Background / History
Reincarnation and childhood
In his previous life, Tang San was an outer disciple of the Tang Sect. Denied access to its inner-sect techniques, he stole the Mysterious Heaven Treasure Record and hidden-weapon knowledge, then jumped from a cliff while fleeing the elders. The Asura God saved him and reincarnated him in the Douluo Continent as a prospective successor. 26 116
He was raised in Holy Soul Village by Tang Hao, who spent most of Tang San's childhood drinking and neglecting him. Tang San became self-sufficient from an unusually young age, cooking, washing clothes, caring for Tang Hao, and receiving help from village chief Old Jack. 49 50
At six, he awakened Blue Silver Grass and the Clear Sky Hammer while concealing that he possessed Twin Martial Souls. He attended Nuoding Academy as a work-study student and later accepted Yu Xiaogang as his teacher. 8 50
Early training
Yu Xiaogang selected a Mandala Snake as Tang San's first Soul Ring target in an attempt to prove that an animal Soul Ring could be attached to a plant Martial Soul. Tang San killed the snake himself after Yu Xiaogang was defeated and nearly got both of them killed. 9
After enrolling at Shrek Academy, Tang San became part of the Shrek Seven Devils. Tang Hao eventually removed him from the academy when his identity as the son of Clear Sky Douluo exposed him to Spirit Hall's assassination attempts. 9 10
Tang Hao later trained him in Clear Sky Hammer techniques, brought him to Ah Yin, and took him into the City of Slaughter to temper his killing intent and pursue the Divine Slaughter's Domain. 50
Personality
Tang San is secretive, calculating, and intensely ambitious. He conceals his reincarnation from Tang Hao, views the establishment of his own Tang Sect as a path to controlling the continent, and believes his Tang Sect arts and hidden weapons are his greatest advantages. 27 32
He consistently rationalizes his actions as justified. Even after his theft from the Tang Sect is exposed, he insists that his conscience is clear and frames the theft as an act born from love for the sect. 16 116
His attachment to Xiao Wu is one of his strongest emotional motivations; threats against her provoke immediate rage and can override attempts at mediation. 20 243 246
Tang San is also willing to exploit personal feelings for strategic gain. He maintains contact with Xue Ke because her status could be useful and uses Hu Liena's feelings to infiltrate Spirit Hall's team. 118
