Pain appeared at the Five Kage summit as an expendable clone, calmly outlining Akatsuki's plan to revive the Ten-Tails, use it as a weapon against foreign enemies, and impose peace through fear and shared suffering. The assembled Kage destroyed the clone, but Hyuga Kei identified it as a decoy rather than Pain's main body. 120

During the operation against Utakata, Deva Path Pain confronted the Twilight Squad while Hyuga Kei intercepted the fleeing jinchūriki. Pain overwhelmed the defenders, summoned the remaining five Paths when their resistance persisted, and departed with Hyuga Kei after the Six-Tails was extracted. 150

Before Akatsuki's final assault on Konoha, Deva Path Pain led the other five Paths alongside Hyuga Kei.
