Governance and Structure
- The God Realm is governed through the God Realm Committee, whose highest authorities include the God of Goodness, the God of Evil, the God of Destruction, the Goddess of Life, and the Asura God. 24 66
- The God Realm Core is the realm’s essential source of power. Its key grants authority over the realm and can be used against other God Kings. 28 66 264
- The God of Goodness and the God of Evil originally held authority over the realm’s affairs, while the God of Destruction frequently bore additional responsibility for protecting and administering it. 66
- The God of Destruction commands the Seven Sins Gods, seven first-rank gods who are loyal enough to defy the God Realm Committee’s highest orders for him. 65
- Divine positions are scarce; even a level-100 Soul Master is not a true god without obtaining a god position. 46
- The realm’s positions were described as nearly saturated, preventing most lower-realm Soul Masters from ascending regardless of their talent. 203 272 273
History
Dragon God War
The God Realm was the site of the ancient Dragon God War. The Five God Kings united against the Dragon God while gods and divine beasts fought across the realm. The Asura God ultimately used the Three Realms Judgment Sword to split the Dragon God in two. 13 24
The war devastated the dragon race. Dī Tiān, captain of the Dragon God’s guards, escaped the God Realm with unhatched Dragon Eggs on his father’s final order and fled to the lower plane of Douluo Continent. 13
Following the war, the God Realm prohibited Soul Beasts from becoming gods. This policy directly led Poseidon and the Asura God to arrange the death of the Deep Sea Demonic Whale King when it neared godhood. 31
Tang San's Rise
After inheriting both the Sea God and Asura God positions, Tang San ascended to the God Realm and later obtained the key to the God Realm Core from the retiring God of Goodness and God of Evil. 28 120
Tang San’s control of the Core gave him authority over the God Realm, despite the God of Destruction believing he was more qualified by seniority and responsibility to safeguard it. 66
Conflict over Expansion
The God of Destruction sought to expand the God Realm and create more divine positions so additional lower-realm cultivators could ascend. Tang San repeatedly rejected the proposal, citing a prophecy of future disaster; the God of Destruction believed Tang San was chiefly protecting his own authority. 46 66 69
The dispute escalated when the God of Destruction sealed Tang San and imprisoned Xiao Wu in an attempt to take control and pursue expansion. The Goddess of Life opposed him, resulting in internal conflict within the God Realm. 66
Space-Time Turbulence and the Great God Circle
When Space-Time Turbulence threatened the realm, the God of Destruction and Goddess of Life combined their source powers into the Creation Force and stopped the disaster at the cost of becoming Spirit Bodies. The disaster severed contact between the God Realm and Douluo Continent. 67 123
While drifting through the universe, the God Realm encountered six other worlds facing the same crisis. After challenges between their strongest representatives, the seven worlds fused into the Great God Circle, which possessed twelve God Kings. 125
The God of Destruction's Rule
After Lu Yu’s intervention against Tang San and the Goddess of Life, the God of Destruction took control of the God Realm Core and assumed authority over the realm. Ji Dong and Lie Yan subsequently left the God Realm Committee. 248
The God of Destruction then resumed his goal of expanding the God Realm and recruiting or subduing gods under his authority. 257
Functions and Properties
Divine Ascension
- The God Realm contains divine positions that allow qualified mortals to become true gods. 46
- A person who reaches level 100 without receiving a divine position remains mortal. 46
- Faith is necessary for independently creating a divine position, but the faith available on Douluo Continent was insufficient to produce new gods. 47
- The scarcity of divine positions leaves many powerful cultivators unable to ascend. 46 66 273
Lower-Plane Connection
- Douluo Continent is a lower plane connected to the God Realm. 115
- The God Realm relies on lower planes for energy; losing contact with them risks exhausting the energy stored in the God Realm Core. 125
- Before Lu Yu’s interference, the God Realm was said to have once overseen 108 lower planes, though only a few remained after the Dragon God War. 234
- Space-Time Turbulence cut the connection between the God Realm and Douluo Continent. 19 123
Soul Beast Restrictions
- The God Realm’s rules barred Soul Beasts from ascending, even when they had accumulated sufficient power to become gods. 31
- Lu Yu considered allowing Soul Beasts to remain as gods on Douluo Continent a direct provocation against the God Realm. 234
- The God Realm’s restrictions motivated Lu Yu to establish the Divine Star as an alternative realm where humans and Soul Beasts could both ascend. 203 232
