Itachi is the eldest son of Fugaku Uchiha, captain of the Konoha Military Police Force, and Mikoto Uchiha. During the Chunin Exam, he is driven to win by the expectations of his family—especially his younger brother, Sasuke. 38

His final-exam clash with Akihara Kagura establishes him as a versatile combatant capable of taijutsu, ninjutsu, and genjutsu. Kagura’s Wood Dragon nearly kills him before Uchiha Shisui intervenes with Susanoo; Itachi’s genjutsu had briefly disrupted Kagura’s attack. 39 42
