Background

Sole Uchiha Survivor

Sasuke was left orphaned by the Night of the Uchiha Clan Downfall. He maintained his home meticulously, studied the Uchiha clan's remaining jutsu scrolls, ranked first at the Ninja Academy, and pursued strength through sustained effort rather than talent alone 182.

His overriding early goal was to kill his older brother, Uchiha Itachi, regardless of the method required. Akihara Kagura offered him forbidden methods such as the Reaper Death Seal and explained Izanagi as a potential weapon against Itachi 220.

Root and the Orochimaru Infiltration

Kagura brought Sasuke to the Root base, where he discovered that numerous Uchiha had survived in secret. Sasuke's Three-Tomoe Sharingan awakened as he resolved to kill Itachi, lead the survivors, compete with Karin for Root's future leadership, and revitalize the Uchiha clan 242.
