Background / History
The Xiao Clan was originally one of the Eight Ancient Clans and descended from a Dou Emperor. Its descendants inherited the Dou Di Bloodline, which gave them exceptional cultivation potential, but the bloodline gradually weakened over countless years. Xiao Xuan, the clan's greatest later expert, reached the Half Emperor realm but could not become a Dou Emperor because he lacked Origin Qi. 60
The ancient Xiao Clan was eventually destroyed, leaving only a small number of survivors. With assistance from the Gu Clan, those survivors relocated to the Jia Ma Empire and lived under the reduced identity of the Xiao Family. 37
At the beginning of the story, the Xiao Family was one of Wutan City's three major clans, with 197 members recorded by Xiao Lin's Family System. Its prospects changed when former patriarch Xiao Lin awakened after twelve years in a state of living death and began receiving cultivation feedback from clan members. 1 4
Xiao Lin used the family's rise to defeat the Misty Cloud Sect, accumulate its resources, and invest heavily in every branch of the clan. The family later ceased presenting itself merely as a powerful regional household: after Xiao Chen returned and its bloodline members multiplied, it resumed the name Xiao Clan and re-entered the affairs of the Eight Ancient Clans. 39 126 134
During the war against the Hun Clan, Xiao Lin gathered every bloodline member and distributed Energy Cores formed from the Heavenly Tomb's accumulated reserves. The resulting mass breakthroughs dramatically raised the clan's lower and middle ranks. 167 170
Xiao Lin eventually ascended to the Dou Emperor realm, creating a renewed Dou Di Bloodline for the clan. Over the following decade, the Xiao Clan regained the strength and influence expected of an ancient clan. 181
Leadership and Structure
- Xiao Lin — Former patriarch of the Xiao Family, later Xiao Clan Leader, Lord of the Immortal Palace, and architect of the clan's restoration. 60 168
- Xiao Xuan — Ancient Xiao Clan ancestor and former clan leader; his remnant soul preserved knowledge of the clan's fall and the requirements for reaching Dou Emperor. 117
- Xiao Chen — Blood Axe Xiao Chen, an ancestral Dou Saint rescued from the Purifying Demonic Lotus Flame; he became the clan's second-most important figure. 124 135
- Xiao Zhan — Xiao Lin's son and the Xiao Family's patriarch during its Wutan City period. 1 4
- Xiao Yan — Xiao Lin's grandson and Selected Clan Member of the Family System; his breakthroughs supplied Xiao Lin with enhanced feedback and rewards. 4 71
The early Xiao Family's principal bloodlines consisted of Xiao Lin's branch, the First Elder's branch, the Second Elder's branch, and the Third Elder's branch. Xiao Zhan's sons were Xiao Ding, Xiao Li, and Xiao Yan; Xiao Yu and Xiao Ning descended from the First Elder; Xiao Mei and Xiao Qing descended from the Second Elder. 4
Bloodline and Clan Marks
The Xiao Clan's status as an ancient clan originates from a Dou Emperor ancestor. The Dou Di Bloodline strengthens descendants' talent and cultivation, but it declines if no new Dou Emperor is born to renew it. 60 450
The Family System recognizes only relatives capable of benefiting from the Xiao bloodline as true bloodline clan members. This distinction excludes spouses who do not inherit the bloodline's enhancement. 40
Xiao Clan members may manifest a clan mark whose completeness reflects bloodline purity:
| Clan Mark | Bloodline Significance |
|---|---|
| Three strokes | Comparatively thin Dou Di Bloodline |
| Six strokes | Talented clan member with a richer bloodline |
| Nine strokes | Complete mark, possessed by members with the purest bloodlines |
The clan-mark system and its connection to Dou Di Bloodline purity are demonstrated by Xiao Xuan's complete nine-stroke mark. 451
After Xiao Lin's ascension, his close blood relatives received especially powerful benefits from the newly renewed Dou Di Bloodline. The bloodline remained vigorous even among descendants several generations removed from him. 181
Institutions and Resources
- Family System — Xiao Lin receives cultivation feedback whenever clan members cultivate. Selected members provide a much greater share of their cultivation and grant additional rewards upon breakthroughs. 1 4
- Immortal Palace — Xiao Lin's wider power base, established to protect the Xiao Clan and recruit external talent beyond its bloodline. 42 47
- Northwest Alliance — A defensive alliance formed with Zhou Shan and Lei Yi to resist Soul Hall pressure; the Xiao Family and Immortal Palace were guaranteed treatment equal to the Thunder Sect and Heavenly Snake Manor. 66
- Immortal Palace Domain — The former Hundred Battles Domain was renamed and organized under Xiao Lin, with Gu Yuan and Lin Dong serving as chief generals. 248
- Heavenly Tomb Energy Cores — Xiao Lin transformed the Heavenly Tomb's reserves into Energy Cores and used them to elevate the entire Xiao Clan. 167
Allies and Enemies
- Gu Clan — The Gu Clan helped the surviving Xiao Clan relocate after its ancient destruction, but later internal factions attempted to seize Xiao Clan rights and the Tou She Ancient God Jade. 37 70
- Hun Clan / Soul Hall — The Xiao Clan's principal historical enemy. The Soul Hall treated the Xiao Family as a high-priority target because it retained the Ancient Jade; the conflict ended with Xiao Lin defeating Hun Tiandi and the allied forces exterminating the remaining Hun Clan forces. 37 175
- Ancient Void Dragon Clan — Allied with the Xiao Clan through Xiao Lin's negotiations, strengthening morale against Soul Hall's attacks. 135
- Jia Nan Academy — Allied with Xiao Lin and the Xiao Family after Xiao Lin aided the academy against intruders in the Black Corner Region. 47
- Yan Clan and Lei Clan — Extended friendly overtures to the restored Xiao Clan amid instability among the Eight Ancient Clans. 135
- Yao Clan — Maintained a hostile relationship with Xiao Lin's side due to Yao Chen's history with the clan and Xiao Lin's killing of Yao Wan Gui. 140 150
Historical Crisis
In the ancient era, Xiao Xuan gathered the Xiao Clan's Dou Di Bloodline through 9,999 bloodline pools in a final attempt to become a Dou Emperor. Although the attempt pushed him beyond the peak of Dou Sheng Nine Stars, he failed at the final barrier. 453 455
The failure severely weakened the clan, whose members had surrendered much of their bloodline power. The Hun Clan then invaded the Xiao Realm to destroy the remaining Xiao Clan bloodline and prevent any future recovery. 455
During the ancient-era events witnessed by Xiao Teng, Xiao Teng's breakthrough to Dou Emperor awakened the Dou Di Bloodline in every Xiao Clan member and reversed the battlefield situation against the Hun Clan. 460
