Background and History

Guardian of the Angel Inheritance

As Spirit Hall’s Great Enshrined, Qian Daoliu is charged with awaiting the God of Angels’ successor and ultimately sacrificing his life to open the inheritance gate. Jin Yu reveals this secret during their first meeting, helping convince the seven enshrined that he truly comes from ten thousand years in the future 2.

Qian Daoliu is Qian Xunji’s father and Qian Renxue’s grandfather. He knows that Bibi Dong killed Qian Xunji after Tang Hao gravely wounded him, but initially refrains from retaliating because he does not want Qian Renxue to lose her mother as well 11 12 13.

Learning Spirit Hall’s Future

Jin Yu’s account of Spirit Hall’s destruction overturns Qian Daoliu’s expectations for the faction. He learns that Tang San will inherit the Sea God and Asura God powers, defeat Spirit Hall within twenty years, and bring about the deaths of all seven enshrined 3 6.

Qian Daoliu first considers killing Tang San before he can grow stronger. After learning that Qian Renxue is the chosen Angel successor, he instead immediately supports recalling her from the Heaven Dou infiltration mission. He blames himself for allowing her to spend years undercover rather than cultivating, then personally leaves to bring her home 7.

At the Ice and Fire Yin Yang Well, he intercepts Dugu Bo’s escape, seals his power, and knocks him unconscious. Although he initially orders Dugu Bo killed after hearing about his future massacre of Spirit Hall soldiers, he accepts Jin Yu’s proposal to capture and recruit him instead 8.

Removing Bibi Dong

At Jin Yu’s urging, Qian Daoliu explains the circumstances behind Bibi Dong’s hatred of Qian Renxue. His account describes Qian Xunji forcing Bibi Dong into a secret chamber; Jin Yu subsequently makes explicit that Qian Xunji sexually assaulted her. Qian Daoliu had previously tried to keep this history from his granddaughter 11 12.

Jin Yu also identifies Bibi Dong as the Rakshasa God’s successor and warns that she threatens the Six-Winged Angel Clan. Qian Daoliu responds by reasserting the Worship Hall’s authority: he terminates the Heaven Dou infiltration plan, removes Bibi Dong as Pope, and appoints Qian Renxue in her place 12 13.

When Bibi Dong tries to force Qian Renxue to kneel, Qian Daoliu strikes her. He delivers three slaps in total, invoking her treatment of his granddaughter and her killing of his son. Backed by the other six enshrined, he forces her to accept removal 13.

Supporting Jin Yu and Soul Tool Development

Qian Daoliu appoints Jin Yu as Holy Son, but permits Hu Liena, Xie Yue, and Yan to challenge his eligibility. He arranges intensive training under the seven enshrined and confirms the appointment after Jin Yu wins the deciding matches 13 14 17 19.

He approves Jin Yu’s plan to acquire future Soul Tool technology and accompanies the expedition through the spacetime gate. Five hundred Soul Masters are dispatched to study Soul Engineering among the future era’s factions, while the leading group heads toward Mingdu and considers exploiting the Body Sect’s planned attack on Mingde Hall 12 20.

During the journey, Qian Daoliu blocks an Evil Soul Master’s escape and helps rescue Ye Guyi. He reveals the group’s origin to her after she agrees to join them, welcoming another angel-type Soul Master into Spirit Hall 21 22.

Conflict with the Body Sect

After the Body Sect captures Guang Ling, Qian Daoliu and Golden Crocodile confront the sect to secure his release. Du Busi initially matches Qian Daoliu through his Gold-Grade Awakening and believes his Soul Core will give him an advantage in a prolonged battle 24 25 26.

Qian Daoliu overturns that advantage with Angel Domain and Sacred Sword, dissolving Du Busi’s Soul Power faster than he can replenish it. After driving him behind the sect’s defensive formation, Qian Daoliu threatens it with Angel God’s Punishment and forces him to release Guang Ling without conditions 27.

He subsequently allows a settlement rather than destroying the sect, which is neither an evil force nor a longstanding enemy. The negotiations give his group assistance searching the mountains and access to Soul Core cultivation methods. He also proposes that the Body Sect become affiliated with Spirit Hall 28 29.

Recovering Qian Renxue’s Relics

After a month-long search, Qian Daoliu detects the Angel Holy Sword and six inheritance Soul Bones beneath the Body Sect’s restricted area. He opens a fissure with Angel God’s Punishment and discovers the future Qian Renxue’s grave 31 32.

Seeing her remains overwhelms him with grief despite his living granddaughter standing nearby. The future Qian Renxue’s remnant consciousness asks him to use her relics and take her remains home. He promises to fulfill both requests, then absorbs the six Soul Bones after spending the night in the tomb 32.

Qian Daoliu unseals the Angel Holy Sword and returns to the past through Jin Yu’s gate. He buries the future Qian Renxue in the Qian Family cemetery and keeps vigil for three days. Afterward, he teaches Soul Core condensation to Spirit Hall’s titled elders and peak level-89 Soul Douluo 33 34.

Personality

Qian Daoliu is normally composed, but threats to Spirit Hall and his family can provoke immediate anger. His authority becomes markedly more forceful after Jin Yu’s warnings: he refuses to treat the recall of Qian Renxue as a matter requiring Bibi Dong’s permission and openly asserts the Worship Hall’s right to remove the Pope 3 12 13.

His affection for Qian Renxue is a central vulnerability. He regrets the time she lost infiltrating Heaven Dou, protects her from Bibi Dong’s pressure, and breaks down when confronted with her future remains. The tomb discovery moves him to tears for the first time in a century 7 13 32.

Despite threatening severe retaliation, he can accept practical alternatives to killing. He agrees to capture Dugu Bo for possible recruitment and spares the Body Sect once Guang Ling is safe, with the narration explicitly stating that his nature would not permit him to eradicate a non-evil faction over that dispute 8 27 28.
