The Dragon Transformation Sect was founded approximately 1,400 years ago by Long Daotian, the Dragon Transformation Ancestor. Long Daotian fought alongside the Martial Ancestor during the nation’s founding and received a vast feudal territory as reward. 92

Three centuries before the present story, a world-changing upheaval devastated the sect’s position. To preserve its inheritance, it abandoned its former territories and relocated to Yun Province with control of only a single prefecture. Its former territory of Anzhou later became contested ground controlled by the imperial court and major sects. 92 128 135

Despite this decline, the sect rebuilt into the leading power among Yun Province’s ten prefectures. In Spirit Seeking Prefecture, local clans, gentry, and commercial leaders are either placed by the sect or subordinate to it, while imperial officials retain only limited formal authority. 28 92
