long Aotian’s opponent in the allegiance wager 28 29.
  • Golden Body Douluo — A peak level 96 elder who advises him to consider the powerful backing behind Guang Ling and Azure Luan 24.
  • Ghost Douluo — An opponent whose unusual Martial Soul attracts his recruitment interest; Du Busi withdraws the offer after learning his affiliation 33 34.
