"There it is again, that same line, that same line."
Cheng Yue was about to lose it. Was everyone in this primordial world like this? Bluffing with borrowed authority? And claiming to be Hongjun—these fools had no idea how badly they'd end up when they casually dropped that name. Cheng Yue wanted nothing to do with these people now.
But he didn't notice that on the island, Nuwa was hiding nearby, secretly watching the scene in the sky. She glanced at the old Daoist Hongjun and finally curled her lip slightly. "This old man is Hongjun, huh. His cultivation is indeed profound, but he's not as strong as Master. Most importantly, he's not as good-looking as Master." After saying that, she prepared to see what her master was about to do.
Right now, though, Cheng Yue's expression wasn't great—he was even angry. Hongjun noticed Cheng Yue's anger but couldn't figure out where it came from. Could he have offended him back in the Chaos? But that thought was quickly dismissed by Hongjun. His karmic ties shouldn't involve someone like this. Back in the Chaos, aside from Yang Mei and a few others, the only one he had karmic ties with was Pangu—after all, he'd gotten the Jade Butterfly of Creation from him. As for the rest, there shouldn't be any karma.
Just as he was about to think of other things, he saw Cheng Yue raise his hand. A white blade of light shot from Cheng Yue's hand, straight for Hongjun's face. Seeing this, Hongjun's heart jolted, and his scalp went numb. He realized he was locked onto by that attack and couldn't dodge it no matter what. In an instant, a wave of death rushed straight at him. His face went pale, and a trace of wordless anger surfaced. He didn't understand—how had he provoked this person? Why, after just a self-introduction, was the other party throwing out a killing move? This was meant to put him in the grave.
The more panicked he became, the worse it got. Just as the white light was about to strike him, he finally understood. The other party far surpassed him—this was the realm of a Saint, or rather, what a Hunyuan Daluo Golden Immortal should possess. "My life is over!" But in that moment, a crack suddenly appeared before him, and within it, a cold, lifeless pupil emerged. After blocking the strike, the crack vanished, leaving only a shaken Hongjun standing there. Looking at what had just happened, Hongjun felt a bit of panic. "Senior, why do you draw your blade against me the moment we meet?"
Hearing that familiar line, a cartoon image of a muscular Barbie popped into Cheng Yue's head. He quickly shook it off and looked at Hongjun, speaking bluntly. "Still alive, huh? Looks like you're carrying some impressive spiritual treasure. I'll cut down this dishonest old Daoist today, so you don't drag me into unwanted karma." With that, he prepared to strike again. This time, Cheng Yue went all out, his Golden Immortal pressure and immortal aura fully unleashed. Strange phenomena appeared around him—cracks formed behind him, and deep within them, a golden river slowly branched off, flowing out through the cracks and streaming above his head.
Feeling that pressure, Hongjun's face turned white, and his body swayed, on the verge of plunging into the sea. Seeing the white light in Cheng Yue's hand flare up, Hongjun sensed that this time he might really die. To fall before even setting out on his path. Wouldn't it have been better to just cultivate quietly at home? Why did he have to come out and court disaster? If he'd stayed home, he might have become a Saint. Why was he so foolish?
Just then, a voice transmission reached his mind. Without hesitation, Hongjun quickly spoke up. "Senior, forgive me. This poor Daoist is Junhong. That was just a slip of the tongue, a slip of the tongue. Please, Senior, hold your hand." Hearing that, Cheng Yue hesitated for a moment, then thought it over. If he did this, Hongjun probably wouldn't hold a grudge against him, right?
No, this isn't safe. To be cautious, kill him first.
Avoid any future trouble.
But as he was still pondering...
Thunder roared across the sky, and at its very center stood Cheng Yue.
Looking up at the heavens, drops of blood-red rain began to fall.
When Hongjun saw this rain, he was utterly horrified.
The heavens weeping blood!
Why would the heavens suddenly shed blood rain?
After a moment's thought, he realized that the Eye of the Heavenly Dao had just taken a blow meant for him.
This only deepened Hongjun's shock.
A single casual strike had gravely wounded the Heavenly Dao, triggering the heavens weeping blood.
Just what cultivation level did this person have, to be so terrifying?
Why had he come here today?
This person hadn't interfered with his path to enlightenment—why had he been foolish enough to show up?
Still, for the sake of his own life, he quickly spoke up.
"Senior, the heavens weep blood! The heavens weep blood! Please, Senior, stop! Something momentous must be happening—please, Senior, cease!"
Cheng Yue was startled too. The heavens weeping blood—what exactly had happened that he didn't know about?
But with thunderclouds gathering thickly in the sky, it looked like something bad was about to happen.
Gritting his teeth, he withdrew his aura.
He glanced back at the island behind him, then at Hongjun before him.
Then he looked up at the thunderclouds overhead.
"Damn it, this omen is bound to attract some Great Powers. Forget it, I'm out of here before anything goes wrong."
With that, he pointed a finger at the island where his palace stood.
"Move mountain!"
The island trembled once, then lifted straight into the air.
Seeing this, Hongjun was stunned.
The Primordial World was created by Pangu. Its mountains and terrain should be unshakable. To uproot an entire island like this marked a true Great Power.
Cheng Yue flew southward with the island in tow.
As he flew, he couldn't help muttering under his breath.
"That damn old Daoist—if I ever see you again, I'll beat you on sight. Hope that old silverback doesn't find me."
As he flew, Nuwa came over, puzzled by her master's strange behavior.
"Master, what are you doing?"
Cheng Yue turned to glance at the center of the ominous phenomenon behind them.
"See that omen? It's bound to draw plenty of Great Powers. I'm getting out of here before I stir up trouble I can't handle."
Nuwa was startled. Running away was one thing, but dragging the whole island along?
Cheng Yue didn't want to either, but the island was nice, and the palace he'd built on it had become a Merit Spiritual Treasure due to accumulated merit. The little beasts on the island also shared some karmic ties with him. Taking the island along saved him from having nowhere to land.
"Master, you really are cautious."
Cheng Yue nodded, then spoke with a serious expression.
"Xiao Wa, remember this: whenever you face an enemy, after killing them, make sure they can't escape. Remember, if you beat the young, the old will come. So try to wipe them out completely—body and soul."
"If you can't manage that, and the enemy is too strong but below the Golden Immortal realm, you can lure them back to me. I'll handle it myself."
"And to make sure their elders can't track you, it's best to have some technique that conceals heavenly secrets."
"But I don't know any such technique myself, so try not to cause trouble. Remember that!"
"If the enemy is above the Golden Immortal realm, you'll have to deal with them yourself. I can't handle those Great Powers either."
The first part sounded reasonable enough, but when he finished, Nuwa's mouth twitched uncontrollably.
Her master seemed far too afraid of death. Was all this caution really necessary over one incident?
And just throwing his disciple under the bus like that?
Should she tell him about her cultivation level?
No, even if she didn't, it wouldn't matter. As far as her master knew, no one in the Primordial World surpassed him.
Didn't that mean she was already invincible?
Even if she casually provoked someone, she could just lead them back and let her master handle it.
Gradually, Nuwa's mindset began to shift.
Cheng Yue, meanwhile, felt a strange chill run down his spine, as if something was off.
