History
Plot Against Fairy Tail
Phantom Lord accepted a commission from Lucy’s father to capture his daughter, who had fled home to escape an arranged business marriage. The commission concealed a larger scheme: the guild intended to use Lucy to control her father, seize his financial group’s wealth, and strengthen itself. Eliminating Fairy Tail was an additional objective 145.
After Phantom Lord damaged Fairy Tail’s guild building and attacked its members, Makarov declared war. George had already defeated Gajeel alone and rescued Levy’s group. Before Fairy Tail departed, George used Legilimency on the captured Gajeel and uncovered Phantom Lord’s true intentions 145.
Lucy blamed herself for the conflict, but George argued that her situation had merely provided the trigger: Phantom Lord already coveted her family’s money and was hostile toward Fairy Tail 145.
Mobile Castle Assault
While Fairy Tail awaited Makarov’s recovery from the dispersal of his magic power, Phantom Lord approached across the lake south of the guild in its enormous Mobile Castle. George rallied the defenders with an Amplification Spell and ordered them to activate their magical defensive equipment and Runic Barriers 152.
Defeat and Aftermath
Fairy Tail ultimately defeated Phantom Lord. At George’s suggestion, Makarov retained the Mobile Castle as spoils of war. The victory increased Fairy Tail’s reputation and brought more requests to the guild 202.
The castle initially remained in the nearby lake because Fairy Tail could not afford its modification costs. Once the guild’s finances improved, Makarov delivered it to a large magic-equipment modification company and paid the down payment 202.
