Background / History
Tuoba Xi is the elderly head of the Tuoba Clan and grandfather of Tuoba Yan. The clan is blood-related to the Qian Clan through Yan’s mother, who was Qian Daoliu’s niece; Xi and his son earned that marriage through service in the Hunting Soul Squad. Yan’s parents later died during a hunting operation, leaving Xi as his guardian. 2
As a long-serving supporter of the Martial Soul Hall, Xi initially believes the Tuoba Clan owes its status and future to the Qian Clan and the Hall. He expects that loyalty to Bibi Dong will secure lasting prosperity for his descendants, and is willing to sacrifice his own life to create a safer path for Yan and the clan. 2 3
Yan’s warnings about Bibi Dong and the future destruction of the Tuoba Clan gradually challenge this conviction. Xi remains reluctant to accuse the Pontiff without evidence, but begins prioritizing the clan’s independence, wealth, and safety rather than blindly reporting every resource to the Martial Soul Hall. 8 29 39
Appearance
Tuoba Xi is an elderly, bearded man who stands over two metres tall. He carries himself with the imposing presence of a veteran Soul Master. 1 2

- The Horse Talisman restored his skin’s firmness, healed his hidden injuries, and caused dark strands to reappear in his hair. 5 6
- His temples are described as wind-tossed, reinforcing his appearance as an aged but formidable warrior. 3
Personality
Tuoba Xi is deeply loyal, family-oriented, and initially idealistic about the Martial Soul Hall. He considers service to the Qian Clan a duty and believes the weak survive by attaching themselves to powerful protectors. 2 3
His devotion to Yan is stronger than his institutional loyalty. He repeatedly declares that Yan’s life takes priority over any command from Bibi Dong or Qian Daoliu, and he is prepared to oppose anyone who threatens his grandson. 3 29 39
Xi is also pragmatic in clan affairs. He proposes alliances, discipleship, and marriage arrangements to strengthen the Tuoba Clan, although Yan’s repeated refusals expose Xi’s tendency to treat family strategy as more urgent than personal choice. 9 11 16 20 21
As Yan proves his foresight, Xi becomes more cautious and cunning. He supports the Whale Rubber operation, helps exploit rival factions’ surveillance, and agrees to discreetly investigate the assassin targeting Yan. 8 28 29 39
